Counterfeit Hero

That guy still considers himself a regular soldier, Barbarossa talked about it privately while chatting with the pirates, damn it, if all regular soldiers were like that guy, pirates in this world would all retire and wash their hands of it!

Energy, medicine, food, electrical appliances, ores, metal materials, mecha parts, ship assembly parts... with the First Fleet rampaging around, the base’s material warehouse was almost full. The confiscated transport ships, escort ships, and armed merchant ships were all brought into the base for disassembly and modification.

The current bandit army base had turned into a large military factory. Combat mecha, docks, torpedo factories, energy cannon assembly plants, energy shield manufacturing plants... that Fatty, like a cartoon character’s Doraemon, constantly pulled out military technology. Using dismantled civilian substitute parts and a small number of handmade key parts to manufacture military weapons and equipment was unimaginable before.

Although these military factories were now just in their infancy, with limited levels of military weapons and equipment they could produce, Barbarossa had no doubt that once Fatty got scientists and instruments from Mars Free Port, and once the bandit army space fleet and ground forces joined forces, then...

People live only once for a glorious life! Barbarossa had completely devoted himself and the entire Redbeard Pirate Group to Fatty’s pirate ship. The strength of the bandit army was expanding day by day. If they could swallow the Demon’s Eye Pirate Group this time, the bandit army fleet would truly leap forward!

”As for the rest...” Barbarossa extinguished the cigar in his hand, ”Maintain attack formation, follow me!”

”Engines full open!”

”Left turn 146 degrees, number three steering propulsion on, main propulsion steady increase.”

”Turning complete, preparing to enter the jump point.”

”Jump complete.”

On the bandit army First Fleet warship, everyone was busily engaged.

The crew frequently looked up at the display screens hanging everywhere, their faces showing undisguised excitement.

Time for measurements, time for navigation, time for controls, work completion time for each position, fleet formation cooperation time... all these indicators were improving each day! Some of these data, not to mention the ex-pirates, even the experienced Leray soldiers on the Blue Rose had never achieved.

Leaving aside the factors of the ships themselves, the current bandit army First Fleet could also be considered elite!

The fleet had arrived at the DE-4541 Star System.

Chekov received the coded communication from Fatty and also the image data sent back by the reconnaissance ship.

The Demon’s Eye Pirate Base was built on the back of the nearest planet to the constant star in the star system, the entire place shielded by the planet’s meteorite belt and outer planet gravity circle, filled with debris and stardust, with very hidden and winding passage routes. To understand these routes, the bandit army reconnaissance ship had hidden in the meteorite belt for nearly a week, using the military radar on the Blue Rose to map the entry and exit routes of Demon’s Eye’s ships and clear the passageway.

In the image data sent back by the reconnaissance ship, the cruiser was patrolling the asteroid belt outside the Demon’s Eye Pirate Base, occasionally firing at the meteorite belt and frequently adjusting the ship’s flight status, apparently troubled by the gravitational circle of the outer planet and unable to find a way in.

Seeing the close-up photo of the cruiser taken by the reconnaissance ship, Chekov knew that Fatty’s guess was correct.

As an experienced officer of the Leray 4th Fleet, Chekov had deep knowledge of the main warships of all countries. He immediately recognized that the cruiser patrolling outside the Demon’s Eye Base was the Saleria Federation’s 2056 fully deployed [Longbow] class heavy cruiser!

This type of cruiser had always been the main cruiser of the Saleria Longbow Local Fleet, with the military purchasing eighty ships. By the time the war broke out completely in 2062, Saleria had delivered thirty-five ships and actually equipped with twenty-eight, mainly concentrated in the Saleria Longbow Local Fleet and Saleria 5th Fleet. The remaining purchase orders had been canceled due to changes in Saleria’s political situation.

What puzzled Chekov was that although a [Longbow] class heavy cruiser was enough to launch an attack on the base with only ground-based defensive forces, the time and cost would certainly be significant! And, four hundred and sixty thousand kilometers away from the Demon’s Eye Base, in a nebula, there was quietly parked a [Napoleon] class battleship!

The [Napoleon] class battleship was also one of the Saleria Federation’s main battleships, with the first one launched from the shipyard in 2049 and entered military service. Over the years, it had been renowned for its distinctive compact design and powerful defense. Although this [Napoleon] class battleship looked battered from the outside, its appearance alone in the Free World was enough to throw everyone in the Demon’s Eye Base into despair!

What was unfathomable was that the battleship was just sitting there quietly, with all lights and engines off, like a ghost ship, showing no intention of participating in the attack!

What on earth was going on?

The more Chekov pondered, the more restless he became.

Ever since receiving the coded communication from Fatty, Chekov had completely lost his usual calm.

Knowing the identity of this fleet, he also understood Fatty’s intention - this wandering remnant fleet in the Free World was a natural ally of the bandit army! No matter what, they had to find a way to tie this fleet to the bandit army’s pirate ship!

A heavy cruiser and a battleship were already enough to make Chekov’s heart race.

”Colonel!” The communications liaison officer handed Chekov a document, ”This is the latest news from the reconnaissance ship!”

Chekov took it and felt a sudden flash before his eyes, hot blood rushed to his head, and he felt burning all over - an aircraft carrier, two battleships, and five cruisers!

This was the entire strength of the retreating Saleria Longbow Local Fleet in the Free World!

Now, except for the cruiser attacking the Demon’s Eye Base, the other Saleria warships were hiding far away, with lights off and engines off, completely still.

Chekov paced back and forth on the bridge, breathing rapidly. The strange behavior of the Saleria people left him unable to judge and analyze - if he were commanding this fleet, he would have led all warships to crush the Demon’s Eye Base with overwhelming force!

”Immediately contact Colonel Tian Xingjian!” Chekov felt a slight resentment toward Fatty for not being present at such a critical moment! This was not a decision an ordinary destroyer captain could make. If something went wrong, Chekov would regret it to death - a fleet like this would be a huge windfall if they could trick it into their hands! But if a slight mistake was made, it could destroy the bandit army Fatty had painstakingly created!
