Counterfeit Hero

However, in the end, he didn’t board the ship; instead, he was thrown into the 5th Armored Division of the Aviation Marine Corps. The reason was precisely his body size, which was unsuitable for squeezing into small escape pods in emergencies.

Fucking humiliating.

With the grudge from being rejected by the fleet, and the need to study Casper’s Work Journal, he pinned two Purple Emblem Freedom Medals on his chest as he roamed around the destroyer, poking into every compartment he found.

Of course, even for a Federation Hero, such behavior was not welcomed aboard the warship.

”Eh! What’s this?” Fatty stood in the spotless Power Cabin, curiously looking at the huge four-link gravity accelerator engine at the center of the cabin.

”This is the new four-link gravity accelerator engine, Colonel.” A duty lieutenant in the Power Cabin replied with a deadpan face.

The Power Cabin is the core area of the cruiser, and without special permission, not even the officers onboard the ship can enter casually, let alone passengers. However, with two Purple Emblem Freedom Medals pinned on his chest, Fatty barged right in, wandering around like a curious baby.

There was no choice. The lieutenant had to send someone to notify the ship captain while following Fatty step-by-step, subtly blocking his curious eyes and erratic movements.

”Eh, what’s this again?” Fatty walked a few steps and asked.

The lieutenant paused, ”What?”

”This one, this big guy right here.” Fatty gestured wildly.

The lieutenant walked to Fatty’s position and followed his hand, ”Colonel, this is the four-link gravity accelerator engine!”

”Oh!” Fatty scratched his head in confusion, then changed his viewpoint to look at the engine again, ”From this angle, is it still the four-link gravity accelerator engine?”

The lieutenant was on the verge of collapse. What was wrong with this fatty? Did changing the angle make it a different engine?

”Eh, this time it’s definitely different, right? Don’t tell me this is still the four-link gravity accelerator engine!”

”......”

By the time Colonel Chekov received the report and hurried over, Fatty had already left. The only thing remaining in the Power Cabin was a dumbfounded lieutenant.

Although he successfully stopped Fatty from snooping around, the cost was too high. Being asked hundreds of times about the same thing from different angles by a curious officer was a nightmare. The dazed lieutenant began to wonder if he would rush into the kitchen to grab a knife and start crying while hacking around if Fatty asked a few more times.

From that day on, Fatty began his research work. Every day, he either drilled into the gaps of the circuit pipelines, squatted beside the energy system’s return pipe network in a daze, or orbited the main engine, changing angles and staring at the duty lieutenant.

With Fatty’s antics, the previously quiet and dull voyage of the warship’s over 500 officers and the 40 students heading to Chuckna for exchange study turned into a chaotic mess. The students enjoyed the spectacle, while the ship’s officers were all on edge.

It was said that this fatty had already driven several people insane!

......

A few days ago, he was merely looking around, which the destroyer’s warriors didn’t mind. But later on, something even more maddening happened.

This fatty started using his hands as well. With his arms equipped with an automatic repair arm, he began dismantling whatever he caught, examining it thoroughly, and then reassembling it.

Radars, fire control, energy towers, main guns, torpedo cabins, missile launchers, engine jet nozzles, control systems—all of them couldn’t escape Fatty’s Magic Palm! He often stared at equipment for a long time and then rolled up his sleeves to start dismantling!

This was no toy; it was a new-style destroyer in the midst of a voyage! Could he casually take things apart?

The worst part was, this fatty was a Federation Hero, untouchable by scolding or hitting. Even the captain’s bans didn’t work on him. With those two Purple Emblem Freedom Medals, not only could he roam freely in the small destroyer’s compartments, but he could also access the Command Department’s classified archives, strategic meeting rooms, and command rooms unhindered.

If anyone tried to stop him, they had to be prepared to be teased. This fatty had countless tricks up his sleeve. Asking the same question hundreds of times was just the beginning. He could snap your nude photos when you were not paying attention, cheat in card games to win your money and then blackmail you, spread rumors about your sexual orientation, or even steal female soldiers’ underwear to frame you. This hero could do it all!

Is this guy really a Federation Hero?

Many people were clueless, but at least the first thing the driven-to-insanity individuals did was tear up Fatty’s autograph!

The most troubled man was undoubtedly Colonel Chekov, the ship captain of the Blue Rose destroyer.

As a seasoned veteran who rose from a fire observer on the Federation Fourth Mixed Fleet’s Static Sea Shark cruiser to a gunner, fire control officer, combat chief, and eventually a destroyer ship captain, dedicating half of his life to space and warships, how could Chekov tolerate receiving dozens of reports daily, all about that fatty barging into the Power Cabin, radar room, energy shield generator room, or even the female locker room?

Just looking around was one thing, ignoring his bans was another, but what drove Chekov mad was that this fatty had the audacity to actually dismantle equipment! When confronted, Fatty even respectfully claimed he was performing advanced modifications on the warship.

If it wasn’t for the Damage Control Team always deeming the equipment normal after the inspection, without discovering any damage, and the ship’s central computer fault system not reporting any malfunctions, Chekov would have long treated this fatty as a saboteur and arrested him!
