Counterfeit Hero

After filling out the form and signing his name, Anmon was sent to the secret experimental base.

The base, located deep within the rugged mountains on the southern outskirts of Sedon, the capital of the Binart Empire, is vast, extending several hundred meters underground. It can’t be found on the list of military bases in the Binart Empire. Even within the Military Department and Royal Family, only a few people know of its existence. This is also the cradle of the Judgement Legion.

The Binart Empire’s experiments on human modification have been conducted secretly for many years. Now, it was time to see results. Although not yet perfect, given the current war situation, developing combat effectiveness one day earlier would give the Fei Alliance a greater advantage. Therefore, the base operated almost non-stop, day and night.

Here, Anmon saw countless mecha knights from different places, with different accents, being sent in. Like him, they had all lost their control abilities and were undergoing modification experiments here.

The modification carried significant risks. It wasn’t until the modification was completed that Anmon realized he had done a round trip in the gate of hell while lying on the surgical bed. A selection rate of one in a hundred thousand and an elimination rate of as high as seventy-five percent meant that without sufficient luck, he would have ended up as a cold and incomplete corpse in the morgue, just like countless other test subjects!

Only a few managed to pass through the gate of hell. Without exception, they all became monsters with metallic skulls.

In Anmon’s view, this metallic skull is the greatest masterpiece in human history. It combines the human brain with mechanical electronics. All commands from the brain are translated into special signals and connected to the Mechanical Computer via a microcomputer in the metallic skull. All actions of the Mecha are directly commanded by the brain!

The damage caused by previous brain control command systems has been eliminated because of the change in the brain. In some sense, this metallic skull is a biological computer.

When Anmon first sat on the Mechanical Control Trainer for testing, he found out that he had passed, not the gate of hell, but the dragon gate! The speed of thirty-five actions was no longer anything worth bragging about. What he needed to do now was learn to control his body like a child—The Mecha, weighing tens of tons, had become a part of his body!

From the initial discomfort, to gradually being able to control it, and then a lightning-fast improvement, two weeks later, by the old hand speed control standards, Anmon’s maneuvers with the Mecha already surpassed those achievable at seventy actions per second! He still remembers the moment he looked at the data on the simulation training machine, feeling nearly insane with joy!

Strength had returned to him once again. His life finally left that small town, the muddy farm, the stinking ranch, that cold and rundown small town, and those lifeless people.

Aside from having a metallic skull, Anmon didn’t feel he was any different from others.

When he donned a hat that covered the metal part on his head thoroughly and wore a high-collared black uniform with white edges, enjoying the privileges as a soldier of the newly formed Judgement Legion, and the obedience and respect of officers with higher ranks than him, he felt that appearance was insignificant compared to the power he had gained.

Coming to Mars is part of the ultimate test for the Judgement Legion.

As one of the earliest successful transformed mecha knights, Anmon’s task was to complete various tests as an experimental subject in combat. Transformed Mecha are not gods; as technological products, they inevitably have weaknesses. These need to be discovered in combat, and actual combat effectiveness also needs to be evaluated in fights. The Five Great Free Ports, hailed as the sacred ground of Mecha Fighting, are the best places for testing.

Anmon’s original task was to come here and, under the arrangements of the Tai Sect, challenge the commanders, the War Gods, one by one. However, while he was still traveling through the starry sky, the entire situation on Mars underwent drastic changes. The entry of the Feiyang people completely disrupted Anmon’s plans.

After receiving the legion’s new orders, Anmon felt no trace of nervousness or fear.

The order to eliminate the leadership of the Fei Alliance Mars Front Army and coordinate with the Suss Fleet’s offensive actions was exciting for Anmon. It meant that following a successful operation, he would achieve not only test results but also military merit!

He didn’t regard those so-called civilian mecha knights as worthy opponents... Defeating Nakagawa Daiki took him only two or three minutes. Originally, with such a great opportunity for a match, he wanted to conduct some tests and enjoy the thrill of playing with Mars’ top experts. However, unexpectedly, several top experts on the list were annihilated by some unknown mecha knights, and one of the target figures, the Feiyang Female Major General, was even preparing to leave the scene early because of it!

He had no choice but to launch the attack in advance.

Now, concealed beneath the Lightning Lifting shell, the first-generation Judgement rose into the air, stepping on the destroyed Feiyang military mecha, approaching Box No. 1!

The purple figure drew a phantom in the air, the hard and heavy iron fist of the Mecha, with an overwhelming momentum like Mount Tai, headed straight for the box’s terrace.
