Chapter 855: Quest(1)

The war began with a bang, as when the army from the city was marching, they suddenly found the army of Beastmen waiting for them.

The weapons clashed, heads got cut, bodies got split, blood dyed the ground, and the battle began.

The group of fifty best soldiers from the city got another mission, and they silently entered the Beastmenʼs stronghold.

The Beastmen lived in a group with five kinds of species, making their group bigger and having a larger pool of talent for their army.

Of the five groups, the weakest was the Ratmen when it came to solo battles, but their combined numbers were around one-third of the Beastmen, so they had the highest voice in the group. They were the primary reason for attacking the city. The Ratmen multiplied at an unprecedented rate, so their demands for resources were high.

Since the groups had to live in harmony, or their strength would end up decreasing, the ratmen had no other choice but to set their sights on the city people. As for the other four groups, they accepted since conquering the city would also benefit them.

The fifty soldiers separated themselves into five groups of ten to increase their chances of assassinating the higher-ups while decreasing their rate of failure.

The middle-aged man was in the group chosen to assassinate the higher-ups of the Ratmen.

This group faced the maximum difficulty due to the number of Ratmen that were still in the camp. The others knew it as well, so they decided to join the group once they had completed their respective missions. If they failed, then there was nothing to worry about since they would be dead.

The middle-aged man remembered his wife and two children as he followed the other to the Ratmenʼs camp.

Aakesh had an expressionless face as he silently looked at the scenes going on in front of him. The middle-aged man was the one most likely to die out of the ten chosen candidates, so he had followed him.

After reaching here, he found that the chances of the middle-aged man dying had grown even further since he was in the most difficult group. Aakesh got ready to intervene at any time as he silently watched the scene play out.

The group of ten soldiers succeeded in entering the Ratmenʼs camp without alerting anyone. Everyoneʼs faces were covered in disgust as they observed the pile of trash and excrement spread throughout the area.

Ignoring the disgusting smell, they silently continued toward the main camp.

Thins had a habit of going against the plan, and the same happened with the group. One of the Ratman found their traces, but fortunately, the group found them before anything troubling could occur.

The group silenced the Ratman before it could inform others about their arrival. The weakness of the Ratmen benefited the group in this situation as the middle-aged man accomplished the killing alone in less than a second.

After a while of passing through disgusting smells, the group finally reached the main camp. Their faces were tense, as it wasnʼt easy. They had faced dozens of battles during that time.

Since they needed to end the battle before others could find it, the group couldnʼt save or hide their strength. They were at their full power all the time, and it had taken a toll on them both physically and mentally. When they finally reached the time, their eyes looked tired.

But since giving up wasnʼt an option here, forcing themselves to go over the limit, the group silently charged into the camp.

The smell turned even more disgusting as they entered the main camp. The groupʼs eyes turned red from anger as they could see their fellow peopleʼs sullied corpses.

One in the group finally lost it as he crazily charged inside. Othersʼ faces turned pale as they couldnʼt silently kill anymore. At the same time, they also felt the same as their fellow groupmate who had crazily charged.

The middle-aged manʼs face turned ugly, as he never expected the scene to play out like this. It was his family that he wanted to return to, but now his life was in danger because of a fool.

The main camp turned chaotic in no time after the groupʼs arrival became known. It was easy to defeat the Ratman one-on-one, but their numbers were enough to overwhelm anyone.

The middle-aged man was a sword user, so he crazily cut the Ratman. In no time, the few square feet of the area around the man had turned into a no go zone for the Ratman.

The Ratman grew afraid, but suddenly a roar rang in the area, and a Ratman twice the size as usual charged toward the man.

The manʼs face grew solemn as he could see the next battle wasnʼt going to be easy. But what he saw next made his mental strength fall even further, as another Ratman of the same size was coming at him.

The man didnʼt have the choice of giving up as he had his family waiting for him. His eyes turned crazy as instead of waiting for the Ratman to come at him, he charged at it.

It was as if the man had become a god of war, his strength at that time was on another level. As he slashed his first swing, the Ratman brought his claw to defend, and at the same time, it used its tail to attack the middle-aged man.

The second Ratman was also close to reaching the middle-aged man, so if he failed to kill the Ratman here, his situation would turn precarious.

Aakesh had an expressionless face as he broke three tiny branches from the nearby tree.

The middle-aged man, ignoring the tail, threw his complete strength into the slash.

The Ratmanʼs body was soon split in half as the sword sliced through its claws like tofu. At the same time, the tail had also reached the man.

Fortunately for the man, it didnʼt succeed in causing a large wound. Gritting his teeth through the pain, he crazily charged at the second Ratman, who had also pounced at the man.

The clash seemed to be on the side of the Ratman when an item suddenly came flying at the Ratman and knocked it backward.
