Chapter 682: Chapter 271 Defense (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_3

“Right, Rein, once I’ve made my breakthrough, when we spar again, I believe that your Arcadian Swordsmanship will improve even faster.”

“Uh… Thank you.” Rein was taken aback and said.

….

At Earl Habbs Mansion, the training ground.

Most of the family Knights and guards had been gathered here.

“This is Baron Rein, who will now take over the entire Count Mansion’s security defense work,”

“Everyone must follow Baron Rein’s arrangements just as you would follow my own.”

….

After Cleya made her announcement, she proceeded to the secret chamber.

Meanwhile, Rein nodded slightly to the crowd before him, affirming the decision in his heart.

The defensive personnel of Earl Habbs Mansion were numerous.

In terms of Strength, they were also formidable, being long-trained family Knights and guards.

If it were to defend against attacks beneath the level of a Great Knight, it could be said that there were hardly any problems.

However, if they encountered a seasoned Great Knight or an assault by several Great Knights, the entire defensive force would be insufficient.

And that was without even considering the presence of an Evil Sorcerer.

Of course, the magical church had also arranged many formations around the Count Mansion, but overall, without the manipulation of senior church officials, these formations could mostly only serve a warning function.

Moreover, there was also the possibility of enemy collaborators inside the mansion.

If a collaborator were to cause even slight sabotage, the effectiveness of these formations would be a big question mark.

A fortress is always more vulnerable to being breached from within.

When Rein began to assign defense tasks, many of the guards at the Count Mansion were quite surprised.

For they found that their colleagues who had gone to meet Lady Cleya seemed to have great trust in this young Baron Rein.

Essentially, they carried out whatever he commanded without question, with meticulous execution.

This made many others wonder.

“Hey, why are you so obedient to this young Baron Rein?”

“Yeah, being a Baron isn’t that big of a deal, is it?”

“Do you really think we respect him just because of Lord Rein’s noble title?”

“You don’t know how strong Lord Rein is? Haven’t you seen Viscount Seriel there, carrying out all of Baron Rein’s orders without error?”

“Right! Why is the Viscount so obedient too?”

The Chief Maid, Shadia, with her keen ears, naturally overheard the guards’ discussion and immediately interjected:

“Do not question or execute with reluctance the orders of Lord Rein!”

“Moreover, to correct something, Lord Rein is not just a Baron, he has already been promoted to Viscount; it’s just that the formal appointment has not yet come.”

What?

A Viscount?

So young and already a Viscount?

A few guards showed a look of astonishment.

After some investigation, they began to understand just how formidable the young Lord Rein really was.

…

In the study.

Rein was talking to a stranger, a young man.

“You are the Rein charged with protecting Earl Habbs? I’ve heard about you; you have a nickname ‘Meister Siege Hammer’!” said the young man in robes with a smile.

“Yes, may I ask who you are?”

“I’m Stuart from the same Sword Bearers Branch as you in Mingster, belonging to the Hurricane Squad, and currently stationed at the Count Mansion,”

“Actually, our main mission is to ensure the security of the transportation route from Fishing Port Town to County Town. Because the airships have limited capacity, most of the supply materials need to be transported by road.”

“Now the black flame Cult is significantly disrupting the transportation line, and since you’re here, I’ll be returning to my own squad.”

Rein nodded.

He understood, given that their mission was to protect the transportation routes’ security, and considering the overall stability, that’s why they had been stationed at Earl Habbs Mansion.

Now that he had arrived, it was normal for them to step aside.

“By the way, Rein, did you come by yourself this time? Where are the other members of your squad?” asked Stuart, about to leave, when suddenly something occurred to him and he asked with a hint of surprise.

“Eh… Right now, it’s just me,”

Hearing Rein’s answer, Stuart gave him a surprised look and said:

“Then your mission will be very difficult to complete. The black flame Cult has strengthened its activities around Meister and they have several experts.”

“If you are alone, I advise you to give up this mission sooner rather than later and let another squad with full personnel take over.”

“This would be more prudent for you, for us, and for the overall situation.”

Rein nodded; the other man meant well, so he couldn’t say much in reply.

“I’ll be careful; it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Giving up was out of the question!

Don’t forget, he had accepted two other gold-level missions, both more difficult than protecting Earl Habbs.

What’s more, the sorry state of Flashgold Town and the turmoil in Meister were pressing on his mind.

He needed someone to bear the brunt of his anger.

The black flame Cult, as the instigators, was naturally the best target!

Seeing that Rein seemed to be heeding no advice, Stuart couldn’t help but shake his head and take his leave.

Shortly after Stuart left, a guard came to report:

“Lord Rein, a messenger from the Sword Bearers Branch of Mingster requests an audience at the door, claiming to have important matters to report to you.”

Hmm?

Rein raised an eyebrow and said, “Bring him in quickly!”

Soon, Rein met with the messenger from the Sword Bearers Branch in the study, a robust man dressed in leather armor.
