Chapter 154: Chapter 124: Legendary Ingredient!

In Naoki’s mind, an image appeared of Teddiursa mischievously pulling feathers from Zapdos.

Facing the Teddiursa that darted out from a corner, Zapdos angrily released its electric power.

But the Teddiursa, feather in hand, turned and ran, triggering its quick escape ability, dodging Zapdos’s attack and successfully escaping from the Legendary Pokemon.

After the escape, Teddiursa and Mew arrived in the human city.

Perhaps unintentionally, they saw through the street window a child drawing in a room.

So, Mew and Teddiursa thought they could express themselves through drawing and depicted the encounter with Zapdos using crayons on paper.

Finally, they placed the letter and Zapdos’s feather into an envelope and handed it to a Fearow friend they met on the road, asking it to help deliver it back to the ranch.

As for why it wasn’t the previous Pelipper.

Naoki guessed it might be because Mew and Teddiursa’s journey was still ongoing, not staying too long in one place.

What a big discovery!

He was troubled by not having any Electric Type ingredients to cook with, but unexpectedly, Teddiursa delivered the ingredient today.

Of course, the premise is that Zapdos’s feather can be used in cooking.

So, here comes the question, what cooking method should he use for this Zapdos feather?

Frying, stir-frying, deep-frying, steaming, braising, boiling...

None of them seem quite suitable.

And even if he manages to cook it, Dragonite and Pawmi probably won’t want to swallow the feather whole, will they?

A decent dish must first whet the appetite of those who eat it.

Moreover, this yellow and sharp feather looks like it would scratch the throat.

Just the thought of it is discomforting.

Just then, Dragonite, who had been napping on the grass all afternoon, rubbed its eyes and sat up.

Naoki approached with the feather, asking, ”Do you want to eat this?”

Dragonite looked at the feather with a troubled expression.

”Roar...” This probably isn’t edible, right?

Although it’s a dopey dragon, it knows what can and cannot be eaten.

Meanwhile, small Pawmi, busy all day, seeing the sky darkening, herded the hens back to the Chicken House and eagerly headed towards Naoki after work.

Then it heard Naoki with a yellow feather asking, ”Pawmi, would you eat this?”

”Pawmi?!”

Pawmi was startled, looking at the feather and sensing an extraordinary aura from it.

It’s just that... this probably can’t be eaten, can it?

Pawmi also found it very difficult.

Observing this, Naoki thought to himself, as expected.

He pondered as he stood and headed towards the wooden house.

If direct consumption isn’t possible, how about grinding it into powder?

After a moment’s thought, Naoki decided to give it a try.

However, he didn’t currently have a grinder at home, so he gazed at the sky and, seeing it still had some time until dark, he called Koraidon and rode it to Porto Marinada Town.

Naoki remembered that Keri had a grinder.

When he and Koraidon arrived at Keri’s house, she was having dinner.

Seeing Naoki visit at this hour, Keri was surprised, then cheerfully asked, ”Are you planning to expand your facilities again?”

Naoki: ”...No.”

He asked, ”I’d like to borrow your grinder to grind this feather, is that okay?”

While saying this, Naoki took out Zapdos’s feather.

”Of course!” Keri stood up and led Naoki to her workshop, casting her gaze on the feather in Naoki’s hand, asking, ”Is that... a Pokemon feather?”

Naoki nodded. He glanced around; Keri’s workshop wasn’t as tidy as he imagined, rather it was a bit messy.

Various tools and workbenches were piled together, wooden boards leaned against the wall, and shavings remained on the desk, not yet cleaned.

”I just made a batch of wooden boards this afternoon and haven’t had time to clean up, so it’s a bit of a mess,” Keri explained, a little embarrassed.

”It’s okay.” Naoki wasn’t too concerned; he focused on the grinder.

Keri went up and plugged in the power, then pressed a button on the machine, ”Alright, you can put it in now.”

Naoki nodded, then tossed the feather in.

Accompanied by the machine’s buzzing sound, a small amount of yellow powder soon fell from the outlet.

Naoki carefully collected all the powder into a bottle.

At the moment his gaze fell on the powder, information about them surfaced in his mind.

[Zapdos Feather Powder: A legendary ingredient, this powder contains a large amount of electric energy, possibly usable in cooking, effect unknown.]

Can it really?! Naoki was delighted.

And its quality is legendary!

This was Naoki’s first time encountering an ingredient of this quality.

If he used it for cooking, what effect might the dish have?

Naoki was eager to go home and try it out.

Seeing how precious he considered the feather powder, Keri was very curious: ”Whose Pokemon feather is this anyway, making you show such expressions?”

Naoki replied, ”Zapdos.”

”Zapdos?” Keri hadn’t heard of this Pokemon before.

”In legend, the Thunder God, a Pokemon that can control thunder at will,” Naoki said.

There seems to be more than one Zapdos in the world, each with different strengths, but there’s only one true Thunder God.

That would be the Zapdos residing on Lightning Island in the Lugia explosive birth movie.

If one could gather Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno, one could summon the legendary Pokemon, Lugia, master of ocean currents and Hurricane.

I just wonder whose Zapdos feather this is.

”Though I’ve never heard of it, from what you’ve said, it must be a very powerful Pokemon, right?” Keri murmured.

”Yes! After all, it’s called a legendary Pokemon,” Naoki nodded.

”But, I’m really curious, where did you get it from?” Keri asked.

”Of course, it was given to me by Teddiursa, you’ve seen it, at last month’s Spring Livestock Contest.”

Upon hearing this, Keri immediately thought of that Teddiursa following Naoki at the contest, apologizing to other ranchers and farmers.

Keri: ”Its ability is Pickup?”

Naoki nodded: ”That’s right.”

Keri was amazed: ”Its luck is unbelievable! To find a feather that fell off a legendary Pokemon.”

Naoki grinned: ”It’s no ordinary Teddiursa! Alright, it’s getting late, I won’t bother you any longer, see you!”

Keri: ”...Goodbye.”

Naoki, excited, rode on Koraidon and, not lingering in town, returned straight to the ranch.

He headed to the kitchen area, looking down at the prepared ingredients and utensils before him.

So, what should he make with the feather powder?

Staring at the bag of flour in the kitchen corner, Naoki already had the answer in his heart.

Steamed buns!

He was going to add the legendary feather powder to the flour to make steamed buns!
