Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 567: After modification: Volume 6 Chapter 41 S-Class Showdown

Although he stepped forward righteously, in actuality, he wasn’t more popular than Fatty in the game.

Many players knew that on the surface, he appeared to be a noble gentleman, but in reality, he was arrogant and condescending. What annoyed people the most was his habit of first accusing others of moral corruption in everything he did.

Watching the exchange between the two, all the players couldn’t help but feel disdain for him.

Although SM01314 was hateful, he indeed relied on real skills since the beginning. Whomever facing the siege of millions and still being able to move like a deity deserved respect. The players genuinely hated him and admired him at the same time.

Now, he suddenly jumped out to challenge SM01314. Everyone knew he saw the Simple Mecha SM01314 was currently driving and thought he was easy to bully. Taking advantage is one thing, but pretending to be everyone’s spokesperson was disgusting, like swallowing a fly.

Once the hall quieted down, the Sleazy God Sect followers, submerged in the noise, began to voice their opinions. Each one sounded sarcastic.

”Look, usually pretending to be a noble gentleman. Once he’s outmatched, he starts cursing. I think his tenth place on the ranking is probably just mediocre.”

”This is called being furious out of shame. He faces rejection but still shamelessly pushes himself forward. Could he be the so-called scoundrel?”

”I bet he’s just a gigolo in reality. The kind fat women weighing three hundred pounds keep around and bully.”

”No wonder he is addicted to SM. Just the sight of these letters excites him.”

”Gigolo! I was wondering why someone would use Cold Radiance to challenge a Simple Mecha and still being so self-righteous. His face must not only be white but also thick.”

”You all are mistaken, what gigolo? Given his shabby appearance, if he could be a gigolo, his ancestors probably burned high incense in their past lives!”

Looking pale, he ignored the players’ ridicule and issued a challenge. The winner is king, as long as he won, everything would be fine! He decided to destroy that shabby Simple Mecha into pieces.

The challenge at the top of the announcement board was once again rejected by Fatty! Just as everyone was taken aback, another challenge application from Fatty appeared on the announcement board.

”S-level Duel!”

An uproar ensued.

This was the most ruthless fighting style in Sky-Filling Fire. Once the battle began, the map would be locked. Surrendering was not an option; the fight only ended when the system verified one side’s Mecha was completely wrecked!

In four words - not stopping until death!

Fatty’s move immediately brought laughter to the spectating hall. The players clearly saw that he was momentarily distracted when Fatty proposed the challenge.

If challenging with Cold Radiance against a shabby Mecha was unfair, then Fatty’s play completely reversed the situation!

The value of a worn-out Skull Mecha was nowhere near that of Cold Radiance. It was like a bet where both sides wage all their assets, but one side generously bet only one dollar against billions! It made one feel both enraged and amused.

Human psychology is like this; the same thing appears different when seen from another angle. The players found it amusing that he felt he got a bad deal. Perhaps, he was regretting using Cold Radiance to challenge.

”He! He!”

Suddenly, rousing cheers echoed through the hall. His name was chanted rhythmically by the players, led by the same Sleazy God Sect followers who mocked him earlier. Teasing people was their specialty.

Stuck in a dilemma, he finally clicked the confirmation button on the challenge application.

Two flashes of white light filled the spectator hall, transporting the two Mechas to a randomly generated battle map.

All players were familiar with this map... a commonly used simulated battlefield. It simulated a famous battle from centuries ago - the Tara Plain Battle.

Though called a plain battle, the central battlefield was actually a small hill named Beifeng Ridge. Back then, Feiyang Republic and Binart Empire engaged in a massive and brutal conflict around this 300-meter high hill.

A Feiyang Republic Armored Division tried to break through eastward from Beifeng Ridge but ran head-on into two Binart Armored Divisions. Both sides’ SkyNet Systems were interfered with, and the night battle turned into an intense melee from the start.

Throughout the more than two-month-long Tara Plain Battle, both sides introduced 18 Armored Divisions into the five-square-kilometer Beifeng Ridge area.

Every inch of Beifeng Ridge was contested thousands of times, and the firepower nearly flattened the small hill. A total of 200,000 soldiers were buried there. The casualties equaled those in the rest of Tara Plain combined. The small Beifeng Ridge turned into a graveyard of Mecha wreckage.

This historic battle is revered by military enthusiasts as a classic. In military academies, it is one of the most analyzed cases. The rapid changing strategies of both commanders, the intense combat, the complex battle conditions, and the fog of war, along with some bizarre occurrences, fascinate people endlessly.
