Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 278: Chapter 103: To Be King

In the expansive garden behind the Giant Dragon King’s castle, due to the planting and growth of the World Tree, the once barren land has been imbued with a light green hue by the naturally emitted life breath.

Many tender grass buds have taken root in the soil, and a world tree seedling, three meters tall but as thick as a person’s embrace, stretches its tender green branches in the center of the garden.

Thanks to the water from the magical spring in the Greenfield Forest, the World Tree seedling has grown in just a short half-month to the level that ordinary trees would take several or even more than ten years to reach.

Moreover, unlike ordinary trees, the growth height and trunk diameter of the World Tree almost always follow a fixed ratio, so even though it is only a little over three meters tall, it is much thicker than other trees.

Among the few initial branches of the World Tree, there are only a few tender green leaves hanging, making it look a bit bare.

Two chubby Titan Demon Pythons are struggling to coil their short, fat bodies around the branches of the World Tree, lest they fall off the tree.

The two snake cubs were left here by Karon to grow together with the World Tree, which is extremely beneficial for the two snake cubs, as being bathed long-term in the aura of the World Tree will also yield an increase in their life essence, with limitless future achievements.

And to some extent, the two snake cubs can also serve as a barrier to protect the World Tree, although they are still very weak now.

”Hiss, hiss,”

The larger snake cub laboriously curls its tail around a thick branch, extending its forked tongue to detect the strength of the life energy emitted by the World Tree, to capture it.

The other snake cub lazily curls up in the branch and trunk’s nest, allowing itself to be soaked by the increasingly thick life aura.

”Owo, your naturally emitted life energy benefits us, I wonder if I could have a taste of you, maybe your body would help us more!”

The larger snake cub said greedily, its eyes, which changed from round to vertical pupils, shining with greed, rubbing its fat short body against the World Tree Ovo’s trunk to ease the itching from scale growth.

Ovo is the name Karon gave the World Tree, which has a meaning in both the language of the Dragon Race and the Elves— the Divine Spirit that opens up the world.

This is an explanation of the essence of the World Tree, and it’s also a kind of expectation Karon has for this sapling close to him.

”The name dad gave you really matches your character, Grinek, you are always an insatiably greedy and malicious snake, unlike Haninek, who is quiet, kind, and restrained,”

The thick sapling World Tree Ovo swayed its branches, lowering a particularly long thick branch to gently flick the greedy demon python Grinek away.

”Ouch,” the greedy snake cub Grinek was flicked away, its short fat body twisting mid-air making a frightened sound.

”Not only will I punish your greed, but I’ll also report you to dad,” the consciousness of the World Tree Ovo undulated with a joyous emotion, clearly feeling proud of its behavior.

”Haninek, you’ll stand with me, right,” the World Tree Ovo lowered another branch, gently tapping the drowsy smaller snake cub on the head.

Under the influence of Heart Energy, which carries Karon’s extremely strong personal imprint, these three cubs have clearly inherited or amplified some of the traits from Karon in certain ways.

The other snake cub, Haninek, shook its drowsy head, opening its vertical pupils. Even Haninek, called the kind and restrained snake by the World Tree Ovo, like its brother, only changes into human-like round pupils in front of Karon.

Though Haninek the snake cub also appeared somewhat dazed in its vertical-pupil eyes, blinking its eyes and then softly saying: ”That’s not good, Ovo, dad is busy, we shouldn’t bother him with such trivial things!”

”You’re right, oh, recently I don’t know what dad’s been busy with, he hasn’t come to see us for several days, dad’s power is tastier than those natural auras and elemental magic power,”

The consciousness of the World Tree Ovo responded, and its lively branches also quieted down, as if gazing at the Red Dragon’s lair together with the dazed snake cub Haninek.

Karon is indeed very busy, although he has delegated most of his territory’s affairs to others with rightful authority, there are still many matters that only he can decide, and his pursuit of power and knowledge has never stopped.

Karon’s massive body coiled in his lair, within this eternally bubbling magma lake, where the dim magma lake illuminates Karon’s glowing scales and various treasures and divine irons floating and sinking in the magma with a heavy glow.

Chunks of precious minerals, either heated or cold extracted from the depths of the earth’s core, and lumps of Mithril emitting a silver glow float in the magma, while Karon breathes a hot yet stable, continuous high-temperature Dragon Fire to melt each material.

Karon peruses the knowledge inherited from the Ancient Magic Empire in his mind while integrating these materials according to the magical treasure crafting knowledge, linking their existence characteristics, allowing these materials to blend and exert their best functions harmoniously.
