Alchemy Master

Chapter 337, An Unspeakable Secret

“How could I not want my Mother to get better?!” Xia Ziyi shouted at Qin Yichen with a red face and neck, appearing quite agitated.

Every day when he returned back home, seeing his Father’s melancholy and his Mother too weak to leave her bed, how could he not feel heartbroken?

His Parents were always so loving, but why was Heaven so unfair? Why could they not just live peacefully together for life!?

Each time he saw his Mother forcing a smile for him and his Father, his heart felt like it was being cut by a knife. That was why he lost control when he heard Qin Yichen’s words.

“Look, perhaps I can help your Mother.” Qin Yichen was not angry at being shouted at; on the contrary, his respect for the Carefree Prince’s Son had increased.

Many people would abandon their Family ties, friendships, and even love for power and other things, but Xia Ziyi’s reaction undoubtedly proved he was someone who valued relationships.

Such people were worthy of being kept as friends.

“You?” Hearing this, Xia Ziyi was stunned, awakening from his anger. He soon looked at Qin Yichen in surprise. After a moment, Xia Ziyi shook his head and said, “Impossible. My Father once invited experts, but even they were clueless about my Mother’s condition.”

The Carefree Prince had already sought out all capable people in the Grand Empire. He had even spent enormous resources to invite experts, but they could not even understand the Carefree Prince’s Wife’s condition, let alone cure it.

The Carefree Prince, the most powerful Prince in the Grand Empire, could only watch helplessly as his beloved grew thinner and her condition gradually worsened, with no way to help her.

“Experts?” Qin Yichen’s lips curved into a proud smile, his entire bearing suddenly changing.

[Experts!? In this world, there were very few who could be called experts before me, I am an Alchemy Saint! I refuse to believe that a mere illness can stump me.]

At this point, Xia Ziyi realised.

The youth before him was no ordinary person!

Though about the same age as himself, just by teaching one Alchemy Technique, he had made Chairman Hai willing to take him in as his Disciple.

This showed how extraordinary that Technique was. Moreover, during these days, Xia Ziyi had personally seen Chairman Hai of Alchemy Central occasionally asking Qin Yichen questions like a student, and whenever he received answers, Chairman Hai would become inexplicably excited.

Furthermore, he was a Human Grade Alchemy Master.

Perhaps there really was hope?

Looking at the proud Qin Yichen, this thought arose in Xia Ziyi’s mind.

“My Mother she…” But as he opened his mouth, he frowned again, hesitating and unwilling to continue.

“Do you have difficulty speaking about it?” Qin Yichen also realised that the Carefree Prince’s Wife’s illness was probably no ordinary ailment.

“I…” Xia Ziyi opened and closed his mouth, finally seeming to gather great courage, closing his eyes and saying, “My Mother’s body is slowly disappearing!”

“Her body is disappearing!?” Qin Yichen was also startled.

He had never heard of an illness where the body slowly disappeared.

Then, through Xia Ziyi’s description, he gradually understood that perhaps the Carefree Prince’s Wife was not sick, but rather had something wrong with her body.

She was fading. Slowly dispersing like an illusion.

This was why the Carefree Prince’s Wife had lived in the Carefree Prince Residence for years, not stepping out once in years.

This was also why later the Carefree Prince never invited people to examine his Wife.

[What kind of illness would make someone slowly disappear!?] Qin Yichen frowned, pacing back and forth in the room, also pondering this question. He had truly never encountered such a situation.

Seeing his long silence, Xia Ziyi grew anxious and asked, “Can you cure my Mother or not?”

“Like a Soul, disappearing with the wind…” Qin Yichen stopped walking, looked at him, and said seriously, “I’m not certain.”

“So you have no way either…” Xia Ziyi collapsed into his seat, looking completely dejected.

“I said I’m not certain, not that I have no way!” Qin Yichen rolled his eyes at him.

“Is there any difference?” Xia Ziyi looked up at him, asking in confusion.

“I’m not certain because I haven’t seen her myself, so I can’t confirm some speculations I have.” Qin Yichen said honestly, then after a pause, continued, “If my guess is not wrong, your Mother’s problem isn’t with her body, but rather… her Soul!”

The Soul was a person’s foundation. Logically, if someone’s Soul had problems, they should have died long ago.

Yet, she had lived for several decades.

This indicated her situation was special.

“Soul?” Xia Ziyi immediately became excited because although the experts invited had been clueless and had not been able to cure her illness, they had also said her illness was not in her body.

If not in the body, then it must be in the Soul!

So these years, the Carefree Prince had been secretly collecting various Spirit Medicines that could nourish the Soul, allowing his Wife to survive until today.

But even with nourishment from Spirit Medicine, his Mother still grew weaker day by day.

“Do you really have a way?” Xia Ziyi excitedly grabbed Qin Yichen’s arm.

“Didn’t I just say I’m not certain yet?” Qin Yichen replied impatiently.

Mainly, he needed to meet her in person to confirm the cause before knowing if he could treat it.

“But my Father doesn’t let any outsiders see my Mother…” Xia Ziyi found Qin Yichen’s request difficult.

“That’s your problem to deal with then.” Qin Yichen sat down comfortably, enjoying Alchemy Central’s finest tea.

If the Carefree Prince could give up the throne and power for that woman, then he could surely do other things for her too. Like, supporting Xia Zilin for the throne!

“I… I can take you to meet my Father, but convincing him to let you see my Mother will be up to you.” Xia Ziyi felt helpless.

If he went to tell his hot-tempered Father that a teenager could cure his Mother’s illness, he would probably get beaten and thrown out.

After all, it sounded too absurd.

“That’s fine!” Qin Yichen certainly understood his difficulty. “Tomorrow, I’ll go meet your Father!”

He still needed to prepare some things. Otherwise, he would definitely be driven out by the Carefree Prince!
