Beneath the Red Dragon

”Using the wisdom and methods of a Mage?”

The brows of several High Tier Mages furrowed as they glanced at the controller of the Dark Ether World in front of them. It was clear that this was a specific test left by the former tower owner for Mages.

As for forcibly passing through the Void of the Dark Ether World, not to mention that this Ether Controller seems to be at least at the Legendary Tier, that adult Green Dragon seemed unable to withstand a single round before this controller and was effortlessly slain.

Although they had prepared many magical means in advance, they would fare no better than that adult Green Dragon in front of this powerful Ether Controller.

They were all orthodox Mages and deeply understood the might of a true Legendary Powerhouse. Even though this powerful Ether Controller appeared to have an agreement with the former Mages, it wouldn’t be too lenient on them.

Moreover, even if they could use some methods to temporarily stall this powerful Ether Controller, the countless Dark Ether creatures in the Void would also pose a major problem.

These Mages weren’t specifically targeted by the controller of the Dark Ether World earlier; otherwise, the idea of stalling the opponent would never have arisen. In front of a true Legend, without special means, it was akin to facing a Creator.

”Hehe, this is nothing more than the simplest of tests. As long as you do not attempt to forcibly cross this space, I can even offer you a hint. I have been waiting here long enough for Mages,”

”I am also eagerly awaiting someone to pass his test and receive his legacy so that I might obtain the knowledge I seek as promised,”

The terrifying aura from the initial descent of the Dark Ether King had long since retracted, revealing a form composed of Ether Energy and Void Fragments.

Although he was using Telepathy, Karon detected a strange, familiar lilt in his speech.

This Ether King hadn’t descended in his true form but was using a technique similar to those Mages used for Star Realm exploration to project a Psychic Construct in the Dark Ether World.

Yet, his capabilities here were almost indistinguishable from his true form. Therefore, this Ether Controller’s appearance was nearly identical to his original, and the Psychic Construct bore the insignia of the Ether Controller.

Karon was not intimidated by the power and capability of this Ether Controller, but he was intrigued and shaken by the decorations on the Ether King.

There was an emblem representing merit, indicating that this Dark Ether King perhaps did not belong to this world; no, perhaps it was more appropriate to use Cosmos and Crystal Wall System instead of world.

This confirmed what Karon had once heard about the Ancient Mages using the World Tree for research; their experiments seemed to have been successful.

Karon wished to inquire about certain matters from this powerful Ether King, but restrained himself forcibly, not wanting to expose himself recklessly, which was not a wise choice.

The purple king’s voice still carried that unavoidable lilt as he addressed the Mages: ”If you can precisely calculate the coordinates for Spatial Teleportation between these two constantly shifting planes, you can successfully reach the continent in the Void,”

”I can even control all the Ether Energy to prevent interference with the planar Teleportation Passage. How simple is that.”

On hearing this, not only did the High Tier Mages, but even the usually calm face of Holy Sanctuary Grandmaster Lapus couldn’t help but twitch.

Even though the Half-Plane left by the Ancient Mages seemed to belong to the same world as the entire Dark Ether Realm, they were actually two separate planes, not located on the same plane.

Even if they were on the same plane, for these Mages to construct a Magic Teleportation Gate on an unfamiliar plane, they would need to precisely calculate the coordinates of the teleportation location.

It’s akin to using Magic Knowledge to find their relative reference point, reconstructing a precise latitude and longitude calculation method.

Of course, the calculation systems of most Material Planes are quite universal, but for an unusual plane like the Dark Ether World, one must establish new reference points to calculate coordinates.

Otherwise, you might teleport to paradise, or end up in the Abyss.

Thus, Magic shares commonalities with mathematics, both being disciplines based on the foundational Laws of the world, and both requiring talent. Either you have it, or you don’t; if you can’t, you simply can’t.

The profession of Mage not only demands enormous wealth but also relies on exceptional talent. Mages who understand the world’s Laws more deeply become more powerful, as it means they can find common ground between different planes and world Laws.

This is the difference between Mages and Divine-like Spellcasters with inherent Bloodline Talents. Mages grow strong through knowledge, with extremely low entry barriers and extremely high potential.

This was the hardcore test left by Ancient Mages, and those who haven’t reached a certain level have no qualifications to receive their legacy.

And those who wish to forcibly seize the Mage’s legacy, even Legends, couldn’t succeed. In this Dark Ether World, in the domain of the Ether King, perhaps only descending Divine Spirits and those with Divine-like Power could have a chance to obtain the Mage’s treasures.
