Counterfeit Hero

Nobody expected that, at just the first encounter, the Fatty who leaped out of the booth, running and shouting, making a commotion noisier than a New Year’s celebration, and attracting everyone’s attention with such a grand and dazzling entrance, would just... collapse like that....

The audience on the stands were all stunned, their minds blank, as were the people in the booth.

Zhang Pengcheng and a group of Chuckna officers clutched the balcony railings tightly, their eyes practically popping out. Margaret covered her mouth, eyes wide open, pale and in disbelief. Carolina gritted her teeth, her expression complex, her eyes flickering. Cheng Zhixuan showed a trace of schadenfreude.

But the one most unprepared was Anmon!

During the battle against the three [Rangers], he had long noticed the Fatty’s every move. When the Fatty charged over, his first feeling was a severe threat!

Before his transformation, Anmon was just a Sixth-level Mecha Warrior with a hand speed of thirty-five actions. In terms of hand speed, compared to the abnormal speeds of fifty or sixty actions common on Mars Planet, he was nothing, and in terms of mechanical control skills, even more so. What he relied on was a mecha control system that took direct commands from his brain.

This control system turned the entire mecha into part of his body; when he wanted his finger to move, the mecha’s finger would move, and when he wanted to run, the mecha would run. The more trained the brain, the longer the time spent in harmony with the mecha, the more adept the control became.

The same mecha actions, which meant complex control commands for other Mech Knights, were merely a thought for him. The difference between them was vast.

When he first arrived on Mars, not only did Kubo not believe in his capabilities, Anmon himself was also somewhat unsure of his own strength.

After all, the illustrious name of Free World Mecha Fighting was familiar to any Mecha Warrior, having grown up with those legends.

However, when he easily defeated more than ten Tai Sect Knights, including Nakagawa Daiki, in one match, appearing invincible like a Heavenly God, what he saw was submission.

After that battle, neither he nor his mecha harbored any doubt.

The feeling of mastering everything and looking down upon the heroes intoxicated him. He even had an impulse to pilot his mecha, walk out, and challenge all the Mars Mecha Knights, just as the legend of the fifty bandit army Mech Knights roamed Central City. But he wanted to do it more thoroughly; he wanted to roam Mars alone, to see more people submit!

This was why, when he was forcibly blocked by three young Mech Knights using traditional control methods, it was like a giant wave was swept inside him.

He had given his all, but the opponents’ mecha moves far exceeded his imagination. He could defeat Nakagawa Daiki using the techniques from the Mechanical Control Standards, but he couldn’t defeat these three young Mech Knights who had reached another level in their techniques.

What terrified him even more was that every time he was about to finish off one of the mecha, there always seemed to be a mysterious force causing him to lose balance, tightening the grip, watching helplessly as the prey slipped away time after time. If not for [Judgement] being strong enough, several times he almost failed under this force’s interference.

The three green mechas with their big bellies were spinning rapidly around him, each with the same metallic mask on its head: a fat face with an eternal mocking smile.

This smile drove him mad in the face of his repeated futile attempts.

When he saw the owner of that face personally piloting the mecha towards him, Anmon, ensnared in the ever-tightening entanglement of the three mechas, already had an ominous premonition.

He didn’t understand what that force was, only appearing at crucial moments, yet able to bind him from start to finish. He didn’t know how high these three young Mech Knights’ mechanical control skills were. He didn’t know how many such Mech Knights and mechas existed in this world.

He only knew that although he possessed power beyond this era, he underestimated his opponents and fell into a large net. He desperately wanted to report all this to the Judgement Legion, to the Imperial Army Department! The Judgement Legion, previously thought to have no opponents, seemingly already faced a rival. Nobody knew how many the bandit army had, but the Judgement Legion had only a little over two hundred people!

This was such crucial intelligence...... but if he couldn’t leave here in a few minutes, everything would be futile.

When the green mecha, big bellied, charged, he struck.

Using a nearly mutually destructive method!

At that moment, he even prepared to switch his consciousness, withdrawing from the mecha and regaining control of his body. His hand, soaked in warm nutrient liquid, tightly gripped the mecha’s self-destruct device switch. Just a gentle rotation to the right, and the mecha, which must not fall into anyone’s hands, would become a heap of scrap iron.

[Judgement] was designed with a precise self-destruct device from the beginning. Due to executing various tasks, often encountering scanner checks, this self-destruct device is not explosive but a combination of mechanical violence and high temperature. Once activated, it will instantly destroy the crucial systems inside the mecha.
