Chapter 966: Chapter 342 Hammerfall Fortress (Two-in-One Chapter)_4

“When we return, I should take the time to learn more about the history of Hammerfall Fortress,” Rein muttered to himself.

This time, he had come somewhat hastily and had not thoroughly understood the dangerous places along the way.

“Rein, this seems to be the architectural style of the Ancient Dwarves,” Anna said.

“Ancient Dwarves?”

“Yes, I once read about ancient races in the Druid Circle, and there were similar patterns described,” Anna affirmed with a nod.

Rein nodded.

Elves have long lifespans, even ordinary elves live as long as human wizards, let alone high-grade elves. Their ancient texts are the most complete.

“I wonder if there will be a chance to visit them in the future. If I could see the elves’ collection of books, I would surely gain something.”

“Perhaps, I might find some rare Metal Series Witchcraft.” Rein mused to himself.

Rein was paving the way a few meters ahead, with Blood Feather and Anna behind.

Facing the attacking Molten Lava Snakes, Rein swiftly dispatched them as if he were cutting through vegetables.

Soon, the journey through the Hammerfall Tunnel had reached about one-third of the way.

At this point, the air grew hotter, and Rein’s path suddenly opened up, revealing numerous dark red glows scattered on the ground ahead.

Rein stepped forward a few more paces before realizing that ahead was a long stone bridge, and several hundred meters below the bridge were uneven stone structures, mostly abandoned, with the lower portions already submerged in magma.

It seemed to be a functionally complete city from the Ancient Times.

However, for some unknown reason, it was abandoned here.

“Anna, you’re right. This should originally be an Ancient Dwarven city.”

“Oh?”

At this moment, Rein raised his hand, signaling Anna to stop, and he carefully eyed a dark spot to the left of the bridge head.

“Roar!”

A menacing hound the size of a calf, burning with fierce flames, suddenly burst from the underground, charging towards Rein.

“Whoosh!”

Simultaneously, a fireball the size of a basin shot out from the creature’s gaping maw.

“Boom!”

A Demonized Silver Kite Shield suddenly appeared in front of Rein, blocking the fireball’s damage. Following this, a silver arc flashed.

“Squelch!”

A greatsword pierced into the hound’s head.

The beast twitched twice before collapsing limply to the ground.

“Huh, where did such a creature come from?” Rein looked at the slain lava beast with some confusion.

It was evidently not a Molten Lava Snake.

Moreover, in terms of power, it was much stronger than a Molten Lava Snake, possessing not only talent abilities, like breathing fireballs but also speed and strength.

…

Meanwhile, the witch Merita suddenly shouted, “Stop!”

“Did you hear that sound just now?”

“Hmm?” Chubby Yannis immediately signaled for the entire caravan to halt slowly.

“The sound just now seemed like….” Merita looked forward with a serious expression.

Immediately after, another beast-like roar echoed, and Merita turned her head to speak to several people behind her.

“Not good! That was the sound of a Molten Hound!”

“Molten Hound?”

“An elemental beast as powerful as an Official Wizard?” the two male wizards’ expressions changed as they spoke.

“Exactly!”

“Should we retreat now?” one of the male wizards asked somewhat anxiously.

“There’s no time! Molten Hounds are pack animals; if one appears, a whole group will soon follow! And that’s not even the worst of it…” Merita muttered to herself.

“What should we do then?” the other male wizard asked.

“There’s only one choice now, hurry, follow me!” Merita pointed ahead.

“Huh? Lady Merita, didn’t you just say not to get too close?” Chubby Yannis was a little puzzled.

“The situation has changed, hurry, tell the caravan to speed up.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Come on, everyone, pick up the pace!”

The coachmen all cracked their whips, driving the horses to pull the goods forward quickly.
