Counterfeit Hero

Parkinson had already turned into a pulp, impossible to piece back together.

This aggressive Second-level Mecha Commander was overturned and killed by the opponent in an instant.

How did he lose? How did the Second-level Mecha Knight, who was three full levels below him, win? The entire venue fell into silence, everyone’s mind spinning in dizziness.

The brutal killing that lasted tens of seconds, and the subsequent minutes-long rampage, swept past their eyes like a movie. The sudden fall of the golden mecha, the violent kick that shattered the cockpit, the mecha tossed in the air like a ragdoll; these images spun round and round in their minds.

Many spectators were still lost in those bloody scenes. Those aware of the inside story had quietly clenched their fists—Baz’s great revenge was achieved, and to the once arrogant Feiyang people, it was a loud slap across their faces!

A carefully arranged duel turned into a stage for the opponent’s rampant demonstration, a Second-level Mecha Commander was beaten to death by a Second-level Mecha Soldier! Could anything be more disgraceful than this?!

”Bravo!” A loud cheer erupted from box number one in the dead silence.

Zhang Pengcheng stood confidently on the arc-shaped viewing gallery, clapping and cheering. Subsequently, the Chuckna officers also burst into applause and whistles. Under their influence, an overwhelming cheer and applause swept through the entire arena. Tens of thousands of spectators gathered, as cheers filled the air like a tidal wave.

Amidst the cheers, Carolina bit her silver teeth tightly, and the faces of the Feiyang officers turned ashen. Cheng Zhixuan, sitting in box number two, and the Absolute Kill Sect Master Kirburn in box number fifteen, almost had fire shooting from their eyes. Everyone’s face turned red, burning with discomfort.

”What are you waiting for?!” Cheng Zhixuan gritted his teeth and grabbed the communicator: ”Continue!”

After speaking, Cheng Zhixuan dared not face Carolina’s gaze from the neighboring box; he turned around, left the box, and headed straight for the control room.

To trip up the bandit army, he and Kubo, along with Kirburn, painstakingly arranged this matchup list. But who knew, that Parkinson, being a Second-level Mecha Commander, would lose his life facing a Second-level Mecha Soldier. It seems the later matchups would need adjustments. Since that Fatty insists on a head-on collision, let him collide to his heart’s desire!

If the Mecha Commander can’t do it, there’s still a War God here! The rules of the game are still in my hands!

In the pitch-black universe, a Chuckna reconnaissance ship was quietly floating in the void, like a magafish in the deep sea. The faint starlight around reflected off the reconnaissance ship, coating this small spaceship with a layer of dim light. From a distance, it was indistinguishable from the rolling space rocks nearby.

The narrow control room of the ship was dull and oppressive. The light of the instrument indicators was flashing intermittently. In front of the console, two corporals were holding coffee, quietly staring at the space radar display, occasionally exchanging a few words.

Ship captain Harlow stooped and walked into the low cabin door of the control room, grabbing the handrail overhead and asked, ”Anything to report?”

A tall corporal turned his head: ”No, sir. Want some coffee?”

Major Harlow muttered a couple of words, squeezed through the last few rows of seats, and walked to the console: ”Give me a cup, damn it, drinking coffee probably won’t help me sleep.”

Another blond, freckled-faced corporal handed a metal cup to Harlow, picked up the coffee pot, poured coffee for him, and asked, ”Sir, still can’t sleep?”

”Yeah!” Harlow took a sip of coffee, sat down on a chair behind the two, and pressed his temple saying, ”Lately I’ve been restless, once I lie down in the rest cabin, my heart gets anxious and chaotic.”

”Will the Suss people come?” the tall corporal asked.

”Who knows?!” Harlow finished his coffee in one gulp, extended his cup, indicating for the freckled corporal to refill it, complaining, ”We’ve been here for three days. Those Suss people haven’t made a move. I don’t know why, but I always feel something strange. Logically, they should have gathered and should be here by now!”

”There are only two routes to Mars’s A-level channel anyway.” The tall corporal shrugged, smiling: ”Sir, our fleet is guarding the jump point, they certainly can’t slip under our noses, right?!”

Harlow smiled self-deprecatingly, sipping his coffee without speaking. The control room fell silent temporarily.

This reconnaissance ship, named the [Night Cat], was currently located in the AU1771 star system, five jump points away from Mars Free Port. Moving forward through another four star system jump points leads to the third section of the southeast main channel. This is one of the A-level channels leading to Mars Planet, known by the Mars people as the Triumph Corridor.

The name Triumph Corridor dates back to when Mars was part of mainstream human society, during a race war between the immigrant planets after the Earth Federation’s dissolution, where the nation Mars belonged to ultimately prevailed. This passage was also the path used for the final battle then, with Mars serving as the forward base for the counterattack.

Thousands of years have passed; the map of humanity has changed beyond recognition. Mars has also degraded into an exile place, with only this passage retaining its original name.

Here lies the frontline for the Fei Alliance Joint Army to resist the Suss attack.

If the Suss Fleet intends to launch a massive attack on Mars, for their carriers, the Triumph Corridor and another channel leading to the fourth section of the main route known as the Louis Corridor are their best choices. These two channels, like a Y-shape, emerge from different star systems of the main channel and ultimately converge at the Ernst Star System, two jump points away from Mars Planet.

The defensive line arranged by the Chuckna 12th Group Fleet and the Feiyang B15 Fleet is located in the Ernst Star System.

The defensive line has long since been arranged, and the fleet has been waiting for the arrival of the Suss people for a long time. Time and again, guesses were made about the Suss people’s invasion time, but each time they were in vain, causing the entire fleet to appear somewhat restless. Coupled with discord with the Feiyang Fleet, staying in space and enduring waiting is truly unbearable.

Being stuck with such an unreliable Allied Fleet in this damned star domain is simply a nightmare. Everyone only hopes that the Suss people would arrive soon, so everyone could have a hearty fight!

Then we’ll see what those Feiyang brats can actually do!

Having drunk coffee, his mind was in a state of excitement, but his body was terribly exhausted. Harlow leaned back in the soft, spacious aviation seat, closing his eyes to rest. In his ears, amidst the subtle hissing of the life support system and environmental balance device, the electronic sound of the radar chirped crisply every few seconds.

The air in the control room was filled with the aroma of coffee.

”Beep beep!” The two successive electronic sounds jolted Harlow out of his seat.

”Officer!” The freckled corporal was rapidly typing on the keyboard, extracting radar scan data, while the large corporal was flusteredly trying to lock onto the abnormal signal source and set up a directional radar scanning area.

Harlow didn’t have time to take a detour. With a flip, he vaulted over the back of the chair to the front row, urgently hitting the assembly button and engaging the main engine’s start mechanism.

Just as hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor outside the control room, a dense array of light dots appeared on the radar, like the first raindrops of a sudden downpour on a calm lake.

Two destroyers, one cruiser, one destroyer, two battleships, one battleship........The eight rows of seats in the rectangular control room were already filled with crew members who rushed over from the resting cabin, with reports and instrument beeps interweaving.

When the final radar scanning data was tallied, Harlow and all his subordinates were dumbstruck. Four A-level fleets, two B-level fleets! The Suss people had come out in full force!

Seeing the screen filled with light dots, Harlow suddenly shivered. The Suss Fleet had already appeared before them, so where was their vanguard......

”Full throttle on the thrusters, right turn 2600 units, full speed!”

Amidst Harlow’s shout, on the far-screen display, two Suss ”Sword of Imperial Power” space fighters, like ghosts, revealed themselves 15,000 kilometers away.

The tournament continued in a dull yet peculiar atmosphere.

After Baz’s battle, no one was interested in other sect Mecha warriors. Now, the undercurrents between the Feiyang people and the bandit army far surpassed the tournament itself.

The Feiyang had no shortage of advanced mech warriors. Not to mention Absolute Kill Stream alone had Level 3 Mecha War God Hariman and Level 1 Mecha War God Kirburn. Tai Sect also had Level 3 Mecha War God Nakagawa Daiki.

But the bandit army only sent four Mechanical Knights. The highest level was just the original Phantom Stream’s Young Sect Master, Level 1 Mechanical Knight Cosmo.

Everyone was eager to know what the outcome of the tournament would be.

They had no doubt about the Feiyang people’s determination to use more aggressive methods in the subsequent confrontations. However, the more it was like this, the more they wanted to see clearly how the bandit army would respond.

The bandit army had already given the Feiyang people a slap in the face. What would the Fatty covered in notes do next?!

Would they take the win and stop, by not letting the young Mechanical Knights confront the Mecha War Gods, or would they strike back at the Feiyang’s arrogance in a tougher manner?!

The tournament continued, uneventful.

Long Tai, infantry, and Cosmo each went on stage in turn and defeated their opponents. Unlike Baz, their opponents were not Mechanical Commanders but Mechanical Knights of similar levels.

The Feiyang people seemed to have no intention of making it difficult for them anymore. Later, people even felt that the initial duel between Baz and Parkinson was just a coincidence.

This feeling persisted until four o’clock in the afternoon, when the final sixteen were announced.

The matchup for the final sixteen.

Baz versus Absolute Kill Stream Level 3 War God Hariman.

Cosmo versus Absolute Kill Stream Level 1 Mecha War God Kirburn.

Infantry versus Tai Sect Level 3 Mecha War God Nakagawa Daiki.

Long Tai versus Raging Stream Level 1 Mecha Commander Joseph.

There was an uproar in the stands.
