Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 142: Chapter 126: Carbon Fusion_2

The torrent of life seemed to crash onto a giant dam, firmly blocked.

It was like the silent periods of several biological species she had seen before, where species neither advanced nor retreated, and life itself did not dominate.

However, this time, it was in a way she couldn’t comprehend.

”A terrifying power descended on this planet, and then, species began to die off in large numbers,” said Gaia.

The next moment, the ’Species Garden’ began withering on a large scale, fifty million, thirty million, ten million, five million, one million...

This was a higher level of artificial intervention.

”Then, a wonderful change was born.”

Gaia’s gaze was fixed on a spot, it was forty years ago, when the first Radiation Beast was born.

Industrial pollution became nourishment, nuclear fission became a cradle, machinery became new biological forms, land, sea, sky, all adverse factors turned into advantageous ones.

The Species Explosion seemed to begin again.

Metal factors, mutating genes, radiation cells, seemed to sprout overnight.

”Isn’t this a good thing?” Huang Yuanli thought for a moment and said.

Although Radiation Beasts are not good, they are better than a barren land, aren’t they?

Gaia first nodded, then shook their head, speaking with a sense of wonder.

”Incomprehensible, this possibility of evolution, theoretically, does not exist.”

Huang Yuanli pouted, ”How old are you? You’ve only been born for two months, and you keep talking theory. What do you know?”

Gaia laughed silently: ”You should go back.”

Huang Yuanli widened her eyes and said, ”No way, you called me over just to show me a movie?”

Gaia showed a sly smile and said, ”You can think of it as the desire to share of a newborn. After all, I’m only two months old.”

The next moment, Huang Yuanli woke up from her dream.

She took a few deep breaths, finding that the fatigue, pain, and dilemmas of these days were all gone, and even her physical injuries had fully healed.

She looked up at the sky, the sky was still black, but the terrifying pressure from the Beast Tide could no longer affect her.

She even felt a strange sense of déjà vu.

Could the Beast Tide be another form of Species Explosion?

”Sister Lii, you’re awake!” Momo said joyfully as the door swung open.

”Where am I?” Huang Yuanli looked around and found herself in a quite upscale room, a hundred times better than the wooden shed she previously slept in, with a faint flower scent and soft sheets that seemed to swallow her up.

”This is Sister Du’s room. She left it for you,” Momo paused and said, ”Oh, by the way, we’re now in New Steel City.”

”New Steel City,” Huang Yuanli’s eyes widened, ”How did I suddenly end up here?”

”You had a high fever that wouldn’t go down, so the consultant had people fly you here for treatment.”

”What a joke, that brat can’t manage without me, can he?” Huang Yuanli threw off the quilt and rushed out barefoot.

However, when she dashed outside, she found there were no flying devices on the distant tarmac, just dozens of black dots in the sky.

”Little girl, you’re awake,” an old man with a right hand made of old machinery was carrying a food box, and he smiled when he saw the little woman.

”Oh no, I won’t make it in time.”

Huang Yuanli sat down on the ground with a thud.

”Little girl, don’t worry. No matter what it is, let’s talk after you eat.” The old man opened the lunchbox with a chuckle, there was rice and a few plates of vegetables.

”We grow them ourselves, have a taste.”

Her stomach rumbled, and Huang Yuanli, unreserved, pulled the food box over and devoured it ravenously.

”Old man, how should I address you?”

”C-53145.”

”What?!”

”In the Imperial Era, synthetic workers like us had surnames based on the Ten Celestial Stems and names as our numbers.”

”Synthetic People, what are Synthetic People?”

”A type of clone controlled by the Imperial Main Brain, born with repaired Talent and technical skills.”

”Like worker bees?” Huang Yuanli mumbled with her mouth full.

”Pretty much.”

”Wouldn’t that be boring, staying in a repair shop for a lifetime, just listening to others’ commands?”

C-53145 shook his head and said, ”We have our own leisure time and hobbies, and this job allows us to contribute to the Empire and realize our value, I’m quite satisfied.”

Huang Yuanli paused, then quickly apologized seriously: ”Old C, I have a habit of talking nonsense, don’t take it to heart.”

”Old C?” C-53145 laughed: ”You and that Director Du are very interesting people, no wonder she entrusted me to take care of you.”

”Director Du, you mean Sister Du,” Huang Yuanli perked up and said quickly, ”Old C, is there anything else that can fly here? I want to go back to the battlefield.”

”An hour ago, seventy-six flying devices already left this Oasis, and I suppose the final battle has already begun. By the time you get back to the battlefield, the war is probably over.”

C-53145 packed up the lunch box and stood up.

”And don’t worry, with Director Du there, you’re unlikely to lose.”

”Why? In terms of fighting, Sister Du isn’t as good as me, right.”

C-53145 shook his head and said, ”Director Du is a person with immense capabilities, even in the Imperial Era, such powerful Mechanical Bodies were rare, you can be assured.”

After C-53145 left, Huang Yuanli scratched her head and asked Momo, ”Mechanical Body, what is that?”

Momo stretched her hands as wide as possible, puffed her cheeks, and said excitedly, ”It’s a big, big, big octopus!”
