Chapter 661: Chapter 266 Breaking Evil (Two in One Mega Chapter)_2

On it was written, “The troops have encamped, located between Colma Town and Ez Town….”

Just as expected!

Rein’s eyes flickered with thought, aligning with his earlier speculation.

Clearly, there must be an inside spy among the troops, for had the communication been from our side, it wouldn’t be so frequent nor phrased in such a manner.

Soon, Rein had found Cleya inside the carriage, holding the note.

“Lady Cleya, I think you need to take a look at this,” Rein said as he passed the note to Cleya.

With just one glance, Cleya’s pretty face turned serious, “This isn’t the way we communicate with our family, Lord Rein. It seems like there is an enemy’s inside spy among us.”

“Yes, that’s what I believe too.”

Cleya’s brows creased lightly as she said, “It’s just that we don’t know who the spy is working for. Lord Rein, do you think we can find out who it is?”

After a moment of thought, Rein nodded, “It shouldn’t be a problem.”

The two stepped out of the carriage, and Rein called out, “Cookie!” Soon, the spirit hound the size of a small pony rushed over, wagging its tail at Rein with an excited demeanor.

Rein brought the small bamboo tube to Cookie’s nose for a sniff.

“Cookie, find the owner of this bamboo tube.”

Starting from the people closest to it, Cookie sniffed each one quickly and began searching around before soon barking furiously at a somewhat panicked Cavalryman near a campfire not far away!

“Lady Cleya, it seems we’ve found our spy,” Rein said with a smirk, turning to speak to Cleya beside him.

Butler Yodel quickly recognized the Cavalryman as someone he had brought from Meister.

“Xiaomaoqi, why would you do such a thing!”

“Lady Cleya, I am sorry…” Butler Yodel said, both furious and self-reproaching.

This let Viscount Seriel heave a great sigh of relief beside them!

Fortunately, the spy, or rather, the mole, was not from his own team. Otherwise, it would have been tough for him to clear his name this time.

“Speak up! Who are you serving?” demanded Viscount Seriel, stepping forward.

The spy, known as Xiaomaoqi, wept bitterly, “My lord, I really don’t know who I serve. I only knew that I would receive a generous reward by reporting the condition and the exact journey of the troops.”

“Please forgive me, Lady Cleya…”

“It looks like we have been marked by a hostile force. Rein, who do you think it could be?” Cleya asked, not addressing the traitor but instead turning to question Rein.

“I think I might know who it is,” Rein said, thinking it over.

“Black Flame Cult,” they both said almost simultaneously.

For if the enemy were political adversaries of the Habus family, they would never choose this moment to risk the wrath of the Imperial upper echelons by attacking a member of the Habus family engaged in battle with the Cult.

Eliminating the option of political enemies, it was highly likely that their enemy was the Cult this time.

Considering that the Sea God Sect was mainly fighting against the Imperial Navy along the coastline, it was reasonable to believe, or most likely, it was the Black Flame Cult that had seriously injured Count Habbs and was planning to destabilize the Imperial control over the county of Meister.

The three immediately returned to the carriage compartment to discuss the matter.

“Lady Cleya, do we need to break camp and evade immediately?” Viscount Seriel also realized the severity of the situation and asked.

His question made Cleya fall into contemplation.

“Send someone nearby to scout immediately,” she said.

“The fog is rising around us, and it’s getting thicker,” Rein suddenly mentioned.

Indeed, Cleya and Viscount Seriel pulled open the curtain on the carriage window and saw that, as night fell, a faint mist had begun to rise around them.

Rein had just used his core skill ‘Beast Eye’ to scout the surroundings in the vision of a Blood Feathered creature from high above, but unfortunately, due to the fog, he could hardly see the ground situation from a hundred meters up in the night sky.

After all, even with the excellent vision of a Blood Feathered Horned Eagle, one cannot see through fog.

Seeing the fog getting thicker, Cleya’s expression turned solemn, “It might be too late, Viscount Seriel. The fog is thickening too fast! Tell everyone to heighten their alert, the enemy might have already reached nearby.”

“Ah, they should have arrived already,” Rein remarked, eyebrows raised.

“Hmm?” Cleya and Viscount Seriel both looked toward Rein.

“Prepare for battle!” Rein was the first to step down from the carriage.

Next second!

Screams erupted from all around them.

Immediately, Cleya and Viscount Seriel also got off the carriage following Rein.

“Regroup towards the carriages!”

“Form up in defense formation!” Cleya commanded sharply.

As a student of the Imperial Royal Academy and daughter of an Earl of the Empire, Cleya had been trained in battle formations from a young age and immediately took command.

Hearing Cleya’s voice, the Knights and Cavalry around them all felt much more secure.

Everyone swiftly gathered toward the carriages, with shield-bearing Cavalry at the front spontaneously forming a circular defense. Inside the circle were those holding bows or Crossbow Arrows, with Viscount Seriel, Rein, and a few others at the very center.

Facing the rapidly formed defensive formation,

more than a hundred Cultist recruits nearby, although unable to discern details from afar, could make out the general outline of the battle formation and knew that a head-on charge would result in significant losses.
