Beneath the Red Dragon

”Descendants of the Magic Empire, heirs of the Eye of True Sight, bloodline of the Magic Kings, hand over your token to me. You have passed the previous tests, now I must inspect your insignia,”

”Of course, it’s only right,” the white-haired old mage Lapus lightly waved his right hand, the emblem in his palm faintly hovering above it.

The towering Black Stone Golem stepped forward, its eight-meter-tall body resembling a walking tower. Although these magical creatures do not possess the unique aura of ordinary living beings, their massive presence naturally carries a formidable momentum.

Karon had no doubt that this giant golem could easily twist off the head of an adult Green Dragon.

Golems are also war machines created by mages using knowledge, with extremely powerful combat abilities. Some strong golems can effortlessly block attacks from Ancient Dragons, and their variety and series are generally determined by the materials and core of the golem.

Like ordinary Clay Golems, Flesh Golems, Alchemy Golems, Iron Golems, and Ice Golems.

Most golems are automatic devices constructed from seemingly rudimentary materials using magical power. The process of creating golems involves the utilization of high-intensity magic and elemental power.

Therefore, although many golems are made of clay, flesh, iron, or special stones, they possess astounding strength and tolerance.

Moreover, the biggest advantage of golems is that they have no ambition, do not require food, feel no pain nor regret, and their existence completely follows the creator’s commands—to protect the creator or become an unstoppable destroyer for the creator.

And while golems are initially designated with laws to be eternally loyal to their creator, advanced golems are not rigid.

Many advanced golems can gain wisdom through animation, as the power for animating these advanced golems comes from various magical sources. Some mages capture souls from the Earth Elemental Plane specifically to animate their golems.

There are also Dragon Bone Golems, Dragonstone Golems, and Iron Dragon Golems, which are infused with the powerful life force of Giant Dragons and transformed souls.

The golem before them was clearly created from a particularly hard, unique stone, offering extraordinary physical defense, and as a mage’s creation, it generally possesses excellent magic resistance.

Indeed, this formidable magic resistance not only comes from the anti-magic attributes of its own material and the additional influence of magical power but is also similar to a process that absorbs magic energy to halt the effects of magic on its body.

Karon could sense that the golem’s core emitted a strong energy fluctuation.

Additionally, the golem’s core seemed to resonate faintly with the whole core area, which also meant this golem could harness and mobilize the immeasurable force of elemental power within this core space.

Buzz, buzz, buzz

The enormous golem stopped behind the veil of light, its stone-fashioned head suddenly revealing a magical insignia, akin to the emblem in the mage’s hand, glowing softly like an Eye of Magic.

A portal opened on the heavy veil of light guided by the golem’s Eye of Magic, immediately releasing a jet of rich elemental power as if it were a tangible presence, overwhelming everyone in a sea of elemental power.

Karon’s body automatically absorbed the abundant elemental power, replenishing his body with it. In the blink of an eye, Karon felt his magical power was already filled to the point it could no longer absorb any more.

”It’s truly terrifying. In this place, a mage’s magic can be wielded with tenfold strength, and the magic they can harness seems almost limitless. No wonder the saying ’a mage’s tower is a mage’s Divine Kingdom’ exists.”

Karon felt that if a mage with ordinary talent were to grow in such an environment, they would likely become a genius in the eyes of ordinary people under the infusing power of this terrifying elemental force.

”Mages, although you are descendants of the Ancient Magic Kings, you are not bearers of the Supreme Council’s lineage. Thus, you have the qualification to learn knowledge but cannot become the supreme ruler of all resources here!”

The towering golem examined the information stored in the emblem with its Eye of Magic on its forehead and then addressed the group.

”As for other wealth and resources, according to the Supreme Council’s decree of the Ancient Magic Empire, descendants of your level may withdraw a certain proportion of resources, one-tenth of each, as my remaining commands have informed me.”

Many mages were somewhat disappointed but then realized that even just one-tenth of the countless elemental crystals before them represented immeasurable wealth, and their faces showed genuine joy.

Though the white-haired old mage’s face appeared calm, his eyes were filled with joy, his excitement even making his voice tremble uncontrollably: ”It’s enough, it’s enough. What’s more important is the knowledge of those magical supreme halls.”

Karon did not harbor any particular greed for these riches; on one hand, he did not want such emotions and desires to influence him, so he controlled his desires.

On the other hand, the initial agreement with the mages included the sharing of magical knowledge but did not encompass the sharing of wealth.

”Very well, please enter, descendants of the Ancient Magic Kings,” the towering golem opened the portal, indicating the mages could step inside.
