Counterfeit Hero

”Open fire!” The commander of Demon’s Eye Fleet sneered as he gave the order. The enemy fleet rushing towards at high speed seemed to have no combat experience, focusing solely on charging forward without using long-range attacks to fend off. They allowed the escort ships to take advantageous positions and did not limit the transport ships’ ability to maneuver and escape.

The fierce enemies who don’t seize every opportunity to tip the scales of victory towards themselves are not worth fearing.

The light of the energy cannons swept through the void, followed by more than a dozen torpedoes with sputtering trails, chaotic and sudden from the four battleships.

Facing the early firing of Demon’s Eye Escort Fleet, the attacking fleet clustered together seemed to have no chance to evade. Their speed was too fast, and the distance was too close.

”These ragged ships dare to emulate robbery.” The captain of the Camel Trading Group Transport Ship responsible for this transportation task mocked while conveniently buttering up the fleet commander. As both were part of the Tai Sect, the transport ship captain knew well that the Demon’s Eye Pirate Group, now armed with the cruisers from the Western Alliance, had undergone significant transformations. They had surpassed the armed fleets of the Bullfighter Mercenary Group, becoming the strongest force under Tai Sect.

The other crew members of the transport ship, like their captain, had relaxed smirks hanging on their lips.

Although these crew members were only piloting ordinary transport ships, they had experienced or witnessed countless space battles. Looking at the chaotic and clustered attacking fleet, with its mottled hulls, incomplete armor, and dirty paint, they couldn’t understand where these pieces of junk had come from a prehistoric museum.

However, moments later, the sneers froze on everyone’s face.

The ship-mounted energy cannons of the escort battleships swept through the void, accurately hitting the first speeding ragged armed merchant ship. But as a layer of azure light rippled across the hit ship’s hull, the energy light cluster disappeared silently without any commotion.

This sight only occurs under one condition.

The energy shield strength of the attacked vessel far exceeds the attack strength. The powerful energy neutralization ability even offset the explosion wave of the energy cannon light.

How is this possible?

A dozen torpedoes followed closely with shocked eyes, sprinting into the attacking fleet.

This time, the stones thrown into the water finally splashed some waves.

The silent void seemed to be violently torn apart by an invisible hand, consecutive explosions enveloped the entire fleet. Shockwaves formed by the flames and light of the explosions interweaved, spreading in all directions.

Such dense torpedo attacks, even a nation’s military warships couldn’t bear, right?

The hearts stuck in their throats fell back into their chests.

Every crew member of the Demon’s Eye Transport Fleet let out a menacing roar, waiting for the dazzling intense light to fade, to see the fate of the ragged fleet in front.

But the roaring stopped abruptly, like a duck with its neck strangled.

Within the bright flame of the explosions, the ragged fleet emerged silently. First came their bows, then the hulls, one after another.

Still charging at high speed.

”God!”

The transport fleet crew who had just completed their turn, watched wide-eyed as these ragged warships, like fierce beasts from ancient times, directly collided with the foremost armed merchant ship of their fleet trying to evade.

The armed merchant ship that had just performed its first volley couldn’t escape the incoming madmen.

Two ragged armed merchant ships rammed into it, front and back without reducing speed. In the silent space, without sound propagation, only the communication channels filled with chaotic electronic noise and a few extremely fearful screams. Outside the porthole, the impacted armed merchant ship was struck simultaneously by two hammers, its twisted hull torn apart on impact, the bright lights from internal corridors showing through like ferocious wounds.

Then it disintegrated.

The entire ship broke into three segments, the leaking energy from the power cabin turning that section of the void white, the life support system pipelines ruptured, dispersing artificial air with 21% oxygen into space, the electronic cables torn apart, tangled messily, flickering sparks. Large pieces of hull, armor, and internal objects were scattered.

Simultaneously, the three escort ships positioned at the front-right of the fleet encountered a devastating blow.

The enormous, dilapidated monstrous ship acted like a ruthless giant beast, directly crashing into the escort ships’ formation. After a brutal breakthrough, two escort ships became fragments attached to its tall bow. The escort ship that narrowly scraped past the beast ship barely lasted a few seconds before turning into a dazzling fireworks beside the ragged giant ship with the passing of several white flashes.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye. The disdain on the faces of the transport ships’ crew had not faded, but their hearts turned cold. No one had ever seen such a way of space combat. The madmen were even too lazy to fire; they acted like a bunch of savage rhinos, crushing all resistance just with their bows.

”Madmen!” The transport ship captain jumped up, screaming the sentiment of everyone: ”They’re madmen, all madmen!”
