Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 141: Chapter 126: Carbon Fusion

The human body is an assemblage composed of organs each specialized in their own function.

The enhancement of the spiritual level drives not merely the enhancement of one or two parts of the brain.

But rather the iteration of the entire neural system.

Huang Yuanli was struck with a high fever, her memories blurred as if turned into countless rooms, each room being a memory scene.

These memory scenes are various stress responses of the body, some from falling off a tree, some from being bitten by a wild animal, and some are purely from sadness and grief.

Most of these memories, even Huang Yuanli herself had forgotten.

But the body has not forgotten.

The enhancement of spiritual sensing seems to be inward rather than outward.

These memory scenes played simultaneously, making Huang Yuanli feel as if she were split into countless pieces, plunged into a sea of agony.

However, a cool sensation spread from her body, as if each ’memory room’ was equipped with an air conditioner.

As the cool air descended, the burning sensation on her body disappeared, and with it, all the ’memory rooms’, replaced by dense white fog.

In the fog, Huang Yuanli walked in a daze, her expression suddenly changing, ”Who are you!?”

Across the fog, another ’Huang Yuanli’ emerged, the two women identical, the only difference being this ’Huang Yuanli’ had a transcendent and complete aura, with unfathomable spiritual power.

”Hello,” ’Huang Yuanli’ smiled.

”You’re that big Octopus Monster!?” Huang Yuanli’s face was full of vigilance.

”A name is merely a symbolic label for things, I possess a vast life form, what you refer to could indeed be me.”

With a mere thought from ’Huang Yuanli’, the ground beneath their feet became empty, and then, an enormous tentacle as large as the ’Five Finger Mountain’ rose from the ground, the two stood on this tentacle, resembling ants on an elephant’s back.

When Huang Yuanli gazed around, she found that similar tentacles were countless, nearly covering the visible range.

”I can also be like this.”

’Huang Yuanli’ looked down, seeing the reflection on the sea surface, then, one spiritual node after another lit up from the sea, looking far ahead, the sea ascends to the stars, all beings are with this moment, each wave is a lifetime.

Huang Yuanli even saw herself.

”So many people——”

Huang Yuanli was astonished to discover that the coverage area of the counterpart extended far beyond the Radiation Beasts, including a vast quantity of people, the majority scavengers, but also Mechanical Hunters, robots, even native bandits, numbering in the millions when observed.

”You’ve consumed so many people?!” Huang Yuanli’s eyes widened.

”I have not interfered with their lifestyles, nor is it my goal,” ’Huang Yuanli’ laughed: ”In the pre-Civilization Era, there was a term called natural ecosystem, you can think of me as a kind of natural ecosystem, like a water cycle, except I’m the cycle of spiritual power.”

”By the way, to distinguish you and me, and to signify the meaning of life through individual markings, I have given myself a new name.”

”Gaia.”

Being somewhat illiterate, Huang Yuanli naturally did not understand the meaning of ’Gaia’, she just looked at the other vigilantly, saying: ”You can call yourself whatever you want, just let me go back quickly, or I’ll let the Perverted Advisor bite you, I tell you, he’s fierce now, faster at consuming brains than you.”

Gaia laughed: ”Regardless of whether you admit it, you are my first vessel, there is a close connection between you and me, a large part of my new personality consists of your elements.”

Huang Yuanli’s spirit was lifted, shamelessly saying: ”So, you inherited many of my advantages?”

Gaia nodded: ”Yes, for instance, your love for the tribe, which I have integrated into my life form, forming a love for the planet’s ecosystem.”

Finally, Huang Yuanli heard something, with a curious expression said: ”So, you’re here to mediate? Then go talk to those monsters, we’ve always been on the losing side, alright.”

Gaia shook her head: ”The cycle of life should not be stopped, survival of the fittest is what this planet can offer as the best life form, this form is called evolution.”

”However, this evolution has been artificially interrupted.”

”What?”

Gaia gently held Huang Yuanli’s hand.

”Let me show you.”

In the next moment, the two seemed to travel through the timeline, arriving at the origin of this planet.

This is a journey spanning billions of years.

The primordial ocean, formed by impacts, gave birth to initial life.

During the Great Oxidation Event, multicellular organisms began to nurture and develop.

The biological silence period lasted a billion years.

The supercontinent formed, then decayed by meteor impacts.

At dawn, life exploded at a terrifying rate, invertebrates were born.

In the river of life, Anomalocaris, trilobites, Haikouichthys, orthocones, low plants landing, arthropods rising, early fish appearing, massive biological radiation...

The two gradually transitioned from biological forms to the microscopic level, where the Little Woman was appalled to find that a minor alteration at any timeline would result in a massive change in biological form.

This evolution is often coincidental.

Until two hundred years ago, this ’evolution’ began to show obvious signs of artificial manipulation.

The progression of civilization is inevitably accompanied by the advancement of species, before mechanical war, the civilization of this planet had already started towards space.

However, this surge of life was abruptly halted a century ago.

She’d heard Professor Han mention, that was during the Second Mechanical War.
