Beneath the Red Dragon

”Alas, it’s necessary to allocate half of this temporary replicated sub-brain cluster’s functionality and computing power to assist the operation and control of this part of consciousness, otherwise I might have been able to calculate the result by myself,”

Karon walked back and forth beside the mages who were engrossed in calculations, scanning their methods and processes to provide more reference samples for the sub-brain.

This area of knowledge is still somewhat sluggish for Karon at the moment, so he can only completely delegate the work to the newly evolved sub-brain cluster.

Moreover, once he entered this ancient mage’s tower, it was almost equivalent to leaving the Greenfield Forest Plane and entering the Dark Ether World; he was now at an infinitely distant distance from his true form.

The distance is so far that he can no longer sense his true form; the originally unified consciousness, meant for synchronized multitasking, has temporarily been gradually blocked off.

”It seems that currently the maximum distance for other forms from the true form is the span of two planes, under the condition of having a connected Plane Teleportation Gate,”

”In such a situation, I can invoke the abilities of the true form, rather than solely relying on the divided abilities of the additional forms,”

Karon was evaluating his experiment, treating himself as the experiment subject.

Apart from himself, Karon’s newly birthed abilities have used heart energy and power of faith to integrate various bizarre spells, akin to Mirror Image Spell, Mirror Image Skill, Illusion Technique, and Imitation Technique, to somehow separate a Dragon Descendant form.

The Dragon Descendant form shares a great deal of similarity with Imitation Technique; both can speak, think, and act just like the original body, but unlike Imitation Technique, the Dragon Descendant form is not controlled by Karon as the caster—he is Karon.

Moreover, when the Dragon Descendant form perishes, it does not turn into a puddle of melted snow like the creations of Imitation Technique; instead, it directly returns to Karon’s original form, becoming one of Karon’s three forms once again.

In a sense, this is no longer a spell, but rather one of the embodiments of Karon’s three forms, bearing the power of faith related to those monster beloveds.

However, since Karon created this spell imperfectly, despite the assistance of the sub-brain and his personal efforts, he has not been on the path of magic for very long.

This Dragon Descendant form is more reliant on his own talent ability, utilizing the miraculous power of heart energy and power of faith to create it, with other magic knowledge serving only as a reference.

Thus, his Dragon Descendant form must be controlled by his main consciousness through divided attention, but fortunately, he has long been accustomed to this practice.

”I really find this a bit unsettling,” Karon slightly furrowed his brows; although there still exists a fundamental mystic connection with his true form, the blocked consciousness feels like suddenly being disconnected from the internet, a subtle sense of discomfort for Karon.

Everything experienced by this part of his consciousness cannot be transmitted in real-time to the main consciousness of his true form, which means he must be especially cautious next.

”I originally thought that exploring ruins requires more power, but in the eyes of those mages, power is merely an auxiliary to knowledge. With knowledge, power is but readily obtainable,”

Karon felt he needed to change his perspective; as a Giant Dragon, he was influenced by the Giant Dragon’s mindset, believing mere power could let one run rampant in the endless world.

But in most cases, unless one possesses unrivaled power in the world, strength must coexist with wisdom to succeed.

In the quiet Dark Ether World, only the soft murmurs of the troubled mages remained; the controller of the Dark Ether World had already retreated after issuing a warning. This world, which was vast enough for Karon and the others, was akin to a Giant Dragon dwelling in a sewer for a being like Chekov.

If not for adhering to the contractual agreement, the Dark Ether controller would not even let his spiritual construct descend here.

In this unique plane of the Dark Ether World, already resembling the existence of the Star Realm, the relative concept of time is always confused. Karon no longer knows how long it has been—perhaps three to five days, or maybe half a month—before the mages eventually reached their conclusions.

”Hahaha, I’ve finally succeeded,” the white-haired old mage Lapus had lost his usual calm demeanor; his head of white hair was tangled like a bird’s nest, all pulled out during the calculation process.

The other High Tier Mages, although they usually respected this Holy Sanctuary Grandmaster, glared at this Grandmaster when their own calculations were interrupted.

Squint-eyed Hughes even clenched his teeth, his eyes with heavy dark circles turning red as he looked at his teacher.

Lapus did not care about the reactions of the other mages; he laughed cheerfully, stood up shakily, and suddenly lunged forward, almost falling face-first into the ground due to poor blood circulation from prolonged sitting.

Immersed in the consciousness of his own sea of spiritual, Karon’s mind abruptly became active, he extended a Dragon Claw, with magic power slightly overflowing, easily scooped up the old mage Lapus with a large Mage’s Hand.

But Lapus completely disregarded his own woeful state, laughing loudly: ”Luckily, the Dark Ether World here is not like the Void, lacking the concept of time and unbounded direction, but instead stabilized by the ancient mages into an established half-plane existence, otherwise only Legendary Mages could figure things out.”
