Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 133: Chapter 118: Mechanical Committee

The ponytail girl left New Steel City and arrived at the core of the factory miles away, the Metal Gear Institute.

The new session of the Mechanical Committee convened, where others could log in via virtual projection, but the proposer had to be present in person.

If the factory system is considered a country, then the Mechanical Committee is the parliament, and the Security Corps is the army.

The power of a legislator naturally cannot compare to that of a senior military officer, but if the ’Metal Proposal’ passed by the entire Mechanical Committee, even the Vice Admiral, the founder of the factory, must diligently execute it.

Because opposition equates to treason.

As the high-tech door opened, Du Zhaodi walked to the main seat at the center of the parliament, and one by one, virtual projections came online, curiously looking at this new member of the Mechanical Committee.

The ponytail girl maintained a calm expression, and aside from her work clothes, she usually dressed in high-waisted pants and a white T-shirt, the only exposed part being her wrist—quite the ’director style’.

”A new mechanical member, a woman?”

”Which enterprise backs her? A new listing?”

”Security Corps background, a toy for that noble?”

Du Zhaodi had no intention of speaking, and this silence lasted until the three mechanical legislators logged in.

These three mechanical legislators consisted of one AI, one human, and one bionic man.

According to the process of the Mechanical Committee, a proposal can move to the next stage only if it receives approval from at least two of the three legislators.

That is the stage of voting by the 40 mechanical committee members.

If more than half of the members vote in favor, the proposal can be passed.

Among these three mechanical legislators, Du Zhaodi was most confident with the AI legislator, whose essence was the factory system, prioritizing production and manufacturing above all, while the human legislator was a representative of enterprises, specifically biological corporations, whose major backer would certainly oppose her proposal.

Her target for persuasion was the bionic man legislator.

This bionic man legislator appeared just like a normal human, with blonde hair and blue eyes, a stunning beauty with especially fair skin that seemed poreless, almost unreal in her beauty.

”Ms. Du, this is your first proposal since taking office as a mechanical committee member, the content and outcome of which will influence your qualification as a new member, please carefully decide whether to submit it.”

The AI legislator had no face; it was a humanoid form composed of countless mechanical tubes, with a voice as mechanical and calm as its appearance.

”Yes, Your Honor,” Du Zhaodi’s face brimmed with confidence.

”The content of my proposal is the ’New Biowar Act’, which aims to solve the birth of Radiation Beasts from the source, providing the factory with more space, resources, and output. As everyone knows, 90% of the Iron Sand Desert is occupied by mutated creatures, including vast energy mining areas and excellent ports, reducing our productivity by at least...”

As Du Zhaodi spoke, the electronic document of the proposal was already transmitted to the minds of each mechanical legislator.

The expressions of these mechanical legislators changed from indifferent to surprised, and then to incredulous.

They exchanged glances, some puzzled, some delighted, more overwhelmed by incomprehension.

Unfortunately, during the proposal stage, only the proposer’s voice can be heard, all others are muted, forcing them to endure silently, though the ponytail girl’s voice was crisp and pleasant, they felt like time was crawling.

Finally, it reached the questioning stage.

One mechanical legislator seized the opportunity to ask first.

”Ms. Du, your proposal claims you hold a biochemical potion capable of mass clearance of low-level Radiation Beasts?”

”Yes, sir, you can consider it as a large-scale insecticide, except it targets beings with mutated bloodlines.”

”But your proposal does not include the formula for this potion?”

”Both I and the potion provider believe that only medicines tested in practice have convincing and provided value.”

”So this medicine has already entered the practice phase?”

”Indeed, in the Automobile City Oasis, this medicine will be used in the war against beasts.”

This mechanical legislator wanted to say more but had to relent as the questioning time ended, his chance taken by another legislator.

And this legislator was less courteous, even somewhat aggressive.

Those familiar knew that several large biological enterprises backed this legislator.

”How can we confirm the effectiveness of this medicine?”

”Mr. Legislator, I mentioned before, real war is the best way to test effectiveness.”

”What about the side effects of this potion? Could it lead to more adverse effects on the mutated environment?”

”I don’t think so, I have explained in the proposal that this potion only targets Radiation Beasts, will not affect the environment, and won’t be used through large-scale spraying, but more by injecting into weapons for large-scale extermination during actual combat.”

”I believe you are speaking rashly without proof.”

”Results will prove everything.”

”Let’s assume this potion has considerable practical value, judging by Mr. Du’s intent, do you wish to exterminate all mutated creatures?”

”Exterminate is too harsh a term. In fact, I just want to increase the production capacity of the factory system. If the number of our factories were ten times what it is now, our output would soar, allowing us to hold a significant advantage in product competition with other continents, relying solely on capacity.”

”Moreover, I don’t harbor intentions of species extinction, it’s just that the number of Radiation Beasts is excessive, their presence spans six deserts? No, that certainly won’t do, I believe confining them to one desert is sufficient.”

”I see no problems with your idea, we could begin by clearing mines, excellent ports, and transportation hubs...”

”No, it’s impossible to create a more advanced Radiation Beast. This ’Radiation Annihilation Potion’ targets the mutant factors within them, equivalent to artificially creating rejection, which is the complete opposite of evolution...”

It is apparent that those aggressive members of the Mechanical Committee have patrons who are Biochemical Corporations and Military Contractors. They are not protecting the environment but rather safeguarding the ’resource areas’ and ’markets.’

The ones interested, however, are corporate representatives from other industries, who are very keen on increasing production capacity.

The ponytail girl is indeed a shrewd Rich Lady in the industrial field, spinning dreams skillfully. One moment she talks about global trade, the next about corporate warfare, as if accepting her proposal would benefit all the industrial chains on the continent, and ensure victory in future corporate wars.

The arms dealer legislator and the biochemical corporation legislator exchanged a glance, both feeling uneasy.

Finally, the questioning session from the legislators ended, and it was time for the Mechanical Presider to ask questions.

Just as Gao Gong and Du Zhaodi had anticipated, the AI presider focused on the specific efficacy, production, and raw materials of the potion, while the human presiders concentrated on environmental destruction and species protection.

Their attitudes were clear and unmistakable.

Only the Bionic Man presider seemed interested as she asked, ”According to the proposal, does the potion supplier believe that the greatest value of the Radiation Beast lies in their bionic systems?”

Du Zhaodi’s spirits lifted as she recalled Gao Gong’s exact words.

’What do bionic people value most? Of course, it’s bionics. On one hand, they believe they are an emerging species surpassing humans, representing the direction of intelligent species’ development. On the other hand, they are obsessed with simulating the life forms of Primordial People. To gain the presider’s approval, this is the point to begin with...’

Du Zhaodi took a deep breath and said, ”Presider, we jointly believe that species bionics is the future direction for biological corporations!”

The Bionic Man presider rested her chin on her hands, her photo-sensitive material eyes fixed intently on her. ”Please elaborate.”

...

Daisila paced anxiously by the door, knowing exactly what the proposal represented. It was not only a guarantee for their faction to overcome the Beast Tide, but also, should the bill pass, the mere sale of the ’Annihilation Potion’ could propel their newly established New Oasis to become the most unique existence among all oases.

The door opened and Du Zhaodi walked out expressionless, but then suddenly revealed a brilliant smile under her anxious expression, pulling out a concealed document.

”It passed!”

The two lovely girls immediately embraced each other.

”Did you get it? Is it the ’Initiator Protection Ordinance’?”

Du Zhaodi pulled out a document with the stamps of the three mechanical presiders.

To encourage innovation and prevent internal friction, the initiator of every proposal has the right to apply for protection throughout the implementation of the bill. Once the bill passes, whether it’s Mechanical City or a factory, all mechanical systems will provide shelter.

This is the highest directive from the Mother City.

”Let’s see anyone dare use a nuclear bomb on us now.”

”Come on, let’s head back! I want to tell him the entire good news personally,” Du Zhaodi said joyfully.

”Is it appropriate for you to go to the battlefield?” Daisila hesitated, her task being to protect the one before her.

”Of course, I have to go. Who will protect you if I don’t?”

...

In Little Finger’s underground workshop, with the last transformation surgery completed, the transformed soldier clenched his hands, bone claws protruding from the joints.

The system’s mission prompt sounded.

[Your transition task is complete, successfully transitioned to Biological Tutor]

[’Genetic Code Analysis’ enhanced to Intermediate level]

[You have comprehended Professional Knowledge[New Gene Map]]

Tsk tsk, nearly 100,000 experience points gone; secondary professions indeed consume vast amounts of experience.

But now, that thing can be made.

A knock came at the door, and after receiving Gao Gong’s permission, Biological Tutor Dai Bin entered.

Gao Gong’s tone was subtly suggestive, ”Instructor Dai, you should know what I want you to do, right?”

Dai Bin’s spirits lifted, a slight blush on his face as he replied, ”Does the General wish to sprout tentacles and whip me?”

Gao Gong’s expression immediately turned black, ah spit, wishful thinking; old me hasn’t encountered such a good fortune yet.
