Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 153: Chapter 123: Teddiursa’s Mysterious Gift

”I’ve lived so many years, and this is the first time I’ve heard of such a Pokemon.” Zack murmured, ”If the Paldea Region had a Pokemon like Calyrex, I believe the local farmers would be willing to worship it.”

However, unfortunately, there are very few legends in the Paldea Region.

”Isn’t that a good thing?” Naoki chuckled, ”Those Pokemon called legends are too far removed from humans, and their appearances always bring various crises to the human world.”

”Just like the legends of the Earth God and the Sea God in the Hoenn Region, it is said that when they awaken, the entire Hoenn Region is affected by their clash.”

”Continuous heavy rain falls from the sky, earthquakes and scorching sun spread everywhere; that is the real chaos!”

The Paldea Region is thousands of miles away from the Hoenn Region, quite distant.

The people living in Paldea know almost nothing about the legends circulating there.

But Zack could hear the magnitude of the disasters they brought from Naoki’s tone.

”Indeed!” Zack agreed, ”Compared to that, our place is more livable.”

Then, he curiously asked, ”Did you learn all this while traveling outside?”

Naoki hadn’t traveled, although the original person had been out, he didn’t deliberately learn about those legends.

Pausing for a moment, Naoki nodded, ”Yes, ’I’ had been to many places before.”

”Young people should travel more!” Zack grinned, ”Seeing you now, you must be planning to settle here?”

Naoki turned back to look at the Pokemon in the pasture.

He once dreamed of traveling around the Pokemon World, but now this stable, peaceful life wasn’t bad.

Although lacking the adventure and thrills of travel, it was peaceful and warm.

So, he nodded, ”Yes, I plan to live here for good.”

Naoki thought, although he’s at the pasture now, it doesn’t mean he can’t travel.

Once the pasture is up and running, with a Pokemon steward, and finances aren’t tight, he could leisurely visit other regions.

See Pallet Town, see the World Tree, see Mt. Coronet...

”That’s good, that’s good.” Zack said with a hint of sentiment, ”To be honest, when I first saw you, I thought you wouldn’t last!”

”Life on the pasture is so hard, and being a farmer is very boring. Rarely do young people persist like you, remember Elif from the neighboring Cherry Garden?” Zack asked.

Naoki nodded, ”Of course.”

In the spring, he attended the Sakura Blossom Wine Party hosted by Mr. Elif and received Cherry Wine from him, he was a very kind bearded uncle.

”His daughter, Sina, is clamoring to become a Trainer and travel with Pokemon on adventures!” Zack laughed, ”Elif is too worried about her safety, doesn’t want her to go, and they’ve been in a cold war for days.”

”It’s just human nature!” Naoki said.

If he had a daughter, he would also worry, as in this world, kids can travel at ten.

A ten-year-old girl traveling alone would naturally cause concern.

Naoki thought about it from another perspective; if it were his daughter, he might send three Gogoats, Dragonite, and Koraidon to guard her.

Zack, perhaps reminded of something, had a slight tear in his eye, ”Yes, human nature, parents always worry about their children.”

He looked up at the sky, faintly hearing the cicadas in the back mountain.

”Summer is coming!” Zack said.

Naoki also heard the cicadas, he and Zack looked up at the sky together, took a deep breath, saying, ”Yes!”

”Well, unknowingly talked so much.” Zack laughed as he loaded the goat milk onto the cart, waved goodbye to Naoki, ”See you!”

”See you!” Naoki also bid farewell.

Watching Zack leave, he turned around.

And at this moment, a Fearow suddenly flew across the evening sky.

The Fearow slowly landed in the pasture, looking at Naoki with sharp eyes.

In its strong talons, it clutched a thick envelope.

”Huh?”

Seeing this wild Fearow from nowhere, Naoki looked surprised.

He pointed to himself and asked, ”For me?”

The Fearow let out a sharp cry and nodded to confirm.

Naoki roughly guessed who the sender was.

He reached out and took the envelope from the Fearow’s talons, then had Koraidon bring a box of Poffin he baked for the Fearow.

Naoki took a piece of Poffin from the box and offered it.

The Fearow looked down at the Poffin emitting a strange aroma, then opened its long sharp beak and ate it.

As the Poffin entered, the Fearow’s eyes brightened suddenly.

Naoki smiled and said, ”Thank you for delivering the letter for Teddiursa, this treat is for you!”

The Fearow looked visibly happy, an expression of joy evident to the naked eye.

It let out an excited cry, grabbed the box of Poffins with its talons, and flew toward the sunset.

”Aga-sss?”

Koraidon turned its gaze to the envelope.

It sensed an aura from the envelope that differed from normal Pokemon.

Seeing the different packaging from before, Naoki looked surprised.

Did Teddiursa and Mew learn to send mail?

What would this gift be?

Naoki opened the envelope, and the first thing he saw was a sharp yellow feather, with a faint trace of electric current swirling around it.

”A feather?”

Naoki was even more surprised.

What kind of feather would a Teddiursa with the Pickup trait specifically pick up to send back to the pasture?

But more than that, Naoki was curious about what Teddiursa had written on the postcard this time.

He opened the envelope, and inside wasn’t a postcard, but a simple crayon drawing, seemingly done by a three-year-old.

The drawing showed a strangely shaped Pokemon.

From its wings and shape, it vaguely resembled a Bird-type Pokemon.

Its body was filled with yellow crayon, with thick yellow lines drawn beside it, seemingly representing currents released by this Bird-type Pokemon.

Additionally, the drawing still bore two cute paw prints.

These indicated the identity of the sender.

Naoki placed the yellow feather and the Pokemon from the drawing together for comparison,

Then, as if realizing something, he was shocked.

This is a Zapdos feather!

At this moment, Naoki’s previous speculation became true.

With the Pickup trait and the honey candy effect, Teddiursa and Mew really encountered Zapdos and successfully got a feather from it!
