Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1431: Chapter 119: Search Patrol_2

Under the simultaneous broadside of the opponent’s battleship cluster and the encircling and cutting maneuver of the Destroyer Group, by the time all the preparations are completed, the battle might already be over. Although the Phantom Corps are elite among elites with undeniable combat power, this can only ensure that they react faster and fight stronger than other units in battle but cannot guarantee their complete safety in a deliberate attack.

Moreover, although the Phantom Corps has nominally become a part of the bandit army, everyone has only been acquainted with this unit for just over thirty hours. Not to mention rapport, even basic trust hasn’t been established yet. It’s imaginable how the officers and soldiers of the Phantom Corps would feel when a group of strangers suddenly took over the entire fleet’s command and led the fleet into an uneasy situation.

The gaze from the officers of the Phantom Corps bore into their backs like thorns, making even the seasoned pillars of Leray Space Navy, Fei Ouwen and Chel, a bit restless.

The bandit army officers were nervously contemplating and discussing, while the senior officers of the Phantom Corps were gradually showing signs of unrest.

”What are these guys planning? They know there are enemy fleets blocking the route, yet they still insist on barging through, joking with everyone’s lives? I can’t figure it out, General Tony was nurtured by the old man himself, how after all these teachings, could he leave us to be commanded by an Army Vice Admiral, ignoring General Tony.”

”I’ve been a ship captain for so many years, and the only one I ever acknowledged was General Tony. If these guys can’t come up with a plan and insist on forging ahead, I’ll turn around 180 degrees! Let them play by themselves!”

”I’ll turn around too! To speak disrespectfully, the old man is confused! Changing generals before battle is a big taboo. Under General Tony’s command for so many years, we know each other inside out. I never questioned Tony’s orders, and never had to worry when exchanging backs with the brothers here. Now with a sudden change in command in just tens of hours, soldiers don’t know the generals, and generals don’t know the soldiers, this battle is unfeasible!”

”It’s not just soldiers not knowing generals and vice versa, we don’t even know where the enemy is! This is neither knowing oneself nor the enemy. If we can win like this, I’ll run naked around my Destroyer!”

”Hey, Thomas, I heard your staff department is also quite frustrated?”

”Don’t mention it. Now we’re hardly a staff department! Just a bunch of errands! All processes scrapped, no need to handle any information, data, intelligence, just sort and send it straight to the command computer! We small fries are fine, but those in the senior staff department are really frustrated, they’ve all become liaison officers, each responsible for two warships. It’s divided very finely, like a deft hand, but who knows if that head has the skill!”

”Hey, so it’s true. My ship’s liaison officer told me Colonel Andre personally handles the contacts, I didn’t believe it. Never seen a senior staff member used as a liaison officer.”

”Andre used to be so diligent in simulation exercises. Now it’s all wasted. Just watch, even if we luck through this hurdle, we’ll be worn out by these militia sooner or later.”

”Where’s Chief Tony? He hasn’t been seen. Damn it, they must have detained him worried he’d disobey orders. Look, Isaac, Garfield, and Diana are all not present. I say, why don’t we outright stir things up, at least we can’t keep moving forward!”

”Soldiers’ duty is to obey orders, since the Marshal has ordered, we can do nothing but comply. Regardless, let’s wait and see for a bit. General Tian’s merits and achievements are illustrious, the Longbow Star System, and the Hanfrey Fleet have all succumbed to him, he shouldn’t be too shallow.”

Within the meeting room, an undercurrent surged silently.

Regarding all this, Fatty completely ignored.

Being unfamiliar with this army is a fact, temporarily changing the operation mode of the staff department is also a fact, but these are not problems.

The current Leifeng Star battle situation is at a delicate moment. If the Western Alliance can be trapped on the west line of Phoenix City, the Resk Battle could possibly be concluded in a short time. If they break through the line, the entire Leifeng Star battle situation will quickly deteriorate, and no one knows how many troops, how much time, and how many sacrifices will need to be made to restore it.

This, Hastings understands, I understand, Sobel understands, Mikami Yuto also understands!

Sobel sent the Judger Force to Resk to gift Mikami Yuto a sharp dagger, to tear the Fei Alliance’s defenses, and expand the entire battle situation.

And I came to Leifeng Star to block the opponent west of Phoenix City. Preparing for the future decisive battle!

Leray can’t hold for long, every minute delayed here at the Newton Star System Jump Point, there will be more wreckage. Since embarking on this path, all I can do is advance without hesitation. Sprint with all one’s might. No matter how dangerous, arduous, or bleak, strive for even a glimmer of hope.

This fleet, although just reassigned under the bandit army, ever since I boarded, it’s clear that these soldiers have also undergone rigorous training. They have discipline engraved in their bones and view Hastings’ orders as decrees. Regardless of how much they clamor, as long as Margaret stands by my side, they can’t act out of line.

With these, it’s enough! Break through, and figure out how to integrate this unit in the future!

Now the question is, where exactly is that damned Western Alliance fleet hiding?

Fatty’s gaze scoured the interstellar map. Every environmental marker, every coordinate on the interstellar map, along with all the textual data beside them, flowed into his mind seamlessly, forming a crystal-clear universe in his mind.

It can’t be the Bull Tail system, it’s the closest and reconnaissance ships have already investigated, finding nothing suspicious.

Nor would it be Area 81, the three voids investigated by reconnaissance ships have been confirmed safe. Leaving these three voids, the opponent has no way of attacking when our fleet enters transition.

Red River Beach Barrier Zone? Too congested, only suitable for small unit raids. Besides, the enemy’s forces exceed ours, they surely wouldn’t wish to waste manpower due to terrain.

Proxima System’s L5 Resource Planet? From the terrain, it’s indeed quite suitable. Yet, it’s too close to the Leifeng Star. If absolute control over the Leifeng Star Domain cannot be ensured, setting an ambush there may encounter Qian Bolin Fleet’s assault. Once caught between pincers, the ambush might fail, leading to total annihilation instead.

Where could it be?

Fatty’s gaze wandered back and forth along the route, finally landing on the Bull Tail system which was initially dismissed.

A thought flashed in his mind, he turned and said to Carl, ”Order the bandit army 7th Fleet’s first fleet to detach from the main formation, advance covertly, and order Little Thief No.2 and No.3 to immediately conduct thorough reconnaissance of the Bull Tail system.”

”Yes!” Carl obeyed, striding away.

Isn’t the bandit army 71st Fleet just the B-grade bandit fleet consisting of ten battleships and forty other ships that could be classed as either cruisers or destroyers, tailing right behind us?

The officers of the Phantom Corps stared blankly out the window.

With the issuance of the order, dozens of ragged warships, with a ludicrous ramming beak at their prows, sped past from behind like a group of beggars, chaotically passing by the majestic Feiyang Battleship, heading off into the distance.

Even the most advanced reconnaissance ships couldn’t locate the opponent, sending two shabby little boats would find them?

Even if found, what role could these rickety ships play at the forefront?

This Fatty commander, is he attempting to buy time for the main force using these wrecks, or is he seeking an excuse for his own loyalists to slip away first? Who the hell knows if these ships will make a turn once they reach the front.

In the meeting room, the ship captains of the Phantom Corps exchanged uncertain glances.
