Chapter 553: Volume 6 Chapter 35 Don’t Give Me A Chance

Fatty didn’t know that due to a proposal by the Command Department, a top-secret project, including the establishment of a new Independent Army and a new Second-level Fleet, had already been initiated... The Command Department had to plan ahead. The ever-changing and unpredictable situation didn’t allow them to sit back and watch.

Fatty was pretending to watch TV, his mind wandering. At this moment, only he and Ann Lei were left in the living room. In the quiet living room, only the sound of the television filled the air, the light from the virtual screen flickered, casting dark and light shades. Fatty could even hear his own heartbeat and felt Ann Lei’s slightly feverish face pressed against his arm.

Fatty didn’t know what Ann’s mother said to the three girls while washing the dishes in the kitchen, but once everything was cleaned up, Milan gave him a coquettish glare, pulled the blushing Bonnie with her, and fled back to the Gallipalan College dormitory.

”What did Mother Ann say to you?” Fatty asked casually, pretending to be nonchalant. ”Why did each one of you seem so overwhelmed?”

”Pfft!” Ann Lei’s face moved slightly away from his arm, spat lightly, and playfully slapped him. ”Why do you want to know so much about women’s matters?”

Fatty took the hit in silence and sensibly closed his mouth.

”Mother just wants to hold her grandchild.” Thinking of her mother’s words, Ann Lei, who buried her face back on Fatty’s arm, felt so shy that she wanted to find a place to hide her face.

Her mother’s expectant gaze made Ann Lei suddenly realize she had grown up. She was no longer the little girl who clung to her mother’s side, acting spoiled. This change made her feel both frantic and joyful, with a touch of inexplicable melancholy.

Fatty was flipping through the TV channels. Suddenly, he stopped the remote.

”In winter, pregnant women need to stay warm. Early-stage pregnant women need to supplement...” On TV, a host resembling an obstetrician was introducing pregnancy knowledge.

Fatty stared at the TV with a goofy look, nodding earnestly and frequently.

Embarrassed beyond words, the girl pounced on the dastardly Fatty, raining small fists down on him like raindrops, making Fatty roll on the sofa. In the dimly lit living room, filled with warmth and ambiguity, with the flickering lights from the TV, Fatty’s cries for mercy and Ann Lei’s bell-like laughter echoed.

”When we leave, Mother will be alone again.” After a long while, leaning shyly in Fatty’s arms, with a flushed face, Ann Lei thought of Fatty’s sneaky kiss just now and his roving hands, making her feel weak all over.

Thinking about her mother, Ann Lei sighed softly, ”I wonder when this war will end.”

”What’s the situation in the Bermuda Star System now?” Talking about this topic made Fatty a bit worried too. The growing sense of crisis made him uneasy.

Perhaps he really should consider Boswell’s crazy plan seriously. If Leray continued in this way, destruction was inevitable. If nothing was done now, it would be too late when Leray was in dire straits.

Ann Lei, now a Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Intelligence Bureau, with her position adjusted from a liaison officer to deputy group leader in a subordinate team of the Military Affairs Department, responsible for monitoring enemy communications and battlefield electronic surveillance intelligence. She was more than familiar with the Bermuda battle situation. She said worriedly, ”The situation is very pessimistic. According to the intelligence we have, the enemy is planning a major offensive.”

”Targeting the Bermuda Battle Zone?” Fatty frowned.

”There is no precise intelligence yet.” Ann Lei sat up from Fatty’s arms, absentmindedly sliding her white jade-like feet in and out of the slippers under the sofa. ”Besides the Desic Empire on the eastern front, gathering troops at the Little Pyrenees border, the Jiepeng Empire and the Suss Empire are also making similar moves. According to our gathered intelligence, these three countries, along with a United Fleet stationed in Desic from the Binart Empire, have a total force exceeding sixteen mixed fleets, sixty-six fully equipped armored divisions, and over two hundred fully mechanized infantry divisions.”

Fatty’s head swelled instantly. This force, in numbers, was only twice Leray’s current strength, but if they managed to deploy this force simultaneously on two fronts, Leray would have no chance! Mobilizing such a massive force, what was the Western Alliance planning? Did they intend to win decisively in one battle?

”Suss? Why is there the Suss Empire?” Fatty suddenly thought of something and said in surprise, ”Aren’t they at war with Chuckna?”

”Since Suss’s lightning invasion of the Resk Star System, Chuckna doesn’t seem in a hurry to reclaim lost ground. This nation’s combat strength is well-known, but they seem content to just block the Suss Empire outside the Long March Star System.” Ann Lei frowned slightly. ”This time, we learned that the Suss Empire gathered a mixed fleet domestically, with five armored divisions and fourteen infantry divisions. Their target is clearly not the Resk Star System.”

”What did the Fei Alliance Joint Military Command say?” Fatty wondered while pondering the Suss Empire’s intention of assembling such heavy troops.

”They issued operational guidance.” Ann Lei curled her slender legs under her soft hips, leaning against the armrest. ”They required the Saleria Federation, Knevel Republic, Tatania Commercial Alliance, Puditok Federation, and us to conduct joint operations under the command of the Allied Command Center, with the assistance of the First and Second Southeast Expeditionary Fleets.”
