Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 191: Chapter 147: He Really Did It, I’m Crying (5k)_2

”Uh... I made this myself.” Naoki thought for a moment, then added, ”Perhaps after a while, you can buy it at Keri’s shop.”

He plans to collaborate with Keri later to see if they can mass-produce the statues of Calyrex. He will provide the design, and Keri will handle the wood carving, then polish and sell them to nearby farmers.

Allen nodded: ”I’ll go check it out later!”

Since he still had work to do, he didn’t stay long at the ranch. After taking the letter from Naoki, Allen turned and left.

He had to deliver these letters before dark.

After Allen left, Naoki used a video phone to contact Mayor Thomas, inviting him to come over tomorrow for an event.

Mayor Thomas gladly accepted and said he would surely attend.

Seeing this, Naoki felt relieved.

After finishing all the tasks, it was already four forty in the afternoon.

Looking at his ranch and the grassland around it.

Naoki thought, ”So next, there’s just the matter of setting up the venue.”

The tables and chairs at home weren’t enough. He couldn’t have everyone sitting on the grass munching on watermelons; that would be too impolite.

Naoki was worried, as he couldn’t possibly gather so many tables and chairs in such a short time.

Just then, the sound of a truck engine came from outside the ranch.

Naoki turned his head and saw Keri driving a truck to the ranch.

Right behind her was Allen riding Cyclizar.

Keri parked the truck in the ranch and directed her Machamp partner to unload the items from the vehicle.

Naoki walked up and was surprised to find that they were all items for setting up the event venue.

Tables, chairs, benches, celebration balloons...

Naoki was taken aback, a bit puzzled: ”What’s all this?”

Allen came up beside him, patted him on the shoulder, and watched Keri direct Machamp to move things. He smiled and explained:

”Isn’t this your first time hosting an event? Keri and I thought that since you’re new here, you wouldn’t have experience or enough tables, so we came to help you set up the venue. How about that?”

”This is a huge help!” Naoki was grateful.

Keri walked over with a smile: ”I’m charging for these, you know!”

Naoki: ”...How much?”

”Five watermelons!” Keri held out her hand, counting on her fingers: ”Two for each Machamp, one for each Conkeldurr, and one for me.”

Naoki immediately understood her point and smiled: ”Alright, plenty guaranteed!”

Keri: ”Then let’s get busy!”

So Naoki, along with Koraidon and Cyclizar, began helping move the tables and chairs.

Allen and his Cyclizar joined in to help too.

Glaceon, Alcremie, Pawmo, and Butterfree were blowing up balloons on the side.

Keri coordinated everything.

Everyone and the Pokemon worked together to set up the venue, arranging tables and chairs and decorating the ranch with ribbons, hanging the inflated balloons on the Naoki Ranch sign.

At five in the evening, Zack came to pick up the goods.

He looked at the scene, amazed: ”Wow, it’s really lively here!”

Then, he noticed the gigantic watermelon.

Zack’s reaction was different from Keri and Allen’s. After a brief shock, he muttered:

”Such a big watermelon, I wonder how much it would sell for at the market?”

Allen chuckled: ”Uncle Zack, a family of three can’t finish such a big watermelon!”

Zack was taken aback, then agreed: ”That’s true.”

He looked at Naoki and laughed heartily: ”In that case, save a spot for me tomorrow!”

”Don’t worry!” Naoki nodded.

In the evening, Naoki invited Keri and Allen to have dinner at the ranch.

The three of them, along with a group of Pokemon, enjoyed a barbecue under the starry sky, filled with the atmosphere of fireworks.

After eating and drinking, the sky was completely dark.

Allen watched the fireflies gathering by the river and couldn’t help but exclaim: ”Nature is truly beautiful!”

Naoki helped Dragonite massage its full belly and said: ”You could come to the countryside to run a ranch.”

Allen shook his head: ”Better not. I don’t have as many Pokemon to help me work, I’d probably end up exhausted.”

Naoki: ”It’s not that exaggerated, is it?”

Hearing this, Allen, who was lying on the grass from eating too much, immediately sat up, as if remembering something.

”Honestly, this is the first time I’ve seen a ranch develop so quickly. It’s only been a few months, and it’s completely transformed.”

Beside him, Keri nodded in agreement: ”Do you remember Ray from Thunder Ranch?”

”I know him.” Naoki had met him.

Keri: ”His ranch is now about the same as yours, but it took him almost two years to get it to this point, while you’ve only taken less than four months!”

Naoki thought for a moment and speculated: ”Maybe it’s because I can catch Pokemon myself?”

He had caught the Gogoat and brought Nacli back from the wild. These not only saved him a lot of money but also provided a significant source of income.

”That’s what I mean!” Allen lay back down: ”Normal people don’t have powerful Pokemon like Koraidon to help them, so running a ranch does take a lot of time.”

Naoki understood. He looked at Koraidon and reached out to pat its head.

After a while, Keri said: ”It’s getting late, we should head back.”
