Chapter 679: Chapter 270: Sword Blade Storm! (Double-Length Chapter)_4

Because the team had just been attacked and, moreover, to temporarily avoid being discovered by Cleya, Lord Reine had no intention of practicing his new secret technique “Sword Blade Storm” at this time.

However, by doing so, he was unable to assess the power of this technique.

But one thing was clear.

With the mastery of both “Sword Blade Storm” and “Roaring Battle Cry,’ Reine could confidently say that he was no longer afraid of group battles at this stage!

…

It was dawn.

Reine and his group began their journey, continuing towards Meist County City.

After a while, they had left the region of Wells County and entered Meist County. At this moment, inside the carriage compartment, Reine, looking out the window, suddenly turned to Cleya and said,

“Lady Creya, I would like to make a trip back to Flashgold Town…just to check on the situation before leaving.”

Flashgold Town?

Upon hearing this familiar name, Cleya, seemingly understanding, showed no hint of refusal, and nodded, “Of course, we can turn at the junction up ahead toward Flashgold Town.”

Why choose to go now?

Reine’s main concern was that once they arrived at the County Town, he would also have the duty to protect Count Habbs, and it might be somewhat difficult to find time to visit Flashgold Town then.

Moreover, ever since he received a letter from his childhood friend George, Reine had been constantly concerned about Flashgold Town.

Taking a detour to Flashgold Town from here was just a slight deviation and would approximately take an extra two or three hours. The estimated time of arrival at the County Town would be around evening.

Overall, it wouldn’t delay any significant matters.

“Thank you, Lady Creya.”

“Reine, actually, I was also thinking of visiting the Habsburg Estate nearby,” Creya said with a smile.

The Chief Maid Shadia glanced at Reine.

Flashgold Town…the place where the young Lord Reine was born and raised.

Moreover, Shadia herself had spent several years as the Chief Maid at the Habsburg Estate near Flashgold Town, so she naturally had an emotional attachment to the town as well.

She too wanted to see how Flashgold Town was faring after the attack.

As the caravan slowly made its way into Flashgold Town, theoretically, the entry of such a large group should have immediately stirred up the townspeople, with curious children running out to watch with wide eyes.

But what reached their ears was silence, and what met their eyes were many collapsed houses.

It was nothing like the bustling scenes from Reine’s memories.

On the streets, there was hardly anyone, let alone children running about.

The town had transformed from the lively place Reine knew into a nearly deserted ghost town.

Reine was not a man to lament over seasonal changes or pity the fall of things, but seeing this scene struck his heart deeply!

Reine’s expression was as somber as still water, and his heart was tumultuous!

Damn!

Fucking cult!

Although the Dragan Empire had various shortcomings, including what Reine saw as a very backward system,

regardless, the empire at least provided ordinary people with the chance to survive, and occasionally allowed the lower classes a bit of happiness amidst their hard lives.

In contrast, what these cults had done was utterly inhumane!

Upon seeing this scene, Shadia covered her mouth with both hands, her eyes wide, and her whole eye rim turned red.

When she was the Chief Maid of the estate, she had often come to Flashgold Town to buy various items.

But now, it seemed she would never see familiar faces again; the shops she frequented were all closed.

Cleya, on the other hand, was not very familiar with Flashgold Town; her visits to Flashgold Town had also been brief stays at the nearby Habsburg Estate.

However…

Seeing a town under her family’s effective control turn so desolate still profoundly moved her.

“Let’s go, Lady Creya,” said Reine gravely.

“Yes, Reine, after we eradicate the cult, we can rebuild the town,” Creya said, trying to console Reine.

“Thank you,” Reine nodded, not saying much.

For a moment, the atmosphere inside the carriage was somewhat somber.
