Counterfeit Hero

”You guys are ruthless! Is this how Feiyang does everything?”

Fatty blew away the piece of paper hanging over his forehead, revealing a pair of dead fish eyes, glaring at Margaret.

”You asked for it!” Margaret’s clean, fair face was full of entitlement as she rolled her eyes at Fatty and said, ”Who told you to go against us?”

As she spoke, she glanced at the matchup table and said leisurely, ”You sent these people out, surely it won’t come as a surprise they end up facing War God, right? Even if they don’t meet in the top sixteen, they will certainly encounter him in the top eight or four, won’t they?”

”That’s true...” Fatty suddenly realized, the piece of paper on his forehead fluttering wildly as he threw out a handful of cards and taunted Hagrove across from him: ”Bomb! I win!”

”Can they win?” Margaret turned her head, quietly watching the four Green Mechas enter the fighting arena. After a while, she nudged Fatty with her elbow: ”What exactly are you planning?”

”You seem to care about us a lot, huh?” Fatty looked surprised and wary.

”They’re all handsome guys...” Margaret’s clear eyes were full of melancholy and worry, her long eyelashes drooping slightly and trembling: ”If anything happens to them, it would break my heart to watch.”

”Really?!” Fatty shaded his eyes with his hand, looked towards the fighting arena: ”Which one do you fancy?”

”If I want one, would you give it to me?!” Margaret’s eyes sparkled.

”What good would it do you...” Fatty shuffled the cards: ”Honestly, could you help and see which one in our bandit army might appeal to Carolina?”

Margaret bit her lip: ”What are you trying to do?”

Fatty grumbled: ”We can’t go on like this. If worse comes to worst, our bandit army will have to make a noble sacrifice. I refuse to believe that great love can’t conquer arrogance and prejudice.”

”You have the leisure to play cards and joke around...” Margaret said with a teasing smile: ”You don’t seem anxious at all.”

”What’s there to be anxious about...” The deck of cards in Fatty’s hands quickly spun and changed: ”We’ll see who’s anxious when the time comes!”

”I wasn’t talking about the tournament.” Margaret’s smile slowly faded. Her slender white fingers played with a yogurt straw, her delicate eyebrows raised, she looked at Fatty with a mixture of curiosity and meaningfulness in her narrow, long phoenix eyes.

The playing cards in Fatty’s hand rotated from a circular fan back to a pile, slowly placed on the table, and he looked up. In front of him, Margaret had a faint smile on her lips. Her tone, commanding and lightly arrogant, naturally revealed no hint of the little girl fascinated with Mechas she once seemed to be. The change in her aura, all in a matter of a sentence.

The straw in her hand twirled deftly between her thumb, forefinger, and middle finger. Once you knew her identity, you’d realize it wasn’t just a straw spinning, but the Mars battlefield!

Witch... that description in the intel was quite accurate.

Fatty kept smiling, a simple, honest smile, as he said leisurely: ”...I wasn’t talking about the tournament either.”

”What are you planning to do?” Margaret’s clear, watery eyes glanced at Fatty and said blandly: ”You, and your bandit army.”

”The question is, what do you need us to do?” Fatty’s hand circled his stomach leisurely, his tone flat yet thundering in its silence: ”You... and your grandfather.”

The atmosphere froze suddenly.

Margaret’s fingers paused slightly in their twirling of the straw. Her gaze locked onto Fatty’s face. In front of her, this honest-smiling Fatty was patting his stomach, his expression joyful and lively.

”I don’t believe the bandit army will stand idly by.” Margaret suppressed the shock in her heart, continuing the previous topic as if she hadn’t heard Fatty’s last remarks.

”I believe...” Fatty scratched his stomach: ”Marshal Hastings has long had a plan for everything in this war zone. If he doesn’t move, I won’t move. If he does, I’ll cooperate.”

”Don’t you think you’re just parrotting me all the time?” The conversation had become so clear that Margaret finally lost patience. This Fatty, knowing her identity, did surprise her.

”I just like conversations like this.” Fatty said, indulgingly: ”Back and forth, like kissing.”

Margaret glared at Fatty, then suddenly burst into laughter, exuding charm. She gently pushed Fatty, playfully saying, ”Darn Fatty, you’ve been investigating me. That’s not okay, quickly, tell me what you’re planning!”

Hagrove and the others beside him already had their mouths wide open.

They had lived for more than forty years, and in this survival-of-the-fittest jungle of Mars, they had seen many manipulative people. But to see such young, shrewd individuals like the man and woman in front of them, it was a first.

Ignoring a freak like Fatty, this girl named Margaret was no less bandit-like than Fatty. As for changing faces, she was even quicker. Plus, with her natural allure, any man would be led by her hot and cold demeanor until his bones went soft. Wouldn’t he spill everything without even a question?

Yet employing such tactics on someone as blunt as Fatty was like winking at a blind man.

”Enough with this act!” Though Fatty felt his heart racing, Margaret was indeed a formidable woman, every gesture was incredibly impactful. Yet soft jade and sweet fragrance leaning beside him, he couldn’t let himself lose this round. He straightened his face and sternly declared, ”Keep flirting with me, don’t blame me for being rough with the flowers and hitting the vixen!”

”Pfft...” Margaret’s face flushed, she gently pushed Fatty and uttered with a teasing glance, ”.....You’re the vixen.”

”Doing it on purpose, huh?” Fatty rolled up his sleeves, eyes roving over Margaret’s posterior with ill intent.

”You’re ruthless!” Margaret pulled her hair tie, letting her light golden hair cascade like waves. She angrily bit the hair tie, rolling her eyes at Fatty and grudgingly redoing her hair. She knew, no matter how skilled she was, she couldn’t win against this Fatty who plays by no rules. In front of hundreds of thousands, he would absolutely spank her!

”How did you know we had other plans?”

While tying her hair, countless thoughts raced through Margaret’s mind, yet she decided to be direct, knowing if she played games with this Fatty, he could play forever.

”I’ve studied Marshal Hastings’ methods.......” Fatty picked up the cards from the table, and with a flip of his hand, two Jokers miraculously appeared: ”Plus, I’ve personally experienced it.”

”You mean back in the Little Pyrenees Star System battle?” Margaret remained expressionless. A few War Gods beside them were dumbfounded. If Fatty had such card skills, why did he still plaster so many notes on his own face? This freak’s mind indeed couldn’t be fathomed by ordinary people. If he felt like it, he’d do anything.

Did he really think his drool was cosmetic?

”It seems like you know me quite well too.” Fatty looked mischievously at Margaret, curling his lips: ”Back then in the Mezrich Planet battle, we covered for the fleet led by Fiscella. And all actions by Fiscella in Little Pyrenees were to cover Marshal Hastings’ reclaiming of the Galileo Star System. It’s all interconnected. Such examples are plenty, and how the grassroots battles went or the losses incurred, I think Marshal Hastings hardly cared. His battle plans must contain a hidden core interest. As long as this interest is secured, nothing else matters, failure included.”

”So, you believe he has a similar plan on the main route?” Margaret looked at the Jokers on the table, sighing inwardly. She finally understood why her grandfather took notice of this Leray fatty.

”Just a guess......” Fatty smiled and said: ”However, after knowing your identity, my confidence rose from thirty percent to seventy. Margaret, Marshal Hastings’ granddaughter, grew up in the Fei Alliance Army, attended high-level military meetings at fifteen, independently commanded the Fei Alliance in northern Kensers Star Domain conflicts at eighteen, hailed as the successor to the War God, suddenly becoming an adjutant here, clearly isn’t here for a vacation.”

”How did you know my identity?” Margaret was a bit baffled.

”Do you take me for a pig?” Fatty glared: ”You moved next door for no reason, flirted with me all the time, opposed me on the training ground, posing and preening, intentionally drawing my attention. Doesn’t look like an adjutant at all! Besides, if you were a real adjutant, would you dare agree to help release Klaus so casually?! If I didn’t investigate you, who would I investigate?!”

”Fatty, I seduced you?!” Even with Margaret’s strong mental fortitude, Fatty managed to infuriate her.

”See, you admitted it yourself!” Fatty grinned, his words cutting deep.

”Fine then!” Margaret gritted her teeth: ”Seems like there’s no collaboration possible between us!”

”No collaboration, so what! Big deal!” Fatty was full of disdain: ”Anyway, our bandit army is small and weak, if we’re attacked, we’ll just slip into the Free Passage, who can stop me? Besides, we have no interest in the Saleria Longbow Star Domain!”

”Longbow Star Domain!”

Fatty’s words sent chills down everyone’s spine. The War Gods looked at each other in utter shock. Even a fool knew what those words meant.

Turning to Margaret, they saw that the furious Feiyang Colonel had already changed her expression.

”Beep”, ”Beep”.....Countdown electronic sounds echoed from the fighting arena.

One after another, speeding up.
