Counterfeit Hero

Hearing the mockery in Fatty’s words, the three elders’ faces simultaneously turned red. Long Jianshan said, ”To be honest, we don’t approve of what Kubo’s doing either. However, in recent years, the disciples of the Tai Sect have significantly increased compared to before. Seeing it thriving day by day, all we can do is neither support nor oppose.”

”Neither support nor oppose.” Fatty played with the teacup in his hand and said, ”To put it bluntly, you are just watching with optimism.”

The three elders exchanged glances. Geoffrey said, ”The three of us, along with many disciples of various sects, are genuinely uninterested in getting involved in power struggles. Our only goal is to preserve the foundations of the Tai Sect and perfect the core techniques. As for Kubo’s connections with the Western Alliance and future plans, we know very little. However, we can guarantee that no matter what General Tian wants to do against Kubo, we will stay out of it.”

”What do you mean by that?” Fatty looked surprised. ”How could I possibly target Curator Kubo? However, I appreciate the goodwill of the three elders. Besides, do you really think you can stay out of it in the future?”

”We...” Geoffrey sighed deeply and fell silent. In reality, ever since the old curator passed away and Kubo took control, leading Tai Sect to its current state, they knew it was too late to stop. The reason they hadn’t turned against Kubo yet was partly due to their hope of making Tai Sect stronger.

Now, under Kubo’s leadership, Tai Sect was drifting further away. With all sorts of desperados joining, the once-united and upright Tai Sect had changed. The arrival of this war made the three feel the danger. Following Kubo’s path, Tai Sect was heading towards certain doom. If they lost, Tai Sect would be completely annihilated; even if they won, it wouldn’t be the Tai Sect they wished to see.

Furthermore, winning wasn’t easy. Compared to traditional sects, Tai Sect was just a band of assembled desperados. A rabble. Once faced with disaster, they’d immediately scatter. No one would stand together with Tai Sect through life and death.

These are just the visible aspects.

Geoffrey looked at Fatty and gritted his teeth. The reason they wanted to start anew was even more critical.

For over a year, Kubo had been secretly collaborating with the Western Alliance on a project, which was a blatant betrayal of all mecha sects. This man was blinded by greed, walking a path of no return. Besides a few disciples sent there earlier, he now even sent Monroe. If this project got exposed, Tai Sect would be condemned by everyone.

This was Tai Sect’s biggest secret. And this secret had become a heavy burden on Geoffrey and the others.

Geoffrey slowly said, ”We have always planned to lead some disciples to establish a new lineage at the Chuckna branch. Perhaps, it may preserve some seeds for Tai Sect after the war.”

”That’s a good idea.” Fatty nodded his head and said with flashing eyes, ”Did you come to me specifically because you need my help?”

Geoffrey quickly gave Weii Jianshan a look, and Weii Jianshan took over, ”To be honest, after watching General Tian’s duel last night, we noticed that many of the techniques he used in mecha fighting were very similar to those from the Tai Sect, but much more advanced. Take the High Side Kick Followed by Windmill Knee Strike, for example. We absolutely cannot perform it at such a fast speed. To establish a new lineage, we need deep technical knowledge. Therefore, we would like to ask General Tian for some guidance.”

After speaking, all three looked at Fatty with hopeful eyes.

Fatty looked at Weii Jianshan with a strange expression, then at Geoffrey and Sankey, and suddenly burst into laughter, ”Are you three elders into business by trade? You’re so shrewd.” Laughing, his face turned serious, ”You want to leave just like that, what does that have to do with me? These core techniques aren’t something that can be taught with a few casual words.”

”Then what do you want in exchange for teaching?” In a moment of panic, Sankey couldn’t help but scream.

Since watching the duel, the three had been excited. In the video, Tian Xingjian piloted ordinary mecha provided by various gyms and used a set of swift and fierce fighting techniques, which had dazzled them. The movements they found awkward in Tai Sect techniques were effortlessly executed by this Fatty, some at an almost incredible level.

Long Jianshan was a second-level Mecha War God, and both Geoffrey and Sankey were Level 1 Mechanical Commanders. They had spent their lives immersed in mecha fighting and never dreamed that such ingenious techniques existed. From that moment on, Fatty’s identity ceased to matter. All they cared about was obtaining this set of techniques. Besides their obsession with mecha fighting, they believed with these techniques, Tai Sect could rise again even if it collapsed!

These three old foxes had gone to such lengths to indicate their attitude and make Fatty indebted. They also intended to pay some price, be it money or beauties, to acquire the techniques. They saw the Tai Sect’s uncertain future and wanted nothing to do with the upcoming power struggles, hoping to observe from Chuckna. In their view, they had exposed Fatty’s identity and betrayed Kubo to him, thinking he should be grateful and fulfill their wish. However, Fatty had remained unperturbed from the start, and now ruthlessly exposed their plans, mocking them with indifference.
