Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 140: Chapter 125: Reclaiming Scavenger City

A day and a night have passed.

Automobile City has successfully been besieged and conquered.

The death toll of B-level Radiation Beasts has surpassed 20.

Two Old Hunters have died, likely because they wanted to show off but forgot they were no longer in peak condition.

They ended up showing off to their deaths.

As for the death toll of low-level Radiation Beasts, Gao Gong glanced at the system panel.

Just over thirty thousand.

Such a number of deaths probably doesn’t even compare to a single battle during the Demon Mountain period.

However, if it were the death toll of high-level Radiation Beasts, it might be ten times that of the Demon Mountain period.

The B-level Radiation Beasts huddled together, so this group of new Old Hunters went after C-Level Radiation Beasts, hitting and running in true guerrilla warfare style.

Therefore, casualties are very low, less than a tenth.

Although Automobile City fell, the Beast Tide did not turn into a full-blown disaster, advancing towards the three Oases.

The new drone tactics once again successfully kept the beast herd within a certain range.

The Crimson Empress of the Beast Tide could indeed split her forces to attack the three Oases.

But she didn’t do so, because if she did, she would have to separate the B-level Radiation Beasts, and with the enemy’s tactics, they would undoubtedly conduct large-scale beheading operations.

She’s not that foolish.

So, a large number of C-Level Radiation Beasts also started to huddle together, and every ’C-Level Corps’ numbered in the hundreds. This time, even the Hunting Squads composed of Bio-Fusioners and new Old Hunters encountered significant trouble.

The Beast Tide devours everything.

And within the Beast Tide, the elite forces of both sides occasionally clash.

Gao Gong occasionally looks up at the sky; he always has a kind of nuclear paranoia.

Half of the frenzied Beast Tide turned pure white. Gao Gong, however, seemed fine and even unusually relaxed, with all attributes +40%.

But the others weren’t so lucky.

The Little Woman was one of them, in terms of importance on the battlefield, her existence was second only to Gao Gong.

With electronic signals completely cut off, only her Mind Communication could notify each Hunting Squad; to say she was the communication center of the battlefield was no exaggeration.

”What, Old Wang’s squad is going wild again? Surrounded? Send help? Let them die!”

”Kep suggests a strike operation on the B-level beast group, not allowed, let him find death without dragging us into it!”

”Weren’t large robots ordered to retreat? Why are they surrounded? No saving them, let them die!”

As hundreds of messages frantically poured in, the Little Woman’s temper grew increasingly irritable, tending towards a middle-aged woman’s temperament.

She directed the battlefield remotely through Mind Communication while frantically consuming Spirit Potions.

And as the pressure of the Beast Tide grew, so did her stress, like mountain upon mountain pressing down on her.

Under this intense stimulation, her Superpower growth accelerated.

After about ten minutes of confused consciousness, a refreshing sensation suddenly emerged as if a hole opened in the Little Woman’s mind.

Her primary-level Superpower upgraded to intermediate-level.

The range of her consciousness expanded tenfold.

”Relief, no, bad!”

Huang Yuanli’s expression changed dramatically; her mind unconsciously expanded, which would undoubtedly attract high-level monsters, such as A-level Radiation Beasts!

”What happened?”

A Bio-Fusioner inquired, but the next moment a red light seemed to traverse space, directly pinning him to the ground.

The next moment, Bio-Fusion Armor seeped from his skin, and red flesh spores overflowed from the gun body, the two biological weapons locked in a struggle.

The Bio-Fusion Armor was actually at a disadvantage.

Huang Yuanli’s protective power was formidable, with five Bio-Fusioners, one of whom was the Shadow Team leader Gao Shu.

Three Old Hunters, one of whom was the Hunter Department Head Old Qian.

This force encompassed a quarter of their advanced combat strength, ensuring victory against any B-level Radiation Beast.

Unless they were facing an A-level Radiation Beast.

The next moment, the Crimson Empress descended from the sky, her blood-red eyes locked onto Huang Yuanli.

Despite her recent promotion, Huang Yuanli felt an even greater pressure than before.

”Attack!”

The four Bio-Fusioners hesitated not a bit, their Bio-Fusion Armor immediately overloading, fifteen energy nozzles appeared on their bodies, and terrifying kinetic energy caused them to break the sound barrier instantly.

On the other side, the Blind Man opened his eyes again, and within his grid-like pupils, a figure split into ten thousand, each grid a dynamic capture.

Gunfire erupted, and the Crimson Empress trembled midair, a bullet lodged between her protruding chest bones.

Moving towards her heart at a very slow pace.

Anger flashed in the Crimson Empress’s eyes, the next moment a terrifying mental wave exploded from her body, blasting the four Bio-Fusioners away.

”Take her away!”

Old Qian slowly stood up, placed a Sheep Horn Helmet on his head, and terrifying blood-colored flames flared up from his body, giving rise to a Red Skin Monster.

Among the seven biological transformation blueprints obtained from the Hunter’s Graveyard, most are Level 2 blueprints, with only one being a Level 3 blueprint, which is the [Demon Horn].

Its material is the head of a B-level Radiation Demon Sheep, and wearing it grants the ability to transform into a radiation demon for a short time.

Old Qian’s severed arm rapidly regrew, and with both palms pulling together, he forcefully drew out a fiery greatsword, the blade was the white of an A-level Radiation Beast.

With nearly a single leap, he slashed down, and the Crimson Empress’s eyes narrowed, her hands immediately grew two long spears.

Sword and spear clashed, producing an earth-shattering explosion.

A large pit appeared on the ground, charred cracks appeared on the pit’s surface from the terrifying firepower.

The next moment, the Crimson Empress tilted her head back, a conspicuous dent suddenly appearing on her forehead.

’Hiss——’

The Crimson Empress was furious, she waved both hands upwards, and at some point, a thick carpet of flesh covered the ground, and with her gestures, the flesh spores surged toward this group like a raging tide.

”Tsk, tsk, such a lively scene.”

Four old fellows appeared at some point, blocking in front of Huang Yuanli.

Huang Yuanli’s face changed, exclaiming, ”You just came off the battlefield, you can’t fight, run quickly!”

The old men looked at each other and smiled simultaneously.

”Little girl, when you reach our age, you’ll know that memories are far more wonderful than the withering of life, and it’s all we have left.”

The next moment, Old Wolf went down on all fours, instantly transforming into a terrifying Blade Wolf, with countless blood vessels bulging on the wolf’s body surface—signs of biological rejection reaching its extreme.

Another Old Hunter leapt directly onto the flesh carpet, and at the next moment, a giant blood vessel burrowed into it.

Old Wang’s back-mounted water tank clanged, with electricity surging madly into the conductive fork in his hand. With a loud shout, he violently thrust the electric fork into the oncoming flesh carpet, the thick flesh was charred black by the electric currents.

The electric shock caused even the Crimson Empress’s body to stiffen.

A moment later, a Bio-Fusioner appeared behind her head, unleashing the ultimate move, ’Air Cannon’, from his palm.

It blasted her head so flatly it deflated.

Over a dozen advanced combatants attacked incessantly, especially those Old Hunters, who seemed intent on dying, attacking relentlessly without any thought of defense.

The Little Woman was carried away by an old female hunter, and upon seeing this scene, tears started to flow.

”You all must escape; I’ll never call you old worthless fools again!”

Old Wang grinned and was about to say something when a skinned hand suddenly emerged from the flesh carpet and blew away half of his head.

The electric box on his back exploded, and the Thundercloud Electric Eel hatchling frantically fled, yet somehow, a dozen lamps appeared in the sky, under whose ’light’, the hatchling gradually withered into a dried corpse.

Upon the flesh carpet surface, the figure of the Crimson Empress squeezed out, the injuries she sustained moments ago already healed.

She seemed to possess a recovery ability even more formidable than Gao Gong’s.

Yet, just as her form half-emerged, an electric fork pierced her eye like lightning.

Old Wang, left with just half a head, had a smile curling at the corner of his lips.

Exhausting his last ounce of strength, he drove another electric fork into her abdomen.

Old Qian descended from the sky, his pale greatsword without hesitation, split Old Wang’s body in two, also bisecting the Crimson Empress’s flesh.

The Old Hunters seemed to return to those days of yore, no time for sadness, no time for joy, no time for grief.

All that remained was endless slaughter.

Lantern after lantern of red descended from the sky, each one a biological bomb.

Though besieged by fearless experts, the Crimson Empress seemed to retain her prowess, launching sound burst spears one after another, like a meteor shower.

A Bio-Fusioner had his leg blown off, Old Wolf’s biological guillotine failed to block the flesh spear and got severed at the waist.

Yet, by the time the flesh carpet receded, and Gao Gong and the other experts descended from the sky one by one, the Crimson Empress had not breached their defenses.

Seven Old Hunters, four perished in battle.

[Task completed, Experience +4100, Reputation +1000]

This was the fourth link in the task chain: Rekindling Flames.

However, completing the task didn’t bring much joy to Gao Gong, for though the old scoundrel was irritating, no matter how annoying, he was still their own old scoundrel.

”Smiling so brightly, aren’t you, old farts,” an Old Hunter commented, noticing the grin on Old Wang’s face, smirking.

”Even in death, you insist on getting one last hit in, truly worthy of you, Old Wang.”

Old Qian didn’t die, though his thigh got hit, leaving a fist-sized blood hole.

The Blind didn’t die either, though he truly became blind.

Old Qian didn’t seem saddened at all and boasted, ”Just an A-level monster, had it not fled fast, it would have been another soul under my sword.”

”Take their bodies, after the Beast Tide ends, we’ll bury them in New Hope City.”

Old Qian suddenly raised his head, Gao Gong said nothing more, with a flap of his wings, he disappeared into the night.

Once Hunters had no time for sorrow, neither can he afford to ponder.
