His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2315: Chapter 667: One Year Later (44) Mutual Destruction_3

Her voice saying ’stop crying,’ was only loud enough for the two of them to hear, but Mu Qingxin lowered her head and cried harder: ”Whenever I think about how my brother is suffering so much now, I just feel like such a useless sister. Back then, when Jiang Yan and I were struggling, he was the one helping us, and now it’s like this between you two, and I can’t do anything to help.”

Qin Mu sighed softly, uncertain whether she felt sorry for someone, or regretted something.

”Qin Mu, think of it as my plea to you, give me a bit of face, go see him, he listens to you. Have him eat something, take his medicine, let his illness get better, then you can ignore him afterwards. A few days more or less won’t make a difference, will it?”

Mu Qingxin excitedly grabbed her hand, crying as she pleaded with her.

”Aren’t you afraid that the food I cook will poison him?”

Qin Mu asked her with a bitter smile.

”Even if it’s poison, he’ll think your cooking is delicious!”

Mu Qingxin burst into laughter through her tears.

Qin Mu sighed, half-pushed and half-convinced, and went along with Mu Qingxin to the apartment.

——

Mu Yichen got up at noon, feeling unwell, to find some water to drink. Hearing some noise coming from the kitchen, he thought the housemaid had come to cook for him and walked over with a frown.

She was wearing a pale yellow oversized sweater, the wide sleeves rolled up to her elbows, earnestly chopping vegetables with her head down.

Now she could cut carrots very finely, and also slice potatoes into very thin strips.

However, a few strands were sticking together, and she frowned, holding the clump of potato strips in front of her eyes, pouting slightly unhappy.

Mu Yichen stood far away in the dining room watching, everything around was unusually quiet.

As if in a dream.

She soaked the potato and carrot strips together in a crystal bowl, then checked the pot on the stove, unsure for a moment of where to find a tool to lift the lid. She pulled out a few sheets of kitchen paper to hold it, the soup already whitening, Qin Mu was somewhat satisfied as she gently stirred with a spoon, then re-covered the pot and turned the heat to low.

Qin Mu noticed Mu Yichen when she went to the fridge to get some greens, inadvertently catching sight of a faint figure from the corner of her eye, then turned her head to see him standing there frowning, with a cold face.

Qin Mu’s heart skipped a beat, but a few seconds later she asked indifferently, ”What are you doing standing there? Go wait for lunch.”

Mu Yichen, upon being discovered, remained indifferent, dragging his heavy steps into the kitchen.

Qin Mu thought he was going to help, so she stepped back a little, ”No need to help!”

Mu Yichen said nothing, just taking a cup from behind her.

Qin Mu...

”Is there water?”

Mu Yichen weakly asked.

”Yes!”

Qin Mu replied woodenly, then hurriedly took the boiled water to him. He didn’t reach for it, so Qin Mu, snapping back to reality, quickly poured it into a cup for him.

A few minutes later, Qin Mu in the kitchen heard the sound of the television coming from the living room.

She recognized the news anchor’s voice, and after listening to the news, her mood seemed less tense, and she began focusing again on cooking.

Mu Yichen sat on the sofa watching the news with a mug in hand; the entire living room, except the spot where he sat, remained slightly warm.

At one-thirty in the afternoon, the two finally had lunch.

Mu Yichen looked at the three dishes and one soup on the table, practically doubting his eyes, and even more so the person sitting next to him.

Qin Mu, uncomfortable under his doubtful gaze, opened her mouth to defend herself: ”I followed the recipe, it looks okay?”

For some reason, when she asked whether it looked okay, she felt a little proud.

She swore this was the best meal she had cooked in nearly thirty years of life.

She had never made such a beautiful meal before.

Moreover, the taste, the smell even, was quite good.

Authentically flavored.

Qin Mu handed the chopsticks to him.

Mu Yichen lowered his gaze, pondered for a moment, then took the chopsticks.

Qin Mu felt slightly moved, thinking he was about to protest or go on a hunger strike, so she served him some soup.

”I only added a little salt, I heard patients can’t eat very strong flavors, so endure it and drink a bit more.”

Qin Mu gently reminded.

Mu Yichen said nothing, only used whatever she gave him.

As for why she came over again, Mu Yichen didn’t ask, but in his heart, he knew clearly.

And Qin Mu, with a lessened appetite than his, preoccupied and heavy-hearted, only drank some soup, feeling slightly full.

In her mind, Mu Yichen wasn’t someone who couldn’t eat or would fall seriously ill over such trivial matters of emotion.

But now, seeing him like this...
