Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1433: Chapter 120: Discovery (Part 2)

Not only that, but amidst the complex commands of the fleet’s high-speed navigation, he still managed to direct reconnaissance ships to investigate all potential hideouts for the Western Alliance Fleet along the route. Meanwhile, he constantly adapted the fleet to the surrounding environment, changing the defensive formations of the escort ships. His directives were so detailed it left people astounded.

If it weren’t for the current reorganization of intelligence data and comparison with the commands issued by Fatty, no one would believe he could make such precise judgments and timely responses from such chaotic data.

He gave the impression of a monster who could look at a screen filled with waterfall-like flowing code and recreate it in his mind as a grand war epic. Not only did he transform the dense code into images, but he also perceived details more intricately than those watching slow-motion footage, down to the splashes of mud kicked up by galloping hooves.

This powerful ability to interpret intelligence is what every genius commander dreams of. It means he can react faster than his opponents, have more time to think, make fewer mistakes, and enable the fleet to respond more quickly with precise tactical maneuvers.

Aside from Hastings, Tony and others had never seen such capability in anyone else. Describing Fatty as a monster was indeed accurate.

At the moment, the most silent among the four was not the usually taciturn Garfield, but Isaac.

A genius since childhood, leading even in the genius-filled Hastings system, he had never imagined anyone could reach such a level in intelligence interpretation. Moreover, Fatty demonstrated not only intelligence interpretation but also made the right decisions in an instant, meaning he was conducting simulations and calculations while interpreting data.

As Fatty casually issued commands, Isaac stood by watching. Now recalling it, he even felt as if this journey had already happened before, and Fatty had traveled back through time to show such performance.

Having such thoughts was already a blow to him.

He stared blankly at the tactical computer screen, feeling as if waves were crashing inside him, entirely oblivious to what Tony and Diana were saying beside him.

”Alright,” Diana reluctantly said, ”I have to admit, I underestimated this guy. However, that doesn’t mean he has enough experience to lead a fleet to win a battle. On the battlefield, the enemy is not like a meteor shower or gravitational reefs. Lacking enough military talent and intelligence, insufficient experience, or character flaws could doom the entire fleet.”

As she spoke, Diana stood up,

”His skills have earned my recognition. Like a quarterback in rugby, he has enough speed, strength, and basic skills. However, to win the game, he needs to at least demonstrate his experience and wisdom. If he can’t throw a decisive pass, control the game’s rhythm, or even understand the rules, then, even if he’s Superman, he’s a useless Superman.”

Diana opened the automatic door of the Tactical Discussion Room, glanced faintly at the gathered staff outside, and without looking back, said to Tony, ”We should head to the conference room. I think now our Superman Commander has either found the Western Alliance Fleet, or at least made a decision instead of blindly moving forward until crashing into them.”

——————————————

When Tony, Diana, and others entered the conference room, it was quiet inside.

The ship captains, upon seeing their superiors, all stood up and saluted.

Some speculated that Tony had been imprisoned for his disobedience, felt awkward when they caught Fatty’s inadvertent glance. They’re puzzled, wondering how it seemed this Bandit Army Admiral heard them when they spoke so softly. Was his hearing that good?

Unaware, the Bandit Army’s General Tian had always judged others by the evil in their heart. Even if they didn’t speculate that way, the glance General Tian cast was equally strange — those bastards must have badmouthed me just now!

”What’s the situation?” Tony saluted Fatty before sitting down and quietly asked his chief of staff, Wei Jin.

”No news yet,” Wei Jin softly explained the situation just now in the conference room, concluding, ”The captains believe that if we don’t catch sight of the Western Alliance Fleet before completing the 5th leg, we should halt forward movement.”

”Who said that?” Tony asked blandly.

”Everyone said so.” Perhaps sensing Tony’s tone was off, Wei Jin awkwardly replied, swiftly using his eyes to stop a few captains stepping forward.

”Impressive,” Tony’s face turned cold, ”Draft a list for me, I’ll promote them all.”

Even a fool would know Tony’s words were sarcastic, especially these subordinates who had followed him for years and knew him well. For a moment, the officers of the Phantom Fleet were silent, wondering why Tony, having just been pushed aside, was now so firmly standing with Fatty, particularly at such a crucial moment.

Could it be he had confidence in Fatty, or knew something?

”Beep, beep,” the navigation recorder emitted a few crisp electronic prompts, the ship trembled as the final segment of low-speed traversal ended, at which lay the start point of the 5th leg, also the last obstacle zone in the Cigar Nebula.

The captains who’d been whispering, together with bandit army generals and staff analyzing over the interstellar map, all lifted their heads. All eyes now focused on Fatty.

Even the attending Ann Lei, Helen, and Margaret couldn’t help but show a hint of worry in their eyes.

Fatty sat in the chair, eyes observing, mind clear, revealing no emotion, calm and tranquil like a statue of Buddha.

The fleet was aligning formations according to the navigation plan, conducting routine ship counts, equipment checks, and outer defense detection, preparing to enter the 5th leg obstacle zone. Time ticked away and seeing the fleet completed preparations and gradually started accelerating, everyone was anxious, unable to sit still.

Proceed further?

Suddenly, the green light of the communication device blinked, and an exclamation from a staff officer rang out abruptly.

”Western Alliance Fleet spotted!”

This voice, like a gale, dispelled the dark clouds in the sky. The conference room immediately buzzed with excitement. Officers leaped from their seats, swarming towards the SkyNet terminal on one side of the conference room.

The signals originated from the bandit army reconnaissance ships Little Thief No. 2 and Little Thief No. 3.

In the spot designated by Fatty, they finally caught the tail of the Western Alliance Fleet. On the screen, the poised Western Alliance Fleet resembled a wolf pack lurking in the dark, only the sporadic ion trails from the steering propulsion revealing their presence.

The 6th leg starting position, within the shadow position of the Bull Tail System 3rd Planet’s satellite, they were located. My God, it was a bow already drawn, the Western Alliance Fleet ready to launch an attack via forced short-range traversal! Without defenses, it would be deadly! The three planets perfectly aligned granted the Western Alliance Fleet an ideal ambush point!

Everyone cast their shocked and admiring gaze on the unshaken Fatty. Holding the jewels of wisdom, it did not surpass this. As everyone felt uneasy, General Tian’s sharp gaze had already pierced through this eternal night!

The Western Alliance Fleet was nowhere to hide!

Fatty faintly smiled, his eyes glistening with the light of wisdom, calmly gazing at the navigation map, his brow serene as if everything was under control.

A bunch of fools, if I couldn’t find the Western Alliance Fleet, wouldn’t I have ordered a halt to forward movement?

You really think I’m dumb?!
