Chapter 978: Chapter 345 Beverly Pass (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_4

With the slow descent of the Blood Feathered Horned Eagle, the distinctive purple forest below could be seen, with trunks bearing purple coconut-sized lumps emitting a faint pungent odor.

”Is this the Purple Knotwood?”

”Yes, Lord Rein.”

...

Beverly Pass.

There was no shortage of travelers and caravans coming and going, moving orderly in lines through the purple forest.

Rein at this time also saw that the so-called mountain pass was merely a path through the Purple Knotwood Forest.

”Everyone take note, no fighting is allowed within the passage. The noise of battle will attract the attention of Wind Rocs. Do not damage the Purple Knotwood...” shouted the guards at the passage entrance, reminding everyone from time to time.

Rein and his group of three, along with the Blood Feather, followed behind a caravan and headed towards the passage.

...

Shortly after Rein’s group landed, four or five large black birds suddenly flew from the distant sky.

On the front two birds, two individuals were conversing.

”Great Priest Erikson, with your breakthrough this time, your pure physical strength has surpassed the limit of a Great Knight by several folds. I believe no one within the church can surpass you now.”

”I heard over at Frostwind Prairie, the barbarian clan leader has an exceptionally formidable physique. You could test your skills against him.”

A hooded figure in a black robe spoke somewhat respectfully to the middle-aged person in a black robe beside him.

”Heh, that’s what I was thinking.” The middle-aged man named Erikson seemed quite interested when his subordinate mentioned the barbarian clan leader.

”By the way, Great Priest Erikson, I heard in the church that in the Central Empire’s Mingster Province, our church suffered heavy losses?”

”Yes, that’s indeed the case. It’s surprising though, given that Exeter’s prowess is quite substantial; such an incident shouldn’t have happened.” Hearing this, Erikson’s brow furrowed slightly as he spoke.

...

”Caw! Caw!”

Soon, the other birds landed as well, and the strange bird songs naturally attracted Rein’s group’s attention.

These large black birds had bald necks and blood-red eyes, exuding a sense of wild brutality.

”Giant Carrion Vultures!” Melita whispered.

”Using such fierce birds as mounts, these people are not simple.”

”Yes, these carrion vultures are very irritable.” Anna nodded.

As a Druid, she had the ability to sense the emotions of beasts.

Rein glanced at the carrion vultures, then focused his attention on the people who dismounted from them.

The leading pair, dressed in black robes, one burly and one thin, had a deep and concealed aura, clearly intentionally masking their power.

The other three were dressed in knights’ attire, robust in build, but seemed like followers, judging from their aura, they should possess strength near that of Senior Knights.

However, Rein found their aura disturbingly familiar.

”Out of the way!”

”Don’t block the road!” The three Senior Knights shouted imperiously, as if there was no one around them.

The sudden emergence of these five individuals seemed to unsettle the other travelers and caravans in the passage, who promptly stepped aside to make way.

Quickly, the group of five reached the center of the passage, near Rein’s group.

”By the way, any news from Kroli’s side?”

”Great Priest Erikson, Kroli just sent a message two hours ago. They have allied with the White-furred Bear Monster to attack the barbarian tribe....”

The two black-robed individuals walking at the back continued their hushed conversation.

Despite the distance, Rein clearly heard the words ’Great Priest’ and ’barbarian tribe’, which caused him to narrow his eyes.

However, he did not continue to stare at them.

At their level of power, they were already very sensitive to being watched.

At this moment, they also spotted Rein’s group ahead. Clearly, upon seeing the three dressed in white Wizard Robes, they were visibly surprised.

Especially the three knights leading the way, who cast unrestrained glances at Melita’s fine appearance and figure as they passed by, even letting out a wolf whistle.

”That girl has a nice body.”

”I hear witches are very open-minded.”

”Maybe she takes a liking to your type...”

...

Their teasing caused Melita to become furious, her chest heaving with anger, her face flushed, but she didn’t dare to speak.

Because she sensed that the aura of the two individuals behind them was extremely deep, and she quickly realized their strength far surpassed hers.

Moreover, she didn’t want to cause unnecessary trouble for Rein and Anna.

However, apparently noticing that all three of Rein’s group were Official Wizards, the burly black-robed one said deeply:

”You all keep your useless talk to yourself!”

After being reprimanded, the three knights toned it down a little, though their eyes continued to unabashedly observe Melita.

As the group continued forward, a voice suddenly sounded from behind: ”Wait, you offended my friend, and you think you can leave without apologizing?”

It was Rein who spoke.

His face calm as he looked at the group of five.

”Oh?”

”Interesting.” Including the two in black robes, they all paused their steps, turning to face Rein.

Melita was taken aback, covering her mouth in surprise; she didn’t expect Rein to stand up for her and say such a thing, feeling both happy and worried at the same time.

”Oh? Offended?”

”Young man, do you think being an Official Wizard makes you formidable?”

”If your strength isn’t enough, it’s best not to stand out. I’ve killed no fewer than ten, if not twenty, Official Wizards. Now, do you still require our apology?”

The thinner black-robed one wore a vicious expression as he regarded Rein and spoke.
