Counterfeit Hero

”I’m sorry!” Fang Xiang could no longer maintain her facade. She bent over, covered her face, and sobbed uncontrollably at the sight of the elderly figure. ”I’m sorry!.....”

The officers wept as they looked at the beautiful figure before them. Throughout this journey, how could they not know the heavy burden that rested on those frail shoulders?

They never blamed her for any of the decisions she made. Under such circumstances, no one could have done better than her.

This was a collective choice. Since the moment they decided to resist in the Longbow Star System, they had become aware of their future. It was a path leading to death, lonely and arduous. But so what? Saleria was not a weak nation; this country had a group of people who always stood tall with pride!

Every member of the fleet was immensely proud to be one of those people!

The Valor Battleship was hit. The red energy shield could not provide sufficient protection. A shot from the main cannon of the pirate cruiser pierced through the battleship’s armor, leaving a huge hole in the hull. The Valor Battleship turned its rudder and continued to fire.....

An officer fell to his knees. Tears streamed down his handsome face as he clasped his hands tightly, praying for his comrades.

Time passed minute by minute, the Valor Battleship was still fighting. The officers wept, biting their lips, clenching their fists. Many had already turned away, unable to bear watching any longer.

Suddenly! A straight beam of light shot out from the corner of the screen, piercing the rear of a pirate armed merchant ship.... It seemed like an eternity had passed, and dozens of beams, thick and thin, surged into the pirate fleet. The explosions’ flashes lit up the entire universe like fireworks.

Fang Xiang stared blankly at the screen. In the bottom left corner, a strange ship the size of a cruiser revealed its light-reflecting, menacing ramming beak.....

Evergreen Vine Star in the Catalonia Star System was a top-tier immigrant planet of the Naga Federation.

This planet, famous throughout human society, possessed an inland sea of fresh water covering thirty percent of its total area and eight hundred million species of various plants. Not only was Evergreen Vine Star industrially advanced, but it was also a famous tourist destination, often referred to as the green paradise.

But now, paradise had turned into hell.

In the sky, five black warships were descending rapidly through the atmosphere.

Their tough alloy hulls reflected cold light under the sun. The heavy external armor, like giant steel mosaics, combined with the menacing gun barrels and sharp hull designs, displayed their cruelty and power.

The atmosphere rubbed against the warships, causing a red glow at their bows and bottoms, which was wrapped outside the blue energy shield. The five warships descended straight to the ground like five falling meteors.

Admiral Lunan of the Ryan Republic stood on the bridge of the destroyer Little Bull, which he was temporarily aboard. His thoughtful black eyes stared motionlessly at the expanding horizon as the warships descended.

In his view, this planet, known as the green paradise, was not as pleasing to the eye.

The hills and plains once covered densely with plants now had many areas that were devastated. Amidst the endless green were patches of red and yellow soil, extremely glaring when viewed from above.

Obviously, these were places plowed by energy cannons and missiles or trampled by the flood of the Mecha Group. On this fire-ravaged planet, such ugly patches were spreading swiftly. They extended along the trenches around the cities, along traffic arteries, and with the omnipresent spread of artillery fire.

Lunan found it somewhat ironic. In peacetime, such destruction would be enough to trigger a massive environmental protection campaign throughout human society, potentially including himself as an avid traveler and mountaineer environmentalist.

But now, no one cared about these things anymore. Fundraising or protesting to protect the environment, refusing to cut down a tree, such actions only happened in peacetime. When war came, even humans fell like wheat in a bloodbath. Who cared about the survival of plants?

Whether from the Naga Federation or Ryan Republic, people only cared about one thing now—who could win this crucial battle of the Evergreen Vine!

Several land-based armored aircraft appeared outside the large porthole at the front of the bridge. They rolled agilely and quickly aligned with the warships, forming a silent escort formation.

The lead pilot, wearing a white helmet and black goggle-like auxiliary control device, saluted Lunan nonchalantly through the transparent cockpit.

Lunan returned the salute and turned to walk down from the control platform. The appearance of these aircraft meant the ground base was not far. It also indicated that the air control over this planet was not yet fully under the Ryan Republic’s control.

This would be a tough war!

As the front-line commander of the Ryan Republic, Lunan was supposed to stay in the command room of the Ryan 3rd Joint Fleet flagship Leader Lion aircraft carrier.

The reason he came to Evergreen Vine Star personally was that the ground army was in a dire situation and needed his direct oversight. And the opponent he faced was commanding the Naga Federation Army on the vast land of Evergreen Vine, maneuvering with Unhindered Stride.
