Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 1412: Chapter 111: Focus_3

Frontline battle reports came flying back like snowflakes. Each report carried the intense scent of smoke and blood.

The Alliance forces, in their struggle with the Western Alliance army over Canglang Star and Leifeng Star, had reached a fever pitch. As mass reinforcements from the Western Alliance arrived, the frontline situation grew increasingly tense. Every combat zone, every battle line, resounded with hoarse cries for reinforcements. The casualty figures were nearing astronomical levels. In several areas, forces were forced to retreat due to insufficient manpower.

The Resk Battle had silently entered a state of stalemate. This was truly a meat grinder battlefield. Despite knowing the ferocity, troops had to continually be sent in. The goal was to eventually overwhelm Suss Jiepeng, to one day seize an overwhelming advantage. If this phase of the campaign could not be won, if we could not endure through this period, once the main forces of the Fei Alliance were annihilated, the war situation would quickly deteriorate beyond repair.

Heavy troops were gathering in Hanjing, and forces were also being assembled in other star systems. By now, the Alliance possessed at least thirty Grade A fleets, eighty armored divisions, and over two hundred mechanical infantry. Yet, this was still far from sufficient.

In a critical life-and-death battle, if more forces could not be gathered in the short term, the Fei Alliance would be unable to withstand the overwhelming offensive from the Western Alliance. It would not be able to win the Resk Battle. However, it was no easy task to mobilize more troops. The human, material, and transport resources required were astronomical figures.

Amidst the busyness, officers and soldiers from various nations within the enormous base would cast their gaze towards the southeast direction of the base.

There, was the base of the bandit army.

The list of units for the third wave of reinforcements had long been released. The bandit army was not included.

No one understood why, despite the dire war situation, the Alliance Command Center had no intention of deploying this army, burdened with all sorts of mysterious legends, into the Resk Battle.

Wasn’t their purpose in coming here precisely for this battle?

Only a few high-level officers were familiar with this unit. Most soldiers had no direct understanding of this army. They had heard of the renowned 31st Army being beaten half to death by the bandit army and knew that this unit possessed countless Advanced Mecha Warriors, some of whom were even considered War Gods. However, all this was ultimately hearsay and gossip.

If the 31st Army had not been disarmed, if it were on a battlefield with real weapons, could these civilian Mech Knights, who relied mainly on close-quarters combat, actually be so formidable?

War is not a brawl among a group of mecha rogues. Modern warfare demands very high military competence. If a group of individuals with no understanding of warfare were to enter the battlefield, even if they were all War Gods, facing well-trained enemy tactics, electronic interference, overwhelming conductors, and various disturbances, forays, penetrations, and divisions, the most likely outcome would be helplessness.

This expectation for the bandit army to shine on the battlefield combined with a deep skepticism created an intense focus due to a series of related factors. This included numerous debates about the bandit army in the Fei Alliance Council and public concern over the Southeast War Situation, idols like Leefer, dissatisfaction with Hastings, and so on. This brought everyone in the base to a fever pitch of attention on the bandit army.

And on December 31, the last day of 2063, with the arrival of an unknown Group Fleet and troops from Gazalin joining the bandit army, this focus became the focal point under a magnifying glass in the sunlight.
