Counterfeit Hero

Fatty pressed his face against the car window, staring blankly at the police line outside.

He knew it was Old Smith who wanted to see him, but he never dreamed that Old Smith’s arrival would come with such a grand entourage.

Old Smith stood outside the isolation net at the crossroads. Behind him were dozens of agile Mecha unique to the Phantom Stream. Surrounded by the Mecha were hundreds of Phantom Stream disciples holding various weapons. Among these disciples were more than twenty giant trucks.

The automatic doors of some truck tailgates were already open.

A few carefree children were running excitedly on the trucks’ automatic ramps, while women and old people huddled behind the partitions inside the trucks, with only half their heads exposed, silently watching this side.

Clearly, these were the families of the Phantom Stream members, who had come out in full force.

Fatty scrambled his chubby hands over his head, as if this was the only way to express his current confusion.

Fatty always knew his own worth. Though he weighed a little more than ordinary people, it wasn’t enough for people to bow down in awe just by throwing himself into the mix.

If Old Smith had first come to negotiate, talk about prices, and after some mutual flattery, they undressed, Fatty would understand. But from what he knew about Old Smith, this old guy was an old fox who never acts without a sure gain.

Yet what he saw before him was this old fox bringing the entire Phantom Stream to Puluo Town. Isn’t this clearly coming to seek refuge with him?

Fatty was momentarily dazed. Could it be that he possessed such a kingly aura, that the heavens would just drop a pie down like this?

Despite his confusion, when the car stopped, Fatty quickly plastered a smile on his face, got off and walked over with big strides.

This was exactly what he wanted. No matter what, he must devour this Phantom Stream whole.

Seeing Fatty’s features contorted into a messy grin, Old Smith sighed lightly. From this guy, he couldn’t see any trace of the Leray Hero’s demeanor.

However, by now, he had no other options.

Unlike other top-ranked sects, the Phantom Stream had no mercenaries, no commerce group, and no dedicated armed fleet. After the war broke out, factories under the Griffin Knight Manor were forced to close, and the main location was isolated by other competitive forces into an island.

In such chaotic times, with bandits rampant, many impoverished disciples brought their families to the Mechanical Armor Hall. Phantom Stream was their last hope.

But Old Smith knew that relying only on his people, Phantom Stream could never last until the end of the war. After carefully reading the announcement from the Puluo Branch declaring its split from Kubo-led Tai Sect, he finally made up his mind.

Go to Puluo Town!

Old Smith wasn’t afraid to gamble everything on Phantom Stream; he had nothing left to lose.

Thus, Phantom Stream began its journey through gunfire.

From the Central City’s main location to Puluo Town, usually just an hour by flying car, took a full day for Phantom Stream. After paying with the lives of two giant trucks and several guard soldiers, they finally arrived in Puluo Town.

Tian Xingjian approached.

Old Smith looked back at those behind him.

Led by Cosmo, dozens of Phantom Stream Core Disciples were lined up in a phalanx.

These young men, raised in the Free World, stood solemnly and silently. Their eyes were fixated on the approaching figure.

Including Cosmo, the eyes of these young Mech Knights were filled with clear and unhidden admiration!

He led over two hundred and seventy prisoners to break through enemy lines over a thousand miles, infiltrated Mezrich alone to stir up a storm and capture James, intercepted the Hunter Corps, rampaged among a thousand Mecha, advanced proudly through the artillery fire, fell into the abyss, yet miraculously survived.

Most importantly, he once controlled a Mecha to fight a hundred foes, and at the Phantom Stream main location, he charged through with iron fists, avenging the humiliation inflicted by Kubo a hundredfold.

Every time they recalled that scene, not only these young Mech Knights but also Old Smith himself and the few calm elders couldn’t help but yearn for it.

Binding Phantom Stream’s future to this man’s hands, no one opposed it!

Therefore, Phantom Stream came!

But can this Fatty really bring a bright future to Phantom Stream?

Old Smith was not confident!

Until now, he still couldn’t figure out how this Fatty planned to resolve the chaos! No matter how much he needed the core techniques, no matter how desperate the situation, Old Smith would not entrust the lives of the young people behind him to a hopeless war.

As Fatty walked to him, Old Smith’s eyes were sharp, and after a long silence, he asked a seemingly inconsequential question, ”Are you confident?”

Fatty was stunned; from beginning to end, he and Old Smith were not familiar, not even formally acquainted.

But now, the old man standing in front of him directly threw out the question he was most worried about.

Turning his gaze to Old Smith’s behind, under the scorching eyes of the Phantom Stream Knights, Fatty put away his smile.

”Yes!”

”What are you going to do?”

”Wait!”

”Wait for whom?”

”Mingxin Sect, Black Dragon Sect, and countless other sects.”
