Counterfeit Hero

Immediately after, there was another burst..... The milky white Energy Cannon light group struck the same target with the precision and intensity of a downpour, hitting with dozens of energy bullets!

The deafening explosions and the brilliant white flashes were as dazzling as exploding stars in the universe. Black smoke, carrying dust, billowed up like a giant mushroom; crimson flames licked through the smoke... Everyone was stunned.

Then, a fiery and exhilarating sensation surged from deep within their hearts, accompanied by a rush of hot blood to their heads—nothing could be more satisfying. People watched in a trance-like state at the captivating and mind-ensnaring light! No one was willing to blink! Every face flushed with an unhealthy redness, trembling with excitement.

Zhang Kai opened his mouth, wanting to shout something, but eventually he just smashed his fist onto the windowsill.

The camera panned out to the distance... Through the billowing smoke, hundreds of Blood-colored Mercenary Army infantry at the intersection could be seen, their faces stiff and their expressions unbearable to watch.

Several Red Mechas with thumbs raised were frozen in place, their poses ironically illuminated by the explosion in the middle of the street.

Just seconds ago, they were jeering and laughing, cheering for their comrade’s brazen provocation; seconds later, they were slapped in the face by an explosion— that comrade, who had been insulted as an idiot, was provocatively seeking death in front of a formed formation, and was unabashedly fulfilled!

The silence of the forty Black Mechas was not cowardice, but contempt! Hidden beneath their armor were more ferocious Energy Cannons. Without a word, not even glancing at the more than one hundred units of Fire Element present, they concentrated forty cannons on one person, like playing collective bowling, just for the fun of it!

Could there be a greater humiliation?

Without Kodell’s orders and without expecting those dozens of mechas to brazenly fire despite the threat posed by over a hundred Fire Elements, the Blood-colored Mercenary Army soldiers on-site were momentarily stupefied.

This stupefaction quickly turned to utter terror.

The Energy Cannon muzzles of those Black Mechas at the front glowed again with strands of light and sparks, shoulder-mounted machine guns began their silent yet terrifying rotation, and from the open abdominal armor, missile launchers sprang forth, launching red-tipped white-bodied missiles with trailing smoke...

Time seemed to freeze.

Frozen as well were the communication devices of every Blood-colored Mercenary Army member... apart from a shrill noise, there was no other sound.

No command, no coordination.

Many did not even understand what was happening before the overwhelming barrage of artillery and missiles consumed them utterly.

The infantry’s severed limbs and broken bodies were hurled skyward in the explosions, while the Mecha energy shields flickered like flames in a storm.

”Defensive formation, spread out!” The platoon leader of the 3rd Battalion, Assault Group One of the Blood-colored Mercenary Army, was the highest-ranking commander at the intersection. He shouted desperately, trying to organize his subordinates for a counterattack.

But all that answered him were the ear-piercing screeches within the communication channel, and his Mechanical Computer flashing a red alert—Automatic fire control system failure, auxiliary control system failure, radar system failure...

Even more maddening, as the Blood-colored Mercenary Army fell into chaos, the forty Black Mechas suddenly launched an assault—they were charging!

”Defend!” The platoon leader’s shrill call through the Mecha loudspeaker was drowned out by the furious sound of explosions.

In an instant, the black steel torrent cut into the Blood-colored Mercenary Army ranks with the speed of a Thunderbolt, stirring up a storm of blood and carnage.

The hasty and sporadic counterfire from the Red Mechas was entirely ignored. The Mixed Shells, which had been so potent against Commerce Alliance forces, merely caused slight ripples in the blue Energy Shields of these Black Mechas. That moment of chaos had already sealed their fate.

Viewed from above, the black torrent piercing into the Red Mecha group looked like a steel knife stabbing into tofu. The ion Flowing Light of the armor-piercing axe blades shimmered, and the light shield on their left arms lit up as smooth as a mirror. With shields raised and axes falling in waves, one Red Mecha after another was cut down like vegetables.

A Red Mecha was retreating rapidly, its mounted Mixed Cannon firing desperately, spraying a chain of bullets. In front of it, a Black Mecha silently and fiercely accelerated forward.

The frantic close-range fire from the Red Mecha did not halt the Black Mecha’s advance. The Mixed Shells exploded violently against the Black Mecha. Through smoke and flames, the Black Mecha burst forth with its armor-piercing axe gleaming, targeting the chest of the Red Mecha.

”Rank suppression!”

This was the last thought that flashed through the mind of the Mechanical Warrior inside the Red Mecha.

He never understood why there were Mechas here capable of rank suppression over his Fire Element.

The ion armor-piercing axe shattered the cockpit armor of the Fire Element and burst out from the back of the mecha, sending a spray of flesh and blood.

Stepping on the Red Mecha to pull out his axe, lifting it above his head to point at the sky, the angry Fatty, who had been enraged by the senseless slaughter conducted by the Blood-colored Mercenary Army, coldly spat: ”Do to them as they did to us!”
