His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1789: Chapter 502: I Only Want to Walk Through Life With You (Part 2)

After breakfast, Zhang Hongyun drove to work, while Xi Meng and Qiao Yi drove together to the office. After getting out of the car, the three of them met.

”Sister Xi Meng, Brother Qiao!”

Zhang Hongyun nodded politely to them in greeting.

Xi Meng glanced at her and then nodded, ”Morning!”

”Morning!”

Zhang Hongyun still smiled.

Xi Meng walked ahead, planning to go directly from the underground parking lot to the rooftop.

Zhang Hongyun was originally walking beside her, but then Qiao Yi took a couple of quick steps to walk alongside her, ”In the future, I’ll need you to take good care of Sister Xi Meng, if there’s any work you can do for her, do try to help out.”

Qiao Yi said to Zhang Hongyun, rather politely.

”Oh? Sister Xi Meng, could it be that you’re already pregnant?”

Zhang Hongyun asked, a bit excited.

In the elevator, the three stood separately, and Qiao Yi chuckled, ”Not certain yet, but it’s quite likely she’ll be pregnant this month.”

”I’ll definitely help Sister Xi Meng, don’t worry!”

Zhang Hongyun promised him excitedly.

Qiao Yi nodded and then turned to look at Xi Meng, who didn’t even glance at him. Thoughts of his enjoyment the night before made her feel exhausted, as she had to abandon a pile of work to humor him.

Qiao Yi got out of the elevator first, and Zhang Hongyun and Xi Meng waited a bit longer. Once the elevator reached the top floor, Xi Meng exited first, with Zhang Hongyun just a step behind.

”I really envy Sister Xi Meng, she even has a second child now!”

”If you want to have kids, you can!”

Xi Meng walked to her desk, not interested in small talk.

Zhang Hongyun opened her mouth, unsure how to chat, but sensed that Xi Meng wasn’t in a good mood and decided not to take it to heart.

”I’ll also have a baby, for the man I like.”

Zhang Hongyun was thinking about the man she liked, and then she saw the elevator open not far away, and the man she liked appeared in her sight, as if he walked out of her dreams.

Xi Meng wanted to hear more, but Zhang Hongyun suddenly quieted, so Xi Meng raised her head to see Zhang Hongyun looking at Mu Yichen with a starstruck, admiring gaze. She couldn’t help but lower her head to look at her work.

After all, she was young, and although she always tried hard to act normal, so many things were written all over her face.

”Morning, President Mu!”

When Mu Yichen walked by, Zhang Hongyun greeted him lowly, not daring to lift her eyes.

But like usual, Mu Yichen didn’t respond, and like usual Zhang Hongyun only looked up to watch his back after he walked away.

Once a girl idolizes a man, she can’t help but have these little actions and feelings, and these things, which should be private, were all in Xi Meng’s view now.

Xi Meng was a calm person and wouldn’t discuss inappropriate topics with Zhang Hongyun, but she would timely remind her friends.

Zhang Hongyun didn’t care much about Mu Yichen not turning back, because in her heart, she thought Mu Yichen should be the type of man who keeps his eyes straight ahead. Whoever he looked at should feel like they’ve been bathed in the spring breeze and feel their heart flutter — it also proved his focus. Such a man was worthy of her admiration and silly pursuit.

Later, Zhang Hongyun went to the water dispenser to make fresh coffee for Mu Yichen. Xi Meng started working.

By the time Zhang Hongyun finished making the coffee and brought it out, Xi Meng was no longer at her place. She guessed Xi Meng had gone to report the work schedule to Mu Yichen. But looking at the coffee she held, its aroma was so alluring she couldn’t help but raise it a little to sniff and then walked determinedly toward Mu Yichen’s office.

Just as she was about to open the door, it opened from the inside.

Xi Meng stood at the door with a folder, seeing Zhang Hongyun’s happy look, noticing the nervous and shy expression in Zhang Hongyun’s eyes, and unconsciously sighed.

”President Mu’s coffee is ready!”

Zhang Hongyun said.

”Okay!”

Xi Meng answered softly and was about to leave.

”Secretary Xi, could you make me a cup of tea? You know better than anyone how I like it, right?”

Mu Yichen still had his head bent, writing something, his cold voice echoing from the office.

Xi Meng reflexively turned her head, then looked at the disheartened Zhang Hongyun, and nodded, ”Yes! I’ll go right away!”

”Is President Mu not having coffee today? I’ll go make tea!”

Even though Zhang Hongyun could still smell the aroma of coffee, since Mu Yichen didn’t want it, she had no choice but to throw away what she’d fondly prepared for him and go make him tea instead.

”No need, I’ll go myself!”

Knowing Mu Yichen’s intention, Xi Meng understood that Zhang Hongyun wasn’t needed for these petty tasks for Mu Yichen anymore.

”Well...”

”Please help me print twenty copies of the materials needed for the upcoming meeting.”

Xi Meng instructed her.

Zhang Hongyun looked at Xi Meng, with an expression that couldn’t hide her loss and sadness.

”What a lovely coffee aroma, if President Mu doesn’t want it, then I’ll take it! Thanks!”

Qiao Yi walked over from a distance, seeing the situation, teased as he approached, reaching directly to take Zhang Hongyun’s coffee, and walked into the office. Before closing the door, he said to the two of them, ”You should get going with your work, don’t just stand idly!”

It sounded like coaxing children, but Zhang Hongyun was still in a bad mood because when Qiao Yi closed the door, she caught a glimpse of Mu Yichen’s indifferent face through the crack, and she couldn’t help thinking, could it be that after Qin Mu came yesterday, she laid down a strict order, forbidding Mu Yichen from touching anything related to her?

Zhang Hongyun knew that some women were very controlling, not letting their husbands glance at other women and interrogating them thoroughly once home. Those men usually had no way out but to drive away the women around them.

Xi Meng went to make tea, Zhang Hongyun stayed behind the desk to print materials, but her mind was already in chaos, thinking all about Qin Mu, and imagining Mu Yichen being controlled by Qin Mu.

But soon after, she thought, since Qin Mu was so domineering, maybe, given time, she’d have her chance!

Based on her father’s experience, she believed that no man could tolerate long-term restrictions from a woman.

So perhaps, before long, she’d have a chance for a one-on-one interaction with Mu Yichen, be it professionally or privately.

When Xi Meng came back with the tea and saw Zhang Hongyun’s back, she moved her lips slightly and sighed gently, then walked to the CEO’s office with the tea.

Qiao Yi was discussing the development project with Mu Yichen and turned his head upon hearing a knock on the door, then saw Xi Meng entering.

”President Mu, your tea!”

Xi Meng walked over with the tea, placing it in front of Mu Yichen. Mu Yichen brought it to his face and mumbled an approval.

Qiao Yi still hadn’t finished the coffee in his hand and, curious about the tea on the table, asked Mu Yichen, ”What’s up? You usually love coffee in the morning, don’t you like it now?”

”I’ll head out first!”

Seeing them talking, Xi Meng thought about leaving to handle her tasks.

”Okay!”

Mu Yichen agreed, still not lifting his eyes, but he knew Xi Meng understood what he meant.

”Did Zhang Hongyun upset your wife?”

Qiao Yi remained curious.

Mu Yichen’s dark falcon-like eyes lifted, ”I prefer your wife’s coffee!”
