Counterfeit Hero

The Second Battalion has been ordered to rendezvous with the direct assault company personally led by Kodell, advancing slowly along the main axis of Puluo Town. Along the way, they gathered fleeing mechas and infantrymen from the Third Battalion. When any combat unit encountered an electronic suppression, they were to use the mecha loudspeakers for communication, while grassroots commanders would use mecha hand signals or mecha signal lights.

To avoid being defeated piecemeal by the enemy, Kodell quickly established contact with the First Battalion, which was maneuvering to the west suburbs of Puluo Town, ordering them to launch a probing attack on the Tai Sect Puluo Branch with a company of troops immediately. The other units were to retreat along the shores of Luoye Lake and converge toward the Third Avenue, forming a pincer movement along with the main force advancing along the central axis.

Kodell’s tactical arrangements were immediately carried out.

The Second Battalion rendezvoused with the direct assault company and began to slowly advance along the central axis, waiting for the First Battalion retreating along Luoye Lake to reach the designated position and coordinate the attack.

The changes in the situation were quickly reflected on Fatty’s mechanical computer through the remote radar monitoring of the electronic mechas.

Surprised by the tactical proficiency of the opposing commander, Fatty also breathed a sigh of relief. With one command, he led his troops to turn around without hesitation and ran swiftly, as if their legs were flying wheels.

Being able to decimate a full battalion and wipe out an infantry regiment without heavy firepower in the initial phase, Fatty was already very satisfied. If the enemy had disregarded everything to throw all their forces at him before the end of the first phase, even if they won in the end, it would have been a pyrrhic victory that cost them dearly!

Even with mecha superiority, in the face of the absolute advantage of nearly 900 enemy mechas, such superiority was not omnipotent. And Fatty only had two electronic mechas, pieced together with instruments from the ”Blue Rose” ship, for electronic interference!

Those were his treasures, and any losses in a fierce battle couldn’t be replaced, no matter how much he cried.

Besides, ”Heng Dao” was a Level 8 Mecha, not a true Level 10 ”Divine”! And the bandit army mecha soldiers’ training was still quite short.

The Leray Warriors and the group of pirates had an average operational proficiency of Level 5. In this world, that was almost insignificant.

If it weren’t for the electronic mechas destroying the enemy’s communication systems, automated fire controls, and radar systems; if it weren’t for the few killing moves in the mecha martial arts and the trisection strangulation tactics Fatty had extracted for close combat, challenging the enemy with just these few pieces was simply courting death!

Now, the enemy was starting to play it safe. Clearly, previous combat methods could no longer be applied.

The only way to take down these enemies seemed to be mobile warfare!

Though Puluo Town was called a town, it was truly larger than an ancient earth city with a population of millions. It’s just that, due to the city forest occupying most of the land, the population density and building density weren’t as high as those ancient cities.

The main axis spanned 50 kilometers long and stretched 30 kilometers north to south. The central city’s area alone was nearly 2,000 square kilometers. With over a hundred mechas maneuvering within such a broad range, it was entirely possible. Even with the enemy’s 800-plus mechas, it wasn’t enough to control such a large area completely.

However, Fatty preferred not to engage in his most adept form of mobile warfare.

Despite his natural inclination to flee.

Despite his thorough understanding of mobile warfare tactics, from encircling and flanking to ambush and division, through thousands of battle examples.

Despite having the tactics of enemy advance, our retreat; enemy retreat, our advance; enemy station, our disturbance; enemy exhaustion, our attack ingrained in his bones.

He still couldn’t engage in mobile warfare.

Because, with over a thousand Mech Knights in the Tai Sect Puluo Branch and a million civilians west of Echo Street, they were his Achilles’ heel! Losing them would render any significant victory meaningless.

Thus, Fatty never considered running from the start.

To achieve a victory that would convince the hesitant small sects and to establish the name of the Sect Mutual Aid Alliance, the only option was to execute a splendid positional annihilation battle, to thoroughly massacre and make anyone with ill intentions towards Puluo Town shudder at the thought of it!

An ancient saying goes, a real man must courageously face life’s harsh realities.

Damn it, no running then!

Fatty’s eyes shone as he rubbed his hands and stepped onto Puluo First Avenue, giving a bold command, and the black mechas dispersed!

Damn it.

A real man must despicably make the opponent face life’s harsh realities!

A donkey at the end of its rope!

This was Kodell’s evaluation of the so-called Sect Mutual Aid Alliance.

After a careless loss of a battalion at the beginning, Kodell commanded the troops to advance steadily.

The Second Battalion advanced along the central axis, while the First Battalion, advancing from south to west along the Third Avenue, formed a pincer movement. Their momentum aimed straight towards Puluo First Avenue.

The advance was not smooth. The enemy’s black mechas would appear in groups of two or three like ghosts, continuously harassing with electronic interference and small-scale mecha ambushes. As soon as the Blood-colored Mercenary Army set up a formation, they would engage and retreat, always maintaining a certain distance.

After carefully observing the enemy’s movements, Kodell confidently moved forward. He disregarded the enemy’s attempts to lure him away with their dispersed harassment. With the enemy’s forces, it was impossible to simultaneously block the advances of the Second Battalion and the First Battalion. As soon as they concentrated to attack one route, the pincer flanks would immediately close in under Kodell’s command.
