Counterfeit Hero

Dozens of Bullfighter mercenaries didn’t even have a chance to hide before they were directly vaporized into ashes by the overwhelming energy cannon barrage. The eight support mechas attacking the Tai Sect branch only managed to hold out for two more seconds in the molten-like wave. Then, they melted away like snow.

The mercenaries attacking the Fighting Arena instantly collapsed.

On the wide First Avenue, there were no trenches, no cover, no alloy composite bulletproof walls, no portable energy shield generators. Facing these mechas that suddenly appeared in the Free World with military energy equipment, crazily slaughtering, there was no chance of victory at all.

A few attackers at the back of the assault team, miraculously surviving, threw away their rocket launchers and rifles in horror and scattered in all directions, frantically fleeing. In the close-up shots, their expressions could be clearly seen... an expression of ultimate terror, their eyes were about to burst.

After all, they were well-trained mercenaries, fleeing quickly, leaping tens of meters in a few strides. Their agile bodies burst with the utmost power, streets, trees, flying past as they ran. Even the cameraman’s lens almost couldn’t keep up with their escape pace.

But, no one could escape.

The bandit army soldiers, their eyes red, had no intention of letting anyone go.

The reporters only saw one mecha after another speeding up like the wind, rising to the air, whistling with a wild wind.

The fleeing attackers were caught up by them one by one, trampled to death, slapped to death, crushed to death. Bright red blood mixed with bodies already turned to pulp, spreading in patches of bloody flowers on the exploded, blackened road.

Seconds later, in the trembling lens of the cameraman, the last mercenary had already knelt down, raising his hands. This robust middle-aged man had a weathered face, his innocent eyes filled with fear and pleading... It’s hard to imagine, but just a few minutes ago, he had just shot and killed a young Tai Sect trainee.

Without any hesitation.

A mecha stepped directly onto him.

The huge and heavy body landed with a loud ”bang”. The fractured road kicked up a circle of radiating dust, and in that dust, there was clearly a mist of bloody rain.

So ruthless!

Who are these mechas?

Are they also Kubo’s ambush?

This was the question in everyone’s mind at the scene.

The reporters hiding in the corners, the fleeing civilians, the stunned Tai Sect Disciples, and the Absolute Kill Stream being slaughtered and those suddenly-appearing ”Tai Sect” mechas, all were baffled as to which force in the Free World could command such a coordinated, cold-blooded, and sharp warriors!

What they had was only shock. A kind of unprecedented, eye-popping shock.

Compared to these mechas, those close-combat mechas that had already disengaged from the fight appeared like children squabbling.

Magit retracted his sniper rifle, leaning in a corner, gasping for breath.

A few seconds earlier, his crosshairs were locked on Fatty’s head for a fraction of a second.

Although it was only a fleeting glimpse, although Fatty was covered in blood, Magit swore he saw that guy.

No chance to shoot, but Magit didn’t regret it.

He even felt fortunate because of it.

Of the Bullfighter mercenaries who came with him on this mission, he was the only one left.

The rest all died. Either ground to dust under the insane bombardment or squashed into pulp under the mechas’ feet.

Magit had no doubt, if he were exposed, his fate would be the same as his recently-alive brothers downstairs.

These mechas, definitely weren’t sent by Kubo.

They didn’t even belong to any force in the Free World.

Because, Fatty entered the cockpit of a picking-up mecha from a second-floor window.

When those frenzied mechas saw him, they only did one thing, that was to neatly retract into a protective formation.

At that moment, Magit had a feeling.

It was like a pack of out-of-control wolves suddenly turning into a team of meticulously trained, obedient hunting dogs.

Only when serving in Jiepeng did Magit have a similar feeling, and that was from the most elite troops of Jiepeng. Back then, he had been a member of that special armored division.

But he didn’t expect to relive that feeling after many years in a suddenly-appearing mecha squad, which sent chills down his spine.
