Chapter 319, Scavenging

“What’s going on?” Qin Yichen asked in confusion.

“Quickly, just run! I’ll explain later!” Xia Zuling gritted her teeth and swiftly darted away. Qin Yichen frowned, turning his puzzled gaze towards Lin Tianhui.

“Best to just follow her.” Under his black robe, one could not see his expression, but Lin Tianhui pointed at Xia Zuling and calmly spoke.

“Is it that urgent?” Qin Yichen shook his head helplessly, but since even Li Aofeng and his group were so wary, those things must have some terrifying aspects to them. After casting a strange look in the direction Li Aofeng had ran towards, Qin Yichen did not linger any longer and hurriedly chased after Xia Zuling, with Lin Tianhui following closely behind.

*Thud! Thud!* Behind them, those puppets split into two waves, pursuing the two groups of three.

However, moments later, Qin Yichen was shocked to discover that after splitting into two, the number of puppets did not seem to have decreased – if anything, they seemed to be increasing.

“Princess, what are these things?” After catching up with Xia Zuling, the three maintained the same speed, rapidly fleeing into the distance as Qin Yichen asked his question.

“Twilight Puppets, unique to the second floor of the Twilight Tower. It’s strange – according to the Tower’s usual rules, they should only activate on the third day, but this is only the second day, yet they’ve already started.”

“These puppets, each one has the strength of an ordinary Fully Accomplished Spirit Realm expert, and their bodies are incredibly hard. Even with the weaker puppets, it’s difficult for us to leave a mark on them.” Xia Zuling explained while rushing forward. “Do you know why Li Aofeng and the others don’t dare to fly here?”

“Could it be…” Qin Yichen’s pupils contracted as a guess flashed through his mind.

“That’s right, among the Twilight Puppets, there are some at the Martial King Realm. Appearing in the air makes it easier to attract their attention.” Xia Zuling nodded and gravely said.

“If it is as you say, their bodies are that hard, then wouldn’t it be the case that no one is able to contend with any Martial King Realm Twilight Puppet?” Qin Yichen frowned and asked.

In that case, was the second floor not clearly a trap? Under thirty years old – who in this Grand Empire could contend with Martial King Realm Twilight Puppets?

“It’s not that no one can contend with them. According to records in the Royal Family, two people have defeated Martial King Twilight Puppets…”

Seemingly afraid Qin Yichen would immediately crush his Life Token to escape, Xia Zuling hurriedly explained. “But, as long as you don’t fly in the air or enter certain places, Martial King Realm Twilight Puppets are still very rare.”

“Certain places? What kind of place?” Qin Yichen’s eyes narrowed.

“The first floor’s Demonic Beasts guarded spirit medicine, while on the second floor, Martial King Realm Twilight Puppets have simply replaced the function of those Demonic Beasts. Similarly, there seem to be many precious items on the second floor.”

Though constantly suppressed within the Royal Family, Xia Zuling had clearly very thoroughly investigated the Twilight Tower.

“Well, with Martial King Realm Twilight Puppets guarding, no matter how confident I am, I don’t have the courage to challenge them.” Qin Yichen shook his head, then asked. “So what do we do next? Just keep running like this?”

“Shake them off.” Though these puppets were troublesome, their sentience was still lacking. Xia Zuling paused, seeming to realise under Qin Yichen’s gaze that he had seen through her thoughts.

After hesitating for a moment, Xia Zuling sighed and said: “That’s right, I know there’s something good here, and its value is no less than the Jade Clear Ice Soul Spirit Herb.”

“Thank you for leading the way, Princess. Don’t worry, I’m not one to hog everything for myself.”

Qin Yichen smiled. It was as he had expected. Xia Zuling must have some special channels for obtaining information. Like on the first floor, she had been able to lurk for a long time before stealing the Jade Clear Ice Soul Spirit Herb, and this second floor must also have extremely good treasures.

“We might not even be able to get it, where does your confidence come from?” Xia Zuling grumbled, but her movement did not pause as she increased her speed again, rushing urgently in a certain direction.

Regarding the Twilight Tower, Xia Zuling seemed to have a map in her mind, quickly threading through it. At full speed, the three of them soon shook off the increasingly numerous Twilight Puppets behind them.

Under Xia Zuling’s guidance, over half a day, they searched several seemingly large caves. However, to their disappointment, they found nothing in those caves. Just traces showiong others had already scavenged there. During this time, they were chased by groups of Twilight Puppets twice.

After traveling for a long time more, Xia Zuling’s footsteps stopped again before another cave.

This cave was like a huge hall, with two massive iron doors covered in rust, recording countless years of history.

“This one too…” Xia Zuling’s gaze swept around before stopping before this huge cave, though her voice now lacked its previous confidence.

Compared to the other caves, this one was undoubtedly several times larger, and with its two huge iron doors, it looked like a giant beast.

“Let’s go in.” After scanning with his Spiritual Energy and detecting nothing unusual, Qin Yichen shrugged and took the lead towards the huge cave.

After entering, Qin Yichen’s gaze swept across the massive cave. On the ground were piles of white bones and various miscellaneous traces – clearly, others had been here before.

“Another empty one…” Qin Yichen shook his head helplessly, heading out with resignation.

*Hmm?* Just as Qin Yichen was about to step out the door, his footsteps suddenly paused. Looking up, he saw on the side of the cave’s ceiling, a small tree about one meter tall. On that tree, he could vaguely see several green fruits.

“Green Jade Spirit Fruits?” Qin Yichen’s eyes lit up, and Xia Zuling and Lin Tianhui also noticed.

“At least it wasn’t a complete waste.” Qin Yichen walked up slowly, smiling slightly, extending his hand to pluck the fruits from the small tree.

*Boom!* However, just as his hand was about to touch the fruits, from a dark corner of the cave’s ceiling, extremely fierce winds suddenly swept down, angrily bombarding towards Qin Yichen.

“Be careful!” Seeing this from below, Xia Zuling could not help but cry out.

“Hmm?” Qin Yichen reacted extremely quickly, twisting his body and throwing a punch at the fierce wind while he rapidly retreated.
