Alchemy Master

Chapter 331, Poor Child

Translator: Silavin

Refining a Compound Pill was just a small matter for Qin Yichen.

He sighed helplessly, knowing that if he did not make one for this old man, he would not believe him.

However, while Qin Yichen was searching for medicinal herbs on the medicine shelf, after looking through everything, he could not find the most important ingredient for the Compound Pill… Withered Frost Grass.

In this era, it was a medicinal herb that had no uses. Thus, it was treated like a common weed.

Alchemy Central Chairman’s personal Alchemy Room naturally would not have such a useless thing.

Qin Yichen was embarrassed.

Without Withered Frost Grass, even he could not do anything about making the Compound Pill.

“Um… Chairman Hai, do you happen to have any Withered Frost Grass?”  He carefully asked the old man.

The later people learned about Withered Frost Grass, the better. The later they knew about it, the safer the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty would be.

He did not want the current Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty to become the contested territory of his past life.

Qin Yichen currently did not have the ability to protect the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty yet.

“Withered Frost Grass?” The old man looked at him, puzzled. He soon shook his head, “What do you need Withered Frost Grass for?”

Strictly speaking, Withered Frost Grass was not considered a medicinal herb because it had no actual medicinal effects. It only served as a neutralising agent.

“You need Withered Frost Grass to refine a Compound Pill!?” Suddenly, he seemed to realise something, having an epiphany.

“Heh heh.” Qin Yichen could only smile bitterly.

How could someone of the Chairman’s level not see through the key point?

The most crucial part of combining two different medicinal properties into one was neutralisation, making them stabilise.

Actually, people had proposed this concept before, but no one had ever succeeded, so it was eventually abandoned.

“Impossible…” The old man’s brows furrowed tightly as he paced back and forth in the Alchemy Room.

It was not that he had not tried. In fact, one could say that every Alchemy Master had tried, but the outcome was always the same.

Suddenly, he stopped and walked toward the door.

At the door, that young man had been waiting for the moment Qin Yichen would be thrown out. When the door opened, he burst out laughing, “Haha, ignorant kid, learned your lesson now…?”

Inside, hearing this voice, Qin Yichen could not help but mourn for him. Though, only for three seconds.

The old man was even more stunned by his laughter. His aged face clearly showed three words… ‘This bloody idiot!’

“Have you gone mad?” The old man’s words finally woke the young man up. Seeing it was the Chairman who came out, he was immediately dumbfounded. Then, he saw Qin Yichen inside giving him a ‘kind’ smile, which made his mouth violently twitch.

At this moment, he truly wanted to slap himself several times.

His identity was not simple – he was considered Royalty, and even held the title of Young Master. His Father, seeing his Alchemy talent, had spent great effort to send him to Alchemy Central, to be an Alchemist Assistant under Chairman Hai. His Father had hoped that one day, he could become Chairman Hai’s Disciple.

Now… it seemed all that had gone to waste.

“Go get me one kilogram of Withered Frost Grass.” Seeing no one else was at the door, the old man frowned slightly, then ordered him in an impatient tone.

“Okay…” The young man responded listlessly, then dragged himself downstairs.

Soon, he brought back the Withered Frost Grass, but was mercilessly shut out, unable to even enter the door.

*Sniffle.* The young man was on the verge of tears as he sat down against the wall next to the door.

…

Inside, with the Withered Frost Grass obtained, Qin Yichen began refining the Pill.

Quickly, from some small details, the old man began to look at him with newfound respect, especially Qin Yichen’s Palm Technique while refining Pills.

It was too smooth.

Although it seemed somewhat messy and without pattern, every palm strike, every pat, every tap was perfectly executed.

While the old man was still absorbed in those Palm Techniques, Qin Yichen took out a Pill from the Pill Furnace and presented it to him.

“So fast?”

The old man was startled but took the Pill without hesitation.

“So, it’s actually true…” After a moment, he opened his eyes, his words full of disbelief.

Looking at the teenager who was only in his teens, he found himself speechless. Any words to describe his current feelings were too inadequate.

“I hope the Chairman can keep this a secret for now.” Qin Yichen showed no pride, instead smiling bitterly as he spoke.

“Right, the Withered Frost Grass!” The old man suddenly realised, becoming excited at this moment.

He now understood the value of Withered Frost Grass! He could imagine what the value of Withered Frost Grass, the key ingredient, would become when the recipe for Compound Pills became mainstream.

However, the old man quickly calmed down and looked at Qin Yichen, “You mean…”

He could not understand why Qin Yichen would not want to make the Compound Pill Formula public. [Did he not know how much of an impact the Compound Pill will have on the World of Alchemy? This is not just about a single Clear Mind Pill. It represented the birth of a whole new era!]

“I understand. I’ll pretend I know nothing about the Withered Frost Grass.” Although Qin Yichen had not explained any further, Chairman Hai solemnly made his promise.

Afterwards, the two talked for a long time.

Watching the old man maintain a learning attitude toward Qin Yichen, Lin Tianhui’s heart was quite moved.

His guess was correct.

Qin Yichen was truly extraordinary.

If even Qin Yichen could not solve the hidden danger in his body, he felt no one in the world could do it.

At least, he knew this old man definitely could not do it.

Finally, it was Lin Tianhui who suggested taking Qin Yichen to rest, ending their conversation.

Chairman Hai was clearly dissatisfied but could not bring himself to scold Lin Tianhui.

Qin Yichen was also somewhat tired. After all, he had just come from the Twilight Tower.

In the Twilight Tower, he had not rested for even a moment. He was always in an extremely tense state.

After the two walked out the door, they saw the young man sitting against the wall.

“Oh?” Qin Yichen gave him a casual glance, but upon seeing the Jade Pendant worn at the young man’s waist, he stopped and walked toward him.

[This Jade Pendant is not something just anyone could wear. It should belong to a very powerful Prince of the Grand Empire.] Qin Yichen had seen it before, so he recognised it.

“Do you want Chairman Hai to take you in as his Disciple?” Qin Yichen stopped and looked at him ‘kindly’, asking gently. His expression made Lin Tianhui, who was not far away, shudder.

He had personally seen Qin Yichen use this same smile when dealing with Xia Zilin.

Immediately, he could not help but sigh for the young man. [Oh poor child, accept your fate.]
