Chapter 856: Quest(End)

Thud!

As the Ratman pounced, while the middle-aged man slashed, something came flying toward the Ratman and knocked it backward.

The middle-aged man looked since it was a Ratman thrown at the Ratman. When the man turned to look in the direction of the thrower, he found it was none other than the man who had crazily charged, forcing their plan to halt.

The middle-aged man found himself trembling in anger as he saw the man in a terrible situation. Numerous bitten wounds were spread across the manʼs body.

The man had an apologizing smile as he lip-synced something and then crashed to the ground, becoming the first casualty of the group.

It wasnʼt tough for the middle-aged man to understand what the man had said.

”When you return alive, tell my mother: I am sorry for yesterdayʼs argument.”

The middle-aged man felt his entire body trembling in rage and hatred. His grip on his sword became so tight that it began to hurt him. As if the pain didnʼt affect him, the middle-aged man charged toward the manʼs corpse.

Several Ratmen were tearing the corpse apart as they wanted to vent their anger. The middle-aged man randomly slashed, and with each slash, one or two Ratman got split.

The battle became gorier with each passing second while the group began to grow slow in their movements.

A Ratman came pouncing at the middle-aged man. The middle-aged man had grown completely insane due to rage, so he didnʼt care about the Ratman and slashed at another one.

The Ratman had a winning smile on its face as it could see itself biting the manʼs damn head off the next moment when it suddenly sensed extreme danger to its life.

As soon as the sense of danger arrived, the world around the Ratman became dark, while a bloody rain poured on the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man regained some of his sanity back as a large quantity of blood poured over him.

What the middle-aged man saw next sent chills down his spine. All the Ratmen around him had turned into blood clouds. What made the man frightened was the cause of all of this.

A twig that could be broken even if only a slight pressure was added was turning the Ratmen into a blood cloud.

”WHO DARES?”

Suddenly, the stars shining in the sky disappeared as complete darkness engulfed the camp. At the same time, a voice filled with nothing but cruelty rang in the area.

The group of soldiers fighting across the camps and on the battlefield couldnʼt help but stop in their actions.

”D-de-demo-demonic cr-creature!” The middle-aged man trembled as he shouted in fear. It took him a while to even complete the word.

The humans and the beastmen were only mortals. They were unable to manipulate energy, but they knew about the world of energy users.

The beasts that could use energy were titled by them as demonic creatures. Their existence had been recorded in the history of the city. Whenever a demonic creature would appear, the population would at least dwindle by half.

The group of soldiers wasnʼt the only ones to stop in fright, but the beastmen were the same.

Aakeshʼs face turned grave as he sensed the birth of several auras hidden earlier.

Time passed, and in no time, the number of demonic creatures had grown to outnumber the combined number of humans and beastmen.

Even Aakesh felt worried as the level of the creatures also began to grow exponentially. In less than a second, a Level 10 creature had grown to Level 50.

Aakeshʼs level was Level 295, and Aakesh found several of the beasts with similar levels to him. Aakesh also found a few beasts with higher levels than him.

Aakeshʼs face turned solemn when he saw a Level 300 beast in the middle of the beast group. Aakesh wasnʼt sure whether he could fight with a Level 300 beast or not since his level had only increased today, and he was still to check how much his strength had grown after an increase of ten units in strength and agility.

As Aakesh was looking at the Level 300 beast, it was also looking at Aakesh. The Level 300 beast in question was a boar with diamond-like horns, and its tail had lengthy dark spikes at the tip: they seemed to create a burning sound whenever it touched the ground.

Time flew by, and the battle between Aakesh and the boar began.

For Aakesh to succeed in the quest, not even one of the ten candidates could die. The system clearly stated that these people would fight in the front, but that was before Aakeshʼs interference.

There were no rules once Aakesh intervened. It didnʼt matter what Aakesh did, but none of the ten could die.

At the same time, the Level 300 boar took all of Aakeshʼs attention, so it was difficult for Aakesh to focus on the ten candidates. Even his life was at stake here, let alone that of those ten candidates.

To solve the conundrum, Aakesh used the others as a shield for the ten candidates. The plan seemed to work in the early phases, but the number of beasts was too high to depend on that.

Aakesh had no choice other than to direct some of his attention toward the ten candidates, putting his life in danger.

The boar turned crazier the longer Aakesh survived, so numerous injuries had spread across Aakeshʼs body.

The difficulty level of the ten candidatesʼ survival had almost become impossible at that time, but Aakesh didnʼt regret his interference. If not for his interference, the middle-aged man would have died due to his recklessness.

The injuries on Aakeshʼs body grew while the candidatesʼ situation got precarious. A terrible situation had risen as one of the candidates was on the verge of getting bitten in half. At that time, Aakesh had taken a direct hit from the boar, resulting in a hole in his stomach to defend the candidate. Aakeshʼs effort succeeded, but the injury was catastrophic.

Aakesh seemed to see no end to the battle, as the difficulty was only growing. Aakesh had been slightly conservative as his energy units were depleting at an unprecedented rate. Since the battle only seemed to become more difficult, Aakesh decided to go all the way in and used half of his remaining energy stocks in the next attack.

It was one of the many skills Aakesh had gained in the Panagea over these thousand years. Since the skill Apocalyptic Blast was nerfed in Panagea due to its high-level destruction, it wasnʼt Aakeshʼs strongest skill in Panagea.

The next moment, a beam began to rise on the tip of his sword. Every slash made by Aakesh would result in a flash attack after that.

After two-thirds of the remaining energy was spent on the attack, the boar was finally killed.

After the death of the boar, the difficulty was reduced severalfold as Aakesh succeeded in not letting any of the ten die until the end.
