Counterfeit Hero

During this period of open and covert struggles, Margaret has gained a profound understanding of Fatty’s shamelessness.

This is the first opponent who can infuriate her, the first opponent she cannot outwit, and the first opponent who does not care about her status.

However, the frustration of repeated failures did not depress Margaret; instead, her interest in Fatty grew stronger, and her determination increased.

From the age of five, Margaret understood that her identity meant she would be shrouded in the aura of her grandfather Hastings. She wasn’t a fanatic desperate to prove herself, nor was she pretending to be decadent and gloomy, irresponsibly rebellious about her life. She did not consider the aura of a generation of the Military God a burden. That was her grandfather, the source of her bloodline, the glory of her genes.

However, when she won her first independently commanded battle at the age of eighteen, she began looking for stronger opponents.

Because she realized that whether it was the political enemies of the Hastings family or other young genius commanders who were destined to become her rivals or life-and-death foes, even the oblivious playboys could only display thirty percent of their strength under that halo. Everyone’s life is different, and the enemies they get to choose are also different. These people should not be her opponents; her opponent is... Sobel!

When her grandfather gradually grew old and the war swept across the human world, facing Sobel became her destiny!

Being nurtured by a generation of the Military God for twenty-three years, in ordinary people’s eyes, is a stroke of luck, but for Margaret, it is a heavy responsibility, an unavoidable fate.

The war between the Fei Alliance and the Western Alliance is essentially the war between the Feiyang Republic and the Binart Empire.

Margaret still remembers the night Leray Federation was invaded by Gazalin Empire when her grandfather Hastings called her into the study and spoke those words. The deep conversation that night remains unknown to anyone. People only know that from that day on, Margaret, who had always been by Hastings’ side, joined the army to become an officer like everyone else.

Thirty years ago, a generation of the Military God defeated the Binart Empire in one battle, catapulting Feiyang to the throne of the first superpower. These thirty years were humiliating for the Binart Empire, and during those years of war, Sobel, then only a middle school student, endured thirty years burdened by humiliation and heavy responsibility. His brilliance did not burst into the public scene. The path he took turned out to be a Great General List route, one step at a time, away from public view!

In the intelligence gathered by Feiyang later, they finally discovered that Sobel started as a platoon leader and personally participated in all of the Binart Empire’s regional conflict battles. He was even an excellent Reconnaissance Soldier! He once bare-handedly killed the most famous fighter among the Daman Star rebels! That was absolutely not a show; it was the path of growth for a genius.

From platoon leader to platoon leader, from platoon leader to the squad leader of the Royal Guard, then to division commander, to Military Department chief of staff, to Admiral, and to Supreme Commander in charge of the entire Binart Empire. He spent thirty years planning this war to sweep mankind, to take revenge on the Hastings family. He did it. Fortune’s goddess stood behind him this time. The contradictions and conflicts of the human world finally erupted when he was at his most capable. And when the war began, Hastings was already old. He had plenty of time and enough ways to win this war.

This is not the same localized war between two countries from thirty years ago; this is a cosmic war that can send all of humanity into hell! Through this war, he could reclaim tenfold and hundredfold the glory the Sobel family once lost. He is a tiger famished for thirty years, a snake coiled for thirty years, a fox sniffing for thirty years, and a vulture soaring for thirty years!

Margaret possesses extraordinary military talent, something Hastings doesn’t doubt, nor does she. A generation of Military God has imparted all his knowledge over more than twenty years, enough to cultivate any ordinary soldier into a Great General. However, this does not mean that Margaret with her extraordinary talent can match Sobel. Some things cannot be learned or mastered just through teaching. They require time to experience, to be watered with blood and sweat.

Failure is never the mother of success, but honing is the road to growth.

Margaret lacks honing, lacks experience, lacks certain insights that only personal experience can bring. More importantly, she lacks an opponent or... a partner with enough ability and wisdom to become her whetstone!

In Feiyang, she hasn’t found such a person. Some people are restricted by their ability, while others are by their identity. Leefer, Qian Bolin, Fiscella, Douglas, they are all Great Generals listed on the Great General List, but the positions they hold, their experiences decide their foresight, their vision, and their style. More importantly, they are all students of Hastings!

In other allied countries, she hasn’t found such a person either. The entire Fei Alliance is supported by Feiyang, and Feiyang is supported by Hastings.
