Beneath the Red Dragon

Chapter 277: Chapter 102: Can I Eat This? (Part 3)

”This is the property of Lord Camid and the White Young King Lord Gomot. Thanks to the generosity of the Giant Dragon Lord, these blocks of ice are supplied to the territory at a very low price,”

”If your vision could be as long-reaching and sharp as those mighty Giant Dragon Lords, perhaps you might also see many people collecting ice blocks atop the mountains of the Twin Sons!”

The Half-Elf boasted proudly.

In fact, even the Dragon’s vision is not enough to spot figures hidden in the mountains hundreds of kilometers away on the ground. However, the territory’s people always tend to either boast and deify their ruler, or belittle and demonize them.

”Oh, really a business-savvy Dragon, a generous Lord,” Saladin smacked his lips and exclaimed, ”Come on, old chap, give us another big glass. Your craft is simply amazing, just as excellent as my weapon forging skills!”

The Half-Elf cheerfully rolled out a barrel and filled up these Dwarves, who had been hanging around this area for days without leaving, with drinks.

As for Clagon, this Dwarf Blacksmith Official who had proactively written to recruit friends, he had been temporarily forgotten by these Dwarves.

Perhaps only when these Dwarves had spent all their money on drinks would they remember their brother Clagon, who is still waiting for news.

...

”Dad, Dad, can I eat this?” ”Not this one!”

”Dad, Dad, what’s that? It looks delicious, can I eat it?” ”Not this one, either!”

”Dad, you smell really good; can I take a bite?” ”...”

Two chubby little snakes blinked their round black eyes, looking quite cute, but the words they spoke were not so endearing.

These two Titan Demon Pythons were less than a meter long upon birth, but they had fat heads and big mouths, wanting to try a bite of everything except their eggshells.

Karon fed them a whole little lamb sent by the Elf Maid, which these two chubby Demon Pythons swallowed in one gulp each, marking their first meal since birth.

At this moment, Karon used the tip of his tail to hold these barely noticeable slightly bulging bellied snake babies and brought them to the almost completed castle.

The broad and tall castle, spacious enough to allow a Dragon’s real body to enter and exit easily, was nearly finished on the outside, thanks to the efforts of countless slaves and War Tree-men. Particularly after the War Tree-men joined, the building speed significantly increased.

Now the castle’s expansive backyard garden was also completed but was barren, without any ornamental plants yet, and the fountain at the center with a Giant Dragon statue hadn’t drawn spring water, all awaiting further refurbishments.

Karon’s arrival did not disturb the slaves and Tree-men diligently building. The attending Elf Maid had already driven out the other artisans from the garden to provide a quiet environment for Karon.

Karon came to the garden center, beside the fountain, planning to plant the seed of the World Tree here.

Although the safest place in the entire territory is certainly Karon’s Dragon Nest, its extreme Magic Power presence is unsuitable for the World Tree’s growth, and the volcanic area connected to the earth’s core is not an environment the World Tree prefers.

Therefore, Karon chose to plant the World Tree in the future King’s Castle backyard garden, which will become the most heavily guarded place later.

Moreover, he is not worried about the space here hindering the World Tree’s future growth. Without Karon using Space Skill, the World Tree will naturally have the ability to open space after it grows.

Two slender and tall Elf Maids wielded hoes, digging a pit into the ground.

Although these actions could be completed with a casual Magic instruction from Karon, he never hinders his subordinates’ desire to perform, which is beneficial for a ruler.

The two Demon Pythons slid off Karon’s tail tip, wiggling their chubby bodies to the Elf Maids who were busily sweating.

The slightly larger snake baby flicked its still pink forked tongue to test the pheromones in the air, then blinked its big black eyes and looked with anticipation towards Karon, who was squatting beside, asking, ”Dad, can I eat these two?”

The other slightly smaller but equally chubby snake baby widened its round eyes, eagerly awaiting Karon’s response.

The two Elf Maids wielding hoes stiffened instantly. Although they knew this Red Dragon wouldn’t casually dispose of people around him, Dragons are always unpredictable in the eyes of these Elves.

They couldn’t guarantee what the Red Dragon might do.

”Hehe,” Karon’s massive body squatting resembled a huge red boulder, with the two Titan Demon Python hatchlings appearing like little bugs that could be crushed easily with a finger.

He slightly lowered his head, his naturally aloof crimson pupils like the most perfect ruby moving close to the two expectant snake babies, much like a terrifying beast eyeing ants.

”You two, though surprisingly gaining my affection, this fondness isn’t unlimited indulgence,” Karon’s crimson vertical pupils revealed a hint of impatience towards the unruly kids.

”You’d better quickly learn and understand what things you should and shouldn’t do, lest you make mistakes I can’t tolerate; I don’t mind letting other Dragons taste a delicious snack!”

”Aye, Dad, don’t scare me; you’re too grumpy!” The larger snake baby blinked, withdrawing its tongue quietly.

”Dad, Dad, don’t eat us,” the smaller snake baby widened its round eyes, its voice soft and tender like a child, ”We’ll only eat things you allow us to, and things that don’t listen to you!”

Karon retracted his head, scratching his chin with his Dragon Claw, suddenly feeling these snake babies weren’t too much of a nuisance.

”How about I name one of you ’Can Eat’ and the other ’Can’t Eat’?” Karon nodded slightly, thinking his idea was great!

”Dad, Dad, that name doesn’t sound good,” the smaller snake baby said softly, ”Could you give us another name?”

”Alright, let me think about it!” Karon, for the first time, reconsidered a decided matter.

As Karon pondered, he tossed the World Tree seed into the soil, letting the Elf Maids cover it.

As soon as it was covered and watered with spring water sourced from the magical spring of the Greenfield Forest Plane, a tender green shoot eagerly emerged from the deeply buried soil.

A tender seedling swayed its leaves in the breeze, sending its request to Karon, ”Dad, I want a name too!”
