Chapter 696: Chapter 275: Wizard Rein (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)

Holding the gold-inlaid book, Alex immediately released two faint green streams of air at Langgeler and Flay, who were charging at the front with sword and shield in hand.

As the pale green airflow entwined around Langgeler’s legs, it was apparent that he, clad in heavy knight armor, became significantly lighter on his feet, increasing his speed by at least ten to twenty percent.

The enhancement effect of the pale green air on Flay was even stronger.

Flay, dressed in leather armor, could now be said to move with remarkable agility, quickly overtaking Langgeler, who had been running ahead of him.

The two headed towards the direction of Rein’s battle, and by comparison, Alex was a few steps behind them.

Meanwhile, the members of the Earth Shaker Bear squad from Holdan’s team also reacted swiftly, already rushing out of the room.

But just as they were about to rush forward, they were stopped by Alex.

“Everyone, since there is only one opponent, I believe with Viscount Rein and our captain engaging, that should be more than sufficient,”

“To prevent the enemy from staging a diversion, I suggest you all immediately ensure the safety of the important individuals here,”

Upon hearing this, the members of the Earth Shaker Bear squad exchanged a quick glance and nodded slightly.

It was undeniable that what this sword bearer from Nome Province said made a lot of sense.

If Viscount Rein and their formidable captain couldn’t subdue the enemy, their presence would be just a numbers game without much significance.

Moreover, if the enemy really was creating a diversion and they all rashly pursued, such an action would be foolish.

After all, their primary mission was to secure the safety of Earl Habs Mansion, which had been explicitly confirmed during the afternoon meeting.

Thinking of this, the group promptly halted their advance.

At that moment, half-dressed in hastily donned partial armor with her hair still wet, Alexandra wielding a hammer and shield, dashed out.

Having just heard Alex’s words, she glanced at her companions, saying, “You stay. I’ll go take a look.”

After speaking, she quickly headed in the direction of Rein’s battle with long strides.

This left her Earth Shaker Bear squadmates looking at each other in dismay, wanting to say, ‘Alexandra, aren’t you part of the Earth Shaker Bear squad? Our task is to protect the mansion.’

But the words choked in their throats, and by then, Alexandra’s figure had already vanished into the distance.

…

At this moment, the battle location of Rein and Holdan had moved from the gates of Earl Habs Mansion onto the street, leaving the ground along the way riddled with holes of various sizes.

The elegant iron filigree gates at the Count Mansion’s entrance were now twisted and lay distorted on one side.

The guards were unable to lend assistance despite being eager–they couldn’t keep up, and even if they could, they weren’t of much help, not being Great Knights and unable to partake in combat at such a level.

…

Holdan’s black cloak had long been torn, revealing swathes of skin resembling snake scales.

This was a secret technique of the Secret Snake Sect to enhance close combat, but even so, he was having a tough time withstanding Rein’s attacks.

Although the information provided by the Black Flame Church was utter garbage, one point wasn’t misleading–Rein was exceptionally adept at close combat.

Holdan kept fighting even as he retreated at high speed.

But he realized that Rein’s dog was infuriatingly troublesome!

Every time he vanished into the shadows of the streets, the dog sniffed him out, much to Holdan’s aggravation.

At present, the battle situation between him and Rein was at a stalemate, but Rein’s reinforcements were rapidly approaching his position.

It wouldn’t take more than ten seconds for them to join the fight.

The situation would then turn grim!

“However, this Rein,”

“Does he think he has me at his mercy?!”

Seeing that he was at least a few hundred meters away from the others, Holdan gritted his teeth; he decided to use his trump card and try his luck!

It might just turn the tide.

Even if it didn’t, he could take advantage of the chaos of his final move to withdraw gracefully!

Otherwise, the current situation was too unfavorable for him.

“Great Serpent of Devouring, please heed your servant’s…” Holdan spoke solemnly as he sprinted.

The next second, a massive black mist enveloped him, and the black fog billowed outwards.

This caused Rein to immediately halt in his tracks to avoid charging headlong into the suddenly appearing black fog.

In an instant, a massive black snake with a head larger than a millstone burst out of the fog, rising at least two or three floors high while the diameter of its body was no less than one and a half meters.

A pair of large amber vertical pupils fixed on Rein, emitting intense pressure that instantly covered the entire area!

Fortunately, Rein, as a fully qualified wizard with a spiritual power surpassing fifty points, recovered his senses immediately after momentarily tensing up in the face of the sudden pressure.

And in that instant, the opponent opened its giant maw and lunged down viciously at Rein!

The way it looked, even a sturdy warhorse would be likely swallowed whole!

Facing the ferocious attack of the giant black snake, Rein, unsure if the adversary was an illusion, an energy form, or a real entity, prudently transformed his two-handed warhammer into a tower shield to protect himself.

Seeing the suddenly appearing massive upright black snake in mid-air,

Langgeler, who was closing the distance rapidly from behind, had his expression drastically change as he exclaimed in shock,

“That’s the Serpent Transmutation Sorcery of the Secret Snake Sect! A secret technique usually mastered only by the high priests.”
