Counterfeit Hero

To fan the flames even further, Fatty had Chekov deploy all over a hundred Mech Knights. Some stayed at the spaceport to provide support, while the fifty most elite warriors entered Puluo Town in groups.

Fatty wouldn’t let the Sect War be resolved through traditional means—if Absolute Kill Stream or Mountain Breaker Sect dared to come to the Tai Sect Branch to provoke, he would dare to strike at them!

The bandit soldiers who entered Puluo Town were ready and waiting for Fatty’s command.

But—who could have expected, a Cheng Yaojin popped up unexpectedly, and someone preemptively took care of the task Fatty had planned!

Tian Xingjian scratched his head awkwardly and sighed.

What he could do was always just the beginning. The ensuing situation was beyond his control. The waters of the Free World were too deep. Seeing those mechas attacking Absolute Kill Stream, if Kubo wasn’t a madman, then there was only one explanation—someone had long been prepared to disrupt the situation! The mechas they produced and the Mech Knights they trained, all heavily imitated the Tai Sect style! This couldn’t have been done in a short period.

”Mountain Breaker Sect?” Fatty’s mind was racing, and the more he thought about it, the more bizarre the happenings at Mars Free Port seemed. Things that mainstream human society wouldn’t do were unrestricted in this fringe world. The inhabitants here, constantly scheming and murdering, saw all maleficence as a matter of course, their minds ingrained with plots and intrigues from a young age.

He had merely captured the moment when Kubo appeared at the Phantom Stream headquarters to use the Tai Sect as a guise, provoking and intensifying conflicts before everyone could react. If he had really led the Redbeard Pirate Group to confront these forces one by one, it would have been a death wish.

Holding an apple, he took a bite, loudly munching. Fatty looked at the three elders downstairs, his eyes darting around.

According to the plan discussed with Chekov, if it was just about causing chaos, then it was time to make a move. However, to capture the Tai Sect and split this monster, the three elders were within Fatty’s assault range! The elders couldn’t keep their cool, and Fatty always liked to use every resource he could, squeezing every bit of utility. Knowing the internal division of the Tai Sect and knowing the three old guys’ obsession with Mecha Martial Arts, not tying them up to his cause would make Fatty’s conscience uneasy for the rest of his life.

Looking at a distant figure still twisting his finger in his ear in shock, Fatty opened his communicator: ”Abort Plan A, proceed directly to Plan B!”

Magit heard Nakagawa Daiki’s command in his earpiece.

He used his fingers to pluck the chewing gum from his mouth and pressed it onto the parapet of the roof. A sinister smile appeared on Magit’s face, which had a large scar running from the corner of his eye, across his lips, to his chin.

The electronic sight of the Ailo Type C sniper rifle was already aimed at the gate of the Puluo Branch. The reticle was locked onto Fourth Elder Geoffrey’s head. Just a light pull of the trigger, and this core figure of the Tai Sect would become history.

Magit enjoyed this feeling. It was the sensation of holding someone’s fate in his hands. Like an omniscient and omnipotent god, he overlooked the masses from the heavens, deciding between judgment and mercy in a single thought.

Magit didn’t fire. He was waiting patiently.

His companions downstairs would appear in ten seconds, emerging from the crowd, the nearby building lobbies, and corners, launching an attack on the Puluo Branch. Their only target here... Magit pulled out a photo and stuck it on the chewing gum. The photo displayed a sneering Fatty.

Magit knew who this Fatty was.

It was this Fatty who had killed Hopkins, once second in the assassination rankings.

Gazalin was a small country, largely unknown to many. Besides knowing it was militaristic, there wasn’t much attention paid to it. Even their Mythical Army seemed merely more professional compared to countries like Leray.

If the Mythical Army were placed in other major countries, this army, which had never been on a battlefield, would have been annihilated countless times.

However, very few knew that in the secretive world of assassins, Gazalin had a figure who could not be underestimated.

That was Hopkins, a cold-blooded, fanatical extreme nationalist and a genius assassin.

Assassin rankings aren’t based on the number of kills but on a precise analysis including task difficulty, target security, completion time, success rate, etc. Hopkins being ranked second and holding onto that spot firmly spoke volumes about his skill.

For anyone in the assassination business, engaging in dynamic sniping with someone like Hopkins was a nightmare scenario, fervently prayed against daily.

Yet, Hopkins was dead.

He died in a dynamic sniping, killed by a Fatty.

Magit looked at the photo of the grinning Fatty and couldn’t fathom how this Fatty had managed to kill Hopkins.

In any case, this Fatty had become famous. In the assassination world, countless people wanted a piece of him. However, since his details had become utterly distorted overnight, truth and falsehood mingling, no one dared to make a move without understanding his true capabilities. After all, he was a Leray Federation soldier, and no assassin organization, no matter how powerful, would dare to directly confront the military, let alone individual assassins.
