Counterfeit Hero

Helen hated him so much her teeth itched. She really wanted to add five more finger marks to the fatty’s right cheek.

She had seen shameless people, but never someone this shameless. This damn fatty was caught in the act by herself and still had the nerve to ask if she didn’t like wearing clothes! After taking a slap, with five finger marks on half of his face, he acted as if nothing had happened.

”Pah, scoundrel!” Helen spat.

The heroic image of the fatty had already completely collapsed. Now, as Helen gradually accepted a completely different image of the fatty, she didn’t know how she felt inside.

Nothing good ever happened when she met the fatty. Before, on the Blue Rose, she accidentally ended up being hugged by him. Now, he had seen her completely naked again...

Just thinking about the expression on the fatty’s face when he asked her in the bathroom made Helen’s cheeks instantly flush—she actually stood there dumbly, letting him feast his eyes.

While feeling agitated, Helen heard the fatty’s surprised voice in her ear again, ”Hey? Why is your face so red?”

If it weren’t for the sudden knock on the door, the porridge in Helen’s hand would have been thrown at him already.

The fatty opened the door.

Outside the door stood Third Elder Sankey, who was wearing a fracture splint on his hand.

Behind Sankey were two middle-aged men around forty years old. One was slightly thin and also of yellow race like the fatty. At a glance, the fatty could see a sense of sharpness emanating from this man.

The fatty’s mind raced, no need to ask, this was definitely the Museum Guardian War God of the Tai Sect—Seventh Elder Weii Jianshan. The plump, amiable, slightly balding man next to him was naturally Fourth Elder Geoffrey.

According to Barbarossa’s intelligence, Third Elder Sankey, Fourth Elder Geoffrey, and Seventh Elder Weii Jianshan were the traditional forces of the Tai Sect. When the Tai Sect was just a third-rate sect, these three were the most outstanding young disciples the Tai Sect could boast of. If it hadn’t been for Fourth Elder Geoffrey’s disdain for plotting and scheming, the position of the director would never have fallen to Kubo.

The fatty knew that these three had actually arrived at the Puluo Branch last night. With the huge mess he had caused, for them to wait until now to meet him clearly showed they were preparing for this.

”Third Elder!” The fatty’s acting prowess was evident as delight shone in his eyes, ”Why are you here, please come in quickly...”

The fatty enthusiastically pulled Sankey into the room. Anyone unaware of the situation would think they were old friends meeting again. Little would they know that just the night before last, he had broken this person’s thumb.

”Hehe.” Sankey smiled faintly, shrugged off the fatty’s hand, and said lightly, ”Should I call you Elder Guo or General Tian?”

With a ”clang,” Helen dropped the bowl in her hand.

”That wasteful woman.” The fatty laughed heartily, acting as if nothing had happened, ”Call me whatever, it doesn’t matter. We’re all friends here.”

Helen, who was eavesdropping with a face of panic, was almost going crazy. How could this fatty still laugh after his identity was exposed?

Sankey’s face was peculiar, and Geoffrey and Weii Jianshan exchanged glances of surprise. They had met many people, but never someone like this. It was as if having their identity exposed was just a trivial matter, indifferent to it all. His thick skin was unmatched.

”Then we’ll call you General Tian.” Among the three, Geoffrey was evidently the lead. This amiable-looking, slightly pot-bellied middle-aged man smiled gently and walked into the room first.

”Good morning.” Entering the room, Geoffrey bent slightly and greeted Helen gracefully, ”As expected from Leray’s Flower, Miss Helen is truly a beauty.”

As the three elders filed in, the outed Helen stood up awkwardly and nodded in response. She turned to look at the fatty, only to see him still grinning, showing no signs of tension.

”I never expected...” After sitting down, Weii Jianshan said coldly to the fatty, ”Curator Kubo used his special privileges to invite the Eleventh Elder, who turned out to be the renowned Federation Hero of the Leray Federation. Killed Gandi, crippled Monroe, and sealed nine halls in six hours. I wonder what act is General Tian playing?”

The fatty chuckled. This Weii Jianshan was direct, true to his name.

Since everything was out in the open, the fatty couldn’t be bothered with small talk. He lit a cigarette, and leisurely asked, ”We can discuss what act I’m playing later, but I’m curious how you three discovered our identities.”

”Dragons have their paths, and mice have their ways.” Geoffrey smiled, ”Others might not recognize you, but for us, it’s not difficult. Once we recognized you, we naturally knew Miss Helen’s identity too. What we don’t understand is, given your status, why humble yourself to become an elder of the Tai Sect. What’s your motive?”

”I heard that Tai Sect is thinking of joining hands with the Western Alliance.” The fatty said, ”I’m just here to throw a wrench in the works.”

This statement left the three elders momentarily stunned.

Since finding out about the fatty’s storming of the nine halls yesterday, they had been at the Puluo Branch first thing.

Then, the three locked themselves in a room and watched the footage from the hall challenges all night.

The more they watched, the more shocked and excited they became. Later, upon confirming the fatty’s identity through a certain channel, their first reaction had been that Kubo had aligned with the Fei Alliance. But soon, another piece of information overturned this hypothesis.

So, before coming here, they already knew this fatty and Kubo were not in cahoots. They also knew this hall-storming wasn’t ordered by Kubo.

Know thyself, know thy enemy, and a hundred battles would be won. Having confirmed the fatty’s identity and his relationship with Kubo, the three elders had some guesses about his intentions, although they weren’t entirely sure. For this reason, they decided to meet the fatty.

But who would have thought that after just a few exchanged words, the fatty would openly confirm their guess without any pretense.

This answer caught the three of them off guard. After all, they were all Tai Sect members and would naturally protect its interests.

To admit to causing trouble right in front of the victims, such brazenness probably only belonged to this fatty.

”What do you mean?!” Geoffrey’s face turned ashen first, he slammed the table and stood up, ”So you infiltrated Tai Sect just to create chaos!”

Geoffrey’s suddenly raised voice frightened Helen, causing her face to turn white.

Having rarely experienced such situations, Helen realized her courage wasn’t as big as she once thought.

Immediately, she heard the fatty’s infuriating reply, ”If not to cause chaos, why else would I come?”

Helen’s heart was in her throat.

But instead of erupting into a fierce conflict, the room fell into a deathly silence.

Only the fatty, still clueless about his impending doom, said, ”Why are you staring at me, jealous that I’m better looking than you?”

After a long moment...

Geoffrey spoke coldly, ”Do you not realize that with a shout from me, you would be dead beyond doubt!”

”I know.” The fatty’s voice was still calm and composed.

”You’re not scared?”

”Of course, I am!”

”Then why...” Geoffrey looked at the fatty as if he were an idiot.

The fatty puffed on his cigarette, without looking up, ”Relax, if I don’t want you to call for help, none of you will have the chance to make a sound.”

”Ridiculous!” Weii Jianshan slammed the table and stood up with Sankey.

”I’ll just...” Geoffrey shouted.

Before he could finish, the fatty who was lounging on the sofa suddenly sprang up, his hand flashed like lightning to Geoffrey’s throat, then he quickly pivoted, his toe pressed firmly against Sankey’s throat...

These swift moves happened in an instant. Sankey, Geoffrey, and Weii Jianshan stood frozen in their spots, cold sweat soaking through their clothes. If the fatty hadn’t held back, their throats would indeed have been unable to produce any sound by now.

”Very quickly...” Geoffrey swallowed with difficulty and gritted his teeth, ”You might kill two of us, but there are three of us.”

Once again, before he finished speaking, the three elders saw a blur, and the fatty’s toe momentarily touched Weii Jianshan’s Adam’s apple and then pressed back against Sankey’s throat.

Geoffrey slowly sat down on the sofa.

He understood that if the fatty decided to act, he could indeed silently eliminate all three of them in an instant.

This fatty was utterly fearless.
