Alchemy Master

Chapter 336, Encouraging the Princess

“What else do you have to say?”

Seeing Qin Yichen’s silence, Xia Zilin grew impatient and asked.

“Princess, have you ever thought about competing for it?” Qin Yichen pondered briefly, looking directly into her eyes.

Actually, he was not entirely confident.

After all, Xia Zilin could now remain a Princess without needing to care about anything else. After all, she now had her own territory. She was no longer a caged bird in the Royal Palace.

Competing for the throne carried great risks.

“Compete?” Xia Zilin was confused at first, but after a moment, she understood.

Soon, the room fell into a deathly silence.

Xia Zilin’s brows were tightly furrowed.

Across from her, Qin Yichen maintained his calm demeanor, as if completely unconcerned with her choice.

“I…” After a long while, Xia Zilin lowered her head, her voice lacking confidence.

Her talent was not inferior to any Prince or Princess, but she was a woman. How could a woman compete for the throne, how could she become the ruler of the Grand Empire!?

There was no precedent for this in the Grand Empire. Moreover, if she were to compete, she would face too many enemies, too many for her to handle.

She had initially wanted to refuse. But now, she understood Qin Yichen’s intention in giving her the Royal Seal.

“Are you worried about something?” Qin Yichen’s light chuckle drew her attention.

“I…” Xia Zilin bit her lower lip, saying nothing.

She had no confidence to compete with those Princes from powerful backgrounds. She currently had nothing – nothing at all.

“Qin Yichen, do you know which Princes are currently competing for the throne?” She felt she needed to remind Qin Yichen.

Currently, if they did not compete, Qin Yichen’s enemy would just be the Li Family. But if they competed for the throne, it would mean offending most of the Grand Empire’s Major Forces.

“Of course I know.” Qin Yichen’s lips curved into a mysterious smile as he reminded her softly, “Have you forgotten about the Carefree Prince’s Son in Chairman Hai’s Alchemy Room?”

“Xia Ziyi?!” Xia Zilin exclaimed softly, then looked at him in disbelief. She had not expected Qin Yichen to set his sights on the uninvolved Carefree Prince.

The Carefree Prince did not interfere in state affairs. This was common knowledge.

Did Qin Yichen think the Carefree Prince would change because of him!?

“Impossible, the Carefree Prince will never step forward to help me…” Xia Zilin shook her head, believing this to be impossible.

“How would you know without trying?” Qin Yichen maintained his composed attitude.

“You…” Xia Zilin looked at him again, her gaze somewhat confused. She found herself increasingly unable to understand this youth, who was only a few years older than her. [How could he speak with such confidence? The Carefree Prince is not someone easily moved. First, he lacked nothing – power and wealth were all his for the taking. I can’t even imagine what method you could possibly use to persuade him.]

“If I can convince the Carefree Prince, would you be willing to compete?” Qin Yichen asked.

If Xia Zilin was unwilling, he would have to find someone else.

His goal was to stop the Li Family.

Xia Zilin fell silent, frowning in thought.

[Do I lack the ambition to do this? No! That’s not it! It is because I cannot be content with my current situation that I took part in the Martial Arts Tournament to gain entry to the Twilight Tower. I can never forget how my own Siblings had treated me! Since childhood, I had to endure constant bullying. And, as a Princess, I don’t even have a single servant! There, I was no different from a servant, mocked for my status!]

Now that Qin Yichen was giving her a chance to trample those people beneath her feet, how could she possibly give up!?

“I’ll compete!” Xia Zilin raised her head, her delicate hand clenched into a fist, her face determined.

[The worst outcome would just be death!  If any other Royal Consorts’ Son became the Crown Prince, my fate would not fare any better anyway.]

“What great ambitions!” At this moment, Qin Yichen’s face finally showed a happy smile.

In this world, the strong ruled!

Although Xia Zilin was a woman, she possessed the Royal Martial Spirit. Just based on this alone, she was actually qualified to compete for the throne.

Perhaps she had not realised it yet, but it was mainly because she had the qualifications to compete for the throne that the other Princes and Princesses ostracised and suppressed her. They wanted to crush her spirit, to get rid of another competitor.

“What do you need me to do?” Although she had agreed, Xia Zilin was still confused about the next step she needed to take.

At this moment, it seemed Qin Yichen had become her pillar of support.

“What you need to do first is to  secure the Black Cloud Region. Leave the rest to me!”

Qin Yichen stood up, opened the window, and looked in a certain direction.

That was where the Carefree Prince Residence was located.

If he could persuade the highly respected Carefree Prince, then this matter would be half settled.

However, Qin Yichen was not entirely confident about dealing with the Carefree Prince.

Still, Qin Yichen had heard some things about the Carefree Prince.

The reason the Carefree Prince had retired and remained uninvolved in other affairs was actually to care for a woman.

That woman was Xia Ziyi’s Mother.

She was the Carefree Prince’s one only true love.

Even heroes fall for beauty, it was just the norm.

The Carefree Prince had given up his claim to the throne to devote himself to loving only her. He had given up incomparable power to care for her fragile health.

For a man to do this much for a woman showed how deeply he loved her.

In the following days, Qin Yichen did not step out of Alchemy Central at all. While guiding Xia Ziyi, he also indirectly inquired about matters concerning the Carefree Prince’s Wife.

“My Mother she…”

Speaking of his Mother, Xia Ziyi’s expression also darkened.

“What’s wrong, is she unwell?” Qin Yichen asked, feigning surprise.

Actually, people in Twilight City knew something about the Carefree Prince’s Wife.

Of course, they could not talk much about it, only knowing that she was frail and sickly, rarely leaving home. Sometimes not even once a year.

Logically, if the Carefree Prince’s Wife had some illness, it should have been cured long ago. Why had she not improved after several decades?

Clearly, this illness was not ordinary.

*Haaaaa…* Thinking of his Mother’s condition, Xia Ziyi hung his head, losing even his interest in refining Pills. “Mother has a strange illness…”

“What exactly is the illness, what are the symptoms?” When Qin Yichen inquired further, Xia Ziyi hesitated and was unwilling to say. After a pause, he continued asking, “Young Master, don’t you want your Mother to get better?”
