Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 566: Volume 6 Chapter 40 Challenge

Being able to rank tenth among millions of Mecha enthusiasts evidently makes Tansxiaojian a Mecha Master.

To be more precise, at least in the online world, he can be considered a Mecha Master!

But a careful thought about the current state of the Mecha Fighting World reveals that being ranked tenth online doesn’t necessarily mean one is ranked tenth in reality. One may not even make it into the top hundred or thousand in reality!

The reason is simple. Each private Mecha Fighting school has its own secrets. In reality, how one fights can vary and no one knows how a Mech Knight operates in the cockpit. Online, however, it is different. Any master’s operation inevitably leaves a trace.

In the online world, these operations themselves are programs and data!

Secretive Mecha Fighting schools, viewing from the perspective of both interest and tradition, would never allow their techniques to be controlled by game operators or anyone else.

As a result, many private fighting masters are explicitly forbidden from participating in online games. Hence, the value of fighting techniques in the online world is much lower than in the real Mecha Fighting World.

This ”Tangsxiaojian” happens to be a member of a private Mecha Fighting school known as the Tai Sect! His role is the chief instructor at the Chuckna Capital branch of the Tai Sect!

Ranked fourth in the current Fighting World, the Tai Sect is a newly rising school known for its aggressive and quick close-combat techniques. Equally notorious as their fighting style is their brash, arrogant, brutal, and domineering school culture.

If one were to choose the most unreasonable private Mecha Fighting school, it would undoubtedly be the Tai Sect. They are not only ruthless and reckless in fighting, but also handle disputes and compete for interests in the same ruthless and reckless manner.

From the first day of joining the Tai Sect, every student is required to fully adhere to the Tai Sect’s fighting spirit. This means using the fiercest momentum and the most reckless fighting style to kill any opponent! The Tai Sect’s ethos of ’Victor is King, Defeated is Scum’ emphasizes that as long as one has strength, one can obtain everything. Beating the opponent by any means necessary is considered the first priority.

Under such an unreasonable fighting spirit, the entire Tai Sect has become a group exuding ferocity. They provoke any opponent without reason, scoffing at traditional private Mecha. They worship violence, and many members are involved in criminal activities like robbery and murder.

Anyone who dares to mess with anyone from the Tai Sect is like stabbing a hornet’s nest. The Tai Sect members will unleash endless retaliations using all means necessary.

This has made the Tai Sect both detested by many and feared by numerous schools. As their power continues to grow, the Tai Sect has become a destabilizing force in the private Mecha Fighting World. Numerous schools can only endure their oppression in silence.

Tansxiaojian was originally just an ordinary history teacher who occasionally played with Mechas. His skill level was barely enough to show off in front of some students. Being prideful and somewhat vain, he often lamented his unfulfilled ambitions despite having vast knowledge.

Of course, these laments were expressed in front of naive students or some beautiful women.

He called himself a thinker, a thinker disillusioned and distressed by reality. Tansxiaojian looked down on everything and every system, vehemently criticized faults in public, yet read ”Dream of the Red Chamber” in secret, fantasizing himself as Jia Baoyu. Occasionally overwhelmed by emotions, he even wept openly, lamenting his doomed fate in an era where no one appreciates true talent.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t exactly a handsome man. Moreover, his foul mouth and lack of tact finally got him into trouble at a bar, leading to a severe beating by members of the Tai Sect.

After being beaten, Tansxiaojian became more subdued. His thoughts underwent a profound change. He had no choice but to change; getting beaten up several times a day by the Tai Sect convinced him it was essential for survival. He abandoned his noble heart in favor of preserving his life. So, he resigned, sold his assets, left his wife, children, and parents, and gritted his teeth to join the Tai Sect.

Having experienced the Tai Sect’s brute strength, Tansxiaojian decided to live a new life. Thus, the self-proclaimed noble and honest thinker found excuses and opportunities to become an outright scoundrel.

In the Tai Sect, Tansxiaojian faced a lot of hardships. His cultural level being generally higher than the hooligan and pirate students who only knew how to cause trouble, he had a better understanding. Since he had shed his look of a saint, Tansxiaojian licked boots when necessary and flattered others when appropriate. After offering a number of underhanded ideas to the Tai Sect, he eventually gained their favor. Under the guidance of instructors at the Mechanical Armor Hall, Tansxiaojian took eight years to finally make his mark, becoming the chief instructor at the Hanjing branch in the Chuckna Capital.

Initially, Tansxiaojian had no connection to the ”Sky-Filling Fire.” The Tai Sect also prohibited its members from engaging in online Mecha games. However, due to the complex nature of the Tai Sect’s membership and lax internal management, many members played online as long as they did not use the Tai Sect’s secret techniques, and the higher-ups turned a blind eye.

It was only after meeting a female Feiyang officer named Margaret that Tansxiaojian decided to enter ”Sky-Filling Fire.” The reason was simple: he was too captivated by the beautiful officer. Margaret’s disdainful and even hostile reaction towards him made Tansxiaojian realize that he had to showcase his best side.

Appearance aside, the best side to show was naturally his Mecha fighting skills.

Upon discovering that Margaret was an avid player of ”Sky-Filling Fire,” Tansxiaojian was overjoyed. He immediately tossed the prohibition out of his mind, rolled and crawled to register an account, and became an online player!

In this world made up of ordinary Mecha enthusiasts, Tansxiaojian discovered with delight that he could still be a big fish in a small pond. In just a year, he quickly ascended to the tenth place in the Mecha rankings!

However, Margaret seemed uninterested in his glory, much to the surprise of the self-proclaimed chivalrous Tansxiaojian.

While racking his brain for ways to leave a deep impression on Margaret, SM01314 appeared. This guy quickly shot up to the eleventh place in the rankings.

The powerful SM01314 made Tansxiaojian feel uneasy, afraid that one day he would be knocked off and make a fool of himself in front of Margaret. For several days, he stayed offline. Later, upon noticing that Margaret gritted her teeth whenever SM01314 was mentioned, Tansxiaojian felt a glimmer of hope again.

If SM01314’s sudden disappearance had left Tansxiaojian feeling relieved yet disappointed, then this time, Tansxiaojian was simply laughing with glee.

Not only had he defeated Margaret over a hundred times, but this guy seemed to have had a screw loose, piloting a shabby Simple Mecha that was worse than Undead Walker’s wreckage, standing in the middle of the viewing hall and shouting, ”Who wants to beat me up?!”

A godsend opportunity! Without hesitation, Tansxiaojian stood up righteously!

”You?” Fatty looked hesitantly at the Cold Radiance before him. Everyone could see that his own Mecha was a Simple Mecha, facing the top-tier system Mecha. The disparity was too great. How could this guy not feel ashamed?

”It’s me!” Tansxiaojian said coldly, ”You’ve angered everyone here. It’s time you learned a lesson!”

”Bah! You think you’re the one to teach me a lesson?! You don’t even know how to spell ’death’!” Fatty spit vehemently. The Mecha’s mechanical arm selected Tansxiaojian’s top-ranked challenge from the arena list.

”Wow, a clash of titans. The tenth versus the eleventh fight.”

The viewing hall buzzed with excitement as everyone thought the two were about to fight, but Fatty suddenly roared, ”I’m not fighting you. Go play by yourself! Teach me a lesson, my foot!”

Saying this, he deleted Tansxiaojian’s challenge request!

The sudden change left Tansxiaojian, who was prepared to be transported to the battle map, almost having a stroke.

”You... you...” Tansxiaojian was enraged.

”What ’you’? If you can’t even speak clearly, what are you doing playing with Mechas!” Fatty was also furious.

”Don’t you have any shame?” Tansxiaojian resorted to provoking him: ”Now I understand how you got your 300+ victories, by bullying the weak! You’re nothing but a scoundrel!”

”Brainless idiot!” Fatty sneered, ”I’ve been bullying the weak for so long, and you’re only realizing it now?”

Tansxiaojian was at a loss for words, not expecting SM01314 to be so shameless. He could only curse, ”Coward! Scaredy-cat! You’re garbage with a mother but no upbringing!”

”.....”

”Send your challenge over,” Fatty’s voice was calm, as if he had suddenly changed his mind: ”I’ll play with you.”
