Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 1035: Chapter 141: Potato 2

Apart from ’Potato Master’ cultivating genetically modified potatoes, other players have various activities, either related to war or logistics, while those who couldn’t get into either went to explore this dangerous star domain in search of the legendary ’Shrek’s Treasure’.

Of course, the latter is just an ’interstellar legend’ fabricated by Vervi and Gates.

The purpose is to exhaust the players’ abundant energy.

To be honest, they themselves don’t understand why these mercenaries are so interested in this legendary tale.

In earlier years, perhaps some interstellar adventurers were interested in such things, but over the years, none have obtained the ’treasure’, and even the former crew of the Shrek Star Thief Group don’t know the so-called ’treasure’s’ whereabouts.

”These little things don’t think, if there really was a treasure, would I bother to rob? Do I have a problem, lying around isn’t comfortable?”

Once the Blue Blood Demon, now a high-ranking officer of the Legion, Vervi rolled his eyes and said speechlessly.

”Haha, back in the day, facing the besiegement of a dozen Level 2 civilizations, with the mechanical army in pursuit at the back, all of the captain’s plunder income was used to purchase spaceship weapons, and even if something was left, it was all scraped clean by those victors.”

The big insect and starship maintenance master Gates opened his mandibles, took a deep breath of a star insect corpse similar to a ’cigar’, and enjoyed puffing out a blue smoke.

”But to say there’s no treasure, that might not be true either.”

”Huh?” Vervi was stunned for a moment, looking at this former colleague in surprise, ”Really? Why didn’t you say so earlier!?”

”Aren’t you curious about where the captain’s Tier 4 formidable strength comes from? Though he claims to possess the Space Giant Beast bloodline, allowing him to crush starships with his hands, and recruiting a group of interstellar powerful beings, forming the unbelievably powerful Shrek Star Thief Group.”

Gates’ compound eyes revealed a look of reminiscence, as if still nostalgic about the glorious days of old.

Vervi, the old star thief, also showed a similar expression.

In its peak years, the Shrek Group could even make Level 2 civilizations pay tribute to it, any interstellar race that questioned or resisted it was either exterminated or sold as a species.

Although at that time they were just among the small fry of the group, the high-ranking officials ate meat, and occasionally they could drink the soup.

”So, isn’t the captain of Space Giant Beast bloodline?” Vervi asked curiously.

”He might be, but you can’t explain why so many high-ranking officials, after joining the group, suddenly had power similar to the captain’s. Can the captain’s bloodline be contagious to others?”

”I know, some Space Giant Beast bloodlines can even achieve hybrid reproduction,” Vervi said.

”Maybe you’re right, the Shrek Star Thief Group never had any treasure,” Gates, holding the insect corpse, once again puffed out blue smoke, suddenly not wanting to talk anymore.

”Let’s get back to work. Instead of worrying about the former boss’s wealth, care more about our current boss. Where did he get an interstellar fleet capable of attacking planets? Just relying on these interstellar infantry is completely useless.”

Watching the big insect’s departing back, Vervi’s expression was unpredictable.

Back in the day, they were both just the group’s small fry, the high-level secrets were obviously not revealed to them, did the other party really know something?

...

”Yuanli, General Quel, there’s some bad news, we’ve been targeted.”

In the holographic projection, Qin Zhenzi frowned and said.

Huang Yuanli was taken aback and asked,

”What happened?”

According to Qin Zhenzi’s explanation, their goods ordered from the black market were intercepted along the dark line, and fortunately, some advanced Spark Life forms intervened to drive the intruders back.

”Now in the black market, all kinds of war supplies have been speculated to high prices, energy probes, salvage rigs, force field stabilizers, traction beam devices, those things, a tenfold increase is normal, everyone is buying, could it be a coincidence?”

An interstellar war involves far more than just starships and Star Wars weapons, various support equipment is indispensable, for instance, the ’probe scanner’, hailed as the ’Divine Artifact of Space Torpedo Detection’, with it, at least 50% of space bombs can be detected.

This gadget is very niche during normal times, but once a large-scale Star Wars appears, it will be speculated to sky-high prices. If not for Gao Gong obtaining the Level 5 Mercenary Corps’ priority purchasing rights from ’Pai Daxing’, they might not have been able to snatch these items.

Qin Zhenzi shook his head and confidently said,

”I’m sure someone has targeted us, and these people’s goal is not these goods, but your current space coordinates.”

The Cybertron Corps has many talents, but they are basically concentrated in two categories, either responsible for scientific research or fighting, serious managers are really not many. When Du Zhaodi was around, she grabbed both small and big matters, now that she’s gone, and someone being habitually a hands-off boss, the big cats and small cats in the legion have to step up.

For instance, now, Huang Yuanli is responsible for logistics, Qin Zhenzi for diplomacy and commerce, General Quel for military drills.

And in Mechanical Split Star, the businesswoman Qin Zhenzi’s sharp insight is above the other two.

After all, without Gao Gong, Huang Yuanli would still be scavenging in the Radiation Zone, and General Quel would only be leading the Motorcycle Faction for gang fights in the desert, rather than now, acting as a commander in a planetary battle.

”I understand, I’ll be cautious during this period.”

After the holographic projection closed, Huang Yuanli thought for a moment, then spoke to the air,

”Yuanyuan, you’ll need to exert yourself a bit during this period, go check the outskirts of the ’Broken Realm’ to see if there are any abnormal signal fluctuations.”

A light ’hm’ responded from the air.

Knowing that Gao Yuanyuan is socially anxious, Huang Yuanli wasn’t surprised, and further instructed General Quel,

”Take the Star Destroyer out and patrol several routes nearby. If anything occurs, proceed with physical destruction directly.”

General Quel nodded silently, turned, and left.

Compared to others, this bald female general is under more pressure recently because she has at most commanded wasteland-style wars, and now suddenly she is to command Star Wars, which is as difficult as having a primary school graduate take the Tsinghua University entrance exam, so she has been cramming all sorts of knowledge on interstellar warfare recently, occasionally consulting with Vervi and Gates, the two old hands.

After these arrangements, Huang Yuanli still felt insecure and had someone notify Dr. Yuu to plant a few recently matured species spores on the outskirts of the Broken Realm.

This kind of SS-Level organism has an almost instinctual intuition towards flesh.

And this effort bore fruit, soon, through both virtual monitoring and species spores, Huang Yuanli learned that indeed someone was targeting them and had locked onto their approximate area of activity.

At this moment, Huang Yuanli, along with Lord Celestis, Venus, and Xiao Yu, these top combat powers of the camp, were standing before a destroyed species spore, where a tree root as thick as a water tank looked like it was cut by thousands of blade edges on one half, and completely drained on the other.

The former was understandable, but the latter was beyond everyone’s comprehension, because such mutant life forms, derived from the Planet Tree, excelled at absorbing the life force of their enemies.

It could even absorb mechanical bodies!

But now, it had been drained by others.

Dr. Yuu was squatting by the tree root, enthusiastically collecting seed cells. She was probably the only one among them who was happy, or rather, carefree.

”Tier 3 combat strength.”

Finally, Lord Celestis provided the answer.
