His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1779: Chapter 498: Mrs. Mu Makes a Surprise Inspection (Part 2)

Zhang Hongyun learned the temperature Mu Yichen likes for his coffee from Xi Meng and immediately delivered it after preparation, gently knocking on the door.

”Come in!”

Mu Yichen was already at work, with two documents placed on his desk by Xi Meng earlier in the morning.

”President Mu, your coffee!”

Zhang Hongyun carried the coffee over and then gently placed it on the table.

Mu Yichen didn’t lift his eyes, coldly, yet, focused on the documents at hand.

”President Mu, the coffee’s temperature is just right; it’s best to drink it soon! I’ll head out now!”

Zhang Hongyun didn’t give Mu Yichen a chance to scold her for being meddlesome and left right after speaking.

After she left, Mu Yichen turned his head to glance at her departing figure and then looked at the coffee beside him.

His hand lightly touched the cup; the temperature was indeed just right. However, in this office, he truly didn’t enjoy coffee made by anyone other than Xi Meng.

After leaving, Zhang Hongyun breathed a sigh of relief, unable to resist looking back at the closed door. She was afraid, afraid that Mu Yichen would refuse, so she would always leave immediately after completing her tasks.

In others’ eyes, she was capable and sensible, but only she knew that she simply didn’t want to leave a bad impression on the boss, only didn’t want the boss to be wary of her.

Zhang Hongyun walked over to Xi Meng’s desk: ”Secretary Xi, I’ll handle the small tasks of delivering tea and water for President Mu from now on, I’ll do a good job!”

In the midst of work, Xi Meng couldn’t help but look up at her with a serious expression tinged with coldness: ”Do you actually enjoy doing these?”

”Yes! To share your workload, isn’t that the reason for my job?”

Zhang Hongyun agreed cheerfully and asked Xi Meng.

Xi Meng lowered her eyes; whatever Zhang Hongyun was plotting, as long as she didn’t reveal it, Xi Meng could only speculate, but she felt that Qin Mu should know about such a person.

Xi Meng thought for a moment, then after Zhang Hongyun sat down, she took out a bottle of perfume from her drawer and after a few minutes of silence, suddenly picked up her phone to send a WeChat message to Qin Mu.

Xi Meng: ”Is the boss lady available today? Could you come by our office building?”

”Is there something up?”

Qin Mu, in the middle of drawing, still gripping her pencil, raised her head to send a message to Xi Meng, her neck stiff from drawing too long, causing her to tilt her neck while reading messages.

Xi Meng: ”There is a bit!”

Boss Lady: ”Having lunch together at AM, how does that sound?”

Xi Meng: ”It would be best if you could come to our office building!”

Xi Meng pondered, knowing Qin Mu wouldn’t take it seriously, and subtly reminded her.

Qin Mu felt a bit puzzled, but suddenly recalled Feng Fanghua’s advise about contacting Xi Meng more, and her head buzzed with the thought; was there something going on?

Boss Lady: ”Alright, I’ll head over soon!”

Xi Meng felt a bit relieved after reading her reply.

Zhang Hongyun heard Xi Meng’s phone ring several times, and couldn’t help but curiously watch her.

Xi Meng noticed Zhang Hongyun’s gaze fixed on her, then turned to stare straight back at Zhang Hongyun, who immediately flashed a silly smile: ”Secretary Xi and Assistant Qin seem to have such a good relationship! So close even after being married for so long!”

”It’s not him!”

Xi Meng responded softly, offering no further explanation, then gathered her work report and headed to find Mu Yichen.

After entering, Xi Meng noticed the coffee on Mu Yichen’s desk was untouched and asked: ”President Mu, is Xiaozhang’s coffee not to your liking?”

”No!”

Mu Yichen raised his eyes, glanced at her, then looked at the coffee cup before returning his focus to the documents.

”I have two bottles of perfume in my drawer; just spoke to Qin Mu about gifting her one.” Xi Meng thought for a moment, momentarily putting aside the coffee, offering a reminder to Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen, not understanding, raised his eyes at her again, thinking, does his wife lack perfume? Moreover, Xi Meng could simply ask him to bring it to Qin Mu.

”We agreed to meet here, she’ll be over soon!”

Xi Meng, holding the work report, had yet to bring up work matters.

Mu Yichen’s gaze flickered, then smiled faintly: ”Okay!”

Xi Meng guessed Mu Yichen understood her intentions, handed over the work report to him, and said: ”President Qiming’s Zhang has arranged lunch with you at LZ, it was scheduled yesterday afternoon!”

”Since Qin Mu is visiting, let’s reschedule for tomorrow noon!”

Mu Yichen, upon hearing, finally spoke another sentence to Xi Meng.
